1 C uvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 F iul omului, arată Ierusalimului urîciunile lui!

`Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, and thou hast said:

3 Ş i spune -i:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu, către cetatea Ierusalimului:,, Prin obîrşia şi naşterea ta eşti din ţara Cananiţilor; tatăl tău era Amorit, şi mama ta Hetită.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah to Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity of the land of the Canaanite, Thy father the Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

4 L a naştere, în ziua cînd te-ai născut, buricul nu ţi s'a tăiat, n'ai fost scăldată în apă, ca să fii curăţită, nici n'ai fost frecată cu sare, şi nici n'ai fost înfăşată în scutece.

As to thy nativity, in the day thou wast born, Thou -- thy navel hath not been cut, And in water thou wast not washed for ease, And thou hast not been salted at all, And thou hast not been swaddled at all.

5 O chiul nimănui nu s'a îndurat de tine, ca să-ţi facă măcar unul din aceste lucruri, din milă pentru tine; ci ai fost aruncată pe cîmp, aşa de scîrbă le era de tine, în ziua naşterii tale.

No eye hath had pity on thee, to do to thee any of these, To have compassion on thee, And thou art cast on the face of the field, With loathing of thy person. In the day thou hast been born -- thou!

6 A tunci Eu am trecut pe lîngă tine, te-am văzut tăvălită în sîngele tău, şi am zis:,, Trăieşte chiar şi în sîngele tău!`` Da, ţi-am zis:,, Trăieşte chiar şi în sîngele tău!``

And I do pass over by thee, And I see thee trodden down in thy blood, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live.

7 T e-am înmulţit cu zecile de mii,, ca iarba de pe cîmp. Şi ai crescut, te-ai făcut mare, ai ajuns de o frumuseţă desăvîrşită; ţi s'au rotunjit ţîţele, ţi -a crescut părul. Dar erai tot goală, goală de tot.

A myriad -- as the shoot of the field I have made thee, And thou art multiplied, and art great, And comest in with an excellent adornment, Breasts have been formed, and thy hair hath grown -- And thou, naked and bare!

8 C înd am trecut Eu pe lîngă tine, M'am uitat la tine, şi iată că îţi venise vremea, vremea dragostelor. Atunci am întins peste tine poala hainei Mele, ţi-am acoprit goliciunea, ţi-am jurat credinţă, am făcut legămînt cu tine, zice Domnul Dumnezeu, şi ai fost a Mea!

And I pass over by thee, and I see thee, And lo, thy time a time of loves, And I spread My skirt over thee, And I cover thy nakedness, And I swear to thee, and come in to a covenant with thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And thou dost become Mine.

9 T e-am scăldat în apă, te-am spălat de sîngele de pe tine, şi te-am uns cu untdelemn.

And I do wash thee with water, And I wash away thy blood from off thee, And I anoint thee with perfume.

10 Ţ i-am dat haine cusute cu fir, şi o încălţăminte de piele de viţel de mare, te-am încins cu in supţire, şi te-am îmbrăcat în mătasă.

And I clothe thee with embroidery, And I shoe thee with badger's skin, And I gird thee with fine linen, And I cover thee with figured silk.

11 T e-am împodobit cu scule scumpe, ţi-am pus brăţări la mînă, şi o salbă la gît;

And I adorn thee with adornments, And I give bracelets for thy hands, And a chain for thy neck.

12 ţ i-am pus o verigă în nas, cercei în urechi, şi o cunună minunată pe cap.

And I give a ring for thy nose, And rings for thine ears, And a crown of beauty on thy head.

13 A stfel, ai fost împodobită cu aur şi cu argint, şi ai fost îmbrăcată cu in supţire, cu mătasă şi cusături cu fir. Ai mîncat floarea făinei, miere şi untdelemn. Erai de o frumuseţă desăvîrşită, ba ajunsesei chiar împărăteasă.

And thou dost put on gold and silver, And thy clothing fine linen, And figured silk and embroidery, Fine flour, and honey, and oil thou hast eaten, And thou art very very beautiful, And dost go prosperously to the kingdom.

14 Ţ i s'a dus vestea printre neamuri, pentru frumuseţa ta; căci era desăvîrşită de tot, datorită strălucirii cu care te împodobisem, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

And go forth doth thy name among nations, Because of thy beauty -- for it complete, In My honour that I have set upon thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

15 D ar te-ai încrezut în frumuseţa ta, şi ai curvit, la adăpostul numelui tău celui mare; ţi-ai revărsat curviile înaintea tuturor trecătorilor, şi te-ai dat lor.

And thou dost trust in thy beauty, And goest a-whoring because of thy renown, And dost pour out thy whoredoms On every passer by -- to him it is.

16 A i luat şi din hainele tale, ţi-ai făcut înălţimi pe cari le-ai împodobit cu toate colorile, şi ai curvit pe ele: aşa cum nu s'a întîmplat şi nici nu se va mai întîmpla vreodată.

And thou dost take of thy garments, And dost make to thee spotted high-places, And dost go a-whoring upon them, They are not coming in -- nor shall it be!

17 Ţ i-ai luat pînă şi minunatele tale podoabe de aur şi de argint, pe cari ţi le dădusem, şi ţi-ai făcut nişte chipuri de bărbaţi, cu cari ai curvit.

And thou dost take thy beauteous vessels Of My gold and My silver that I gave to thee, And dost make to thee images of a male, And dost go a-whoring with them,

18 Ţ i-ai luat şi hainele cusute la gherghef, le-ai îmbrăcat cu ele şi ai adus acestor chipuri untdelemnul Meu şi tămîia Mea.

And dost take the garments of thy embroidery, And thou dost cover them, And My oil and My perfume thou hast set before them.

19 P înea pe care ţi -o dădusem, floarea făinii, untdelemnul şi mierea, cu care te hrăneam, le-ai adus înaintea lor, ca nişte tămîie cu un miros plăcut. Iată ce s'a întîmplat, zice Domnul Dumnezeu!``

And My bread, that I gave to thee, Fine flour, and oil, and honey, that I caused thee to eat. Thou hast even set it before them, For a sweet fragrance -- thus it is, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

20 A poi ţi-ai luat fiii şi fiicele, pe cari Mi -i născusei, şi i-ai jertfit lor, ca să le slujească de mîncare. Nu erau oare de ajuns curviile tale,

And thou dost take thy sons and thy daughters Whom thou hast born to Me, And dost sacrifice them to them for food. Is it a little thing because of thy whoredoms,

21 d e Mi-ai mai junghiat fiii, şi i-ai dat, trecîndu -i prin foc în cinstea lor?

That thou dost slaughter My sons, And dost give them up in causing them to pass over to them?

22 Ş i în mijlocul tuturor urîciunilor şi curviilor tale, nu ţi-ai adus aminte de vremea tinereţei tale, cînd erai goală, goală de tot, şi te zbăteai în sîngele tău!

And with all thine abominations and thy whoredoms, Thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, When thou wast naked and bare, Trodden down in thy blood thou wast!

23 D upă toate aceste răutăţi ale tale, -(vai, vai de tine! zice Domnul Dumnezeu), -

And it cometh to pass, after all thy wickedness, (Wo, wo, to thee -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah),

24 ţ i-ai zidit case de curvie, ţi-ai făcut înălţimi în toate pieţele.

That thou dost build to thee an arch, And dost make to thee a high place in every broad place.

25 L a toate colţurile uliţelor ţi-ai făcut înălţimi, ţi-ai necinstit frumuseţea, ţi-ai desfăcut picioarele înaintea tuturor trecătorilor, ai făcut tot mai multe curvii.

At every head of the way thou hast built thy high place, And thou dost make thy beauty abominable, And dost open wide thy feet to every passer by, And dost multiply thy whoredoms,

26 A i curvit cu Egiptenii, vecinii tăi, cu trupul plin de vlagă, şi ţi-ai înmulţit curviile, ca să Mă mînii.

And dost go a-whoring unto sons of Egypt, Thy neighbours -- great of appetite! And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms, To provoke Me to anger.

27 D ar iată că Mi-am întins mîna împotriva ta, am micşorat partea de întreţinere pe care ţi -o rînduisem, te-am lăsat în voia vrăjmaşelor tale, fiicele Filistenilor, cari au roşit de purtarea ta nelegiuită.

And lo, I have stretched out My hand against thee, And I diminish thy portion, And give thee to the desire of those hating thee, The daughters of the Philistines, Who are ashamed of thy wicked way.

28 A poi ai curvit cu Asirienii, pentrucă erai fără saţ; ai curvit cu ei, şi tot nu te-ai săturat.

And thou goest a-whoring unto sons of Asshur, Without thy being satisfied, And thou dost go a-whoring with them, And also -- thou hast not been satisfied.

29 Ţ i-ai înmulţit curviile cu ţara Canaanului şi pînă în Haldea, dar nici acolo nu te-ai săturat.

And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms On the land of Canaan -- toward Chaldea, And even with this thou hast not been satisfied.

30 C e slăbiciune de inimă ai avut, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu, de ai făcut toate aceste lucruri, cari sînt fapta unei ibovnice dedate la curvie,

How weak thy heart, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, In thy doing all these, The work of a domineering whorish woman.

31 z idindu-ţi case de curvie la toate colţurile uliţelor, şi făcîndu-ţi înălţimi în toate pieţele; n'ai fost nici măcar ca o curvă care-şi cere plata.

In thy building thine arch at the head of every way, Thy high place thou hast made in every broad place, And -- hast not been as a whore deriding a gift.

32 A i fost femeia prea curvă, care primeşte pe străini în locul bărbatului ei!

The wife who committeth adultery -- Under her husband -- doth receive strangers.

33 T uturor curvelor li se plăteşte o plată; dar tu ai dat daruri tuturor ibovnicilor tăi, i-ai cîştigat prin daruri, ca să -i tragi la tine din toate părţile şi să curveşti cu ei.

To all whores they give a gift, And -- thou hast given thy gifts to all thy lovers, And dost bribe them to come in unto thee, From round about -- in thy whoredoms.

34 A i fost cu totul altfel decît celelalte curve, întrucît nimeni nu umbla după tine, ci tu plăteai celor ce veneau la tine, în loc ca tu să fii plătită de ei. De aceea ai fost cu totul altfel decît altele.``

And the contrary is in thee from women in thy whoredoms, That after thee none doth go a-whoring; And in thy giving a gift, And a gift hath not been given to thee; And thou art become contrary.

35 D e aceea, ascultă, curvo, Cuvîntul Domnului!

Therefore, O whore, hear a word of Jehovah,

36 A şa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu:,, Pentrucă ţi-ai risipit banii în felul acesta, şi ţi-ai descoperit goliciunea în curviile tale cu ibovnicii tăi şi cu toţi idolii tăi urîcioşi, şi din pricina sîngelui copiilor tăi, pe cari li i-ai dat,

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of thy brass being poured forth, And thy nakedness is revealed in thy whoredoms near thy lovers, And near all the idols of thy abominations, And according to the blood of thy sons, Whom thou hast given to them;

37 d e aceea, iată, voi strînge pe toţi ibovnicii cu cari te desmierdai, pe toţi aceia pe cari i-ai iubit şi pe toţi aceia pe cari i-ai urît, da, îi voi strînge împotriva ta din toate părţile, îţi voi desveli goliciunea înaintea lor, şi îţi vor vedea toată goliciunea.

Therefore, lo, I am assembling all thy lovers, To whom thou hast been sweet, And all whom thou hast loved, Besides all whom thou hast hated; And I have assembled them by thee round about, And have revealed thy nakedness to them, And they have seen all thy nakedness.

38 T e voi judeca aşa cum se judecă femeile prea curve şi ucigătoare de copii, şi voi face din tine o jertfă sîngeroasă a urgiei şi geloziei.

And I have judged thee -- judgments of adultresses, And of women shedding blood, And have given thee blood, fury, and jealousy.

39 T e voi da în mînile lor; îţi vor surpa casele de curvie, şi îţi vor nimici înălţimile; te vor desbrăca de hainele tale, îţi vor lua toată podoaba de pietre scumpe, şi te vor lăsa goală, goală de tot.

And I have given thee into their hand, And they have thrown down thine arch, And they have broken down thy high places, And they have stript thee of thy garments, And they have taken thy beauteous vessels, And they have left thee naked and bare.

40 V or aduce gloata împotriva ta, te vor ucide cu pietre şi te vor străpunge cu lovituri de sabie.

And have caused an assembly to come up against thee, And stoned thee with stones, And thrust thee through with their swords,

41 Î ţi vor arde casele cu foc, şi se vor răzbuna pe tine, înaintea unei mulţimi de femei. Voi face să înceteze astfel curvia ta, şi nu vei mai da plată de curvă.

And burnt thy houses with fire, And done in thee judgments before the eyes of many women, And I have caused thee to cease from going a-whoring, And also a gift thou givest no more.

42 Î mi voi potoli mînia împotriva ta, şi nu voi mai fi gelos pe tine; Mă voi linişti, nu voi mai fi supărat.

And I have caused My fury against thee to rest, And My jealousy hath turned aside from thee, And I have been quiet, and I am not angry any more.

43 P entru că nu ţi-ai adus aminte de vremea tinereţei tale, ci M'ai aţîţat prin toate aceste lucruri, iată, voi face ca purtarea ta să cadă asupra capului tău, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu, ca să nu mai săvîrşeşti alte nelegiuiri cu toate urîciunile tale!``

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, And dost give trouble to Me in all these, Lo, even I also thy way at first gave up, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I did not this thought for all thine abominations.

44 I ată că toţi cei ce spun zicători, vor spune despre tine zicătoarea aceasta:, Cum este mama aşa şi fata!`

Lo, every one using a simile, Doth use a simile concerning thee, saying: As the mother -- her daughter!

45 T u eşti fata mamei tale, care s'a desgustat de bărbatul şi copiii ei. Tu eşti sora surorilor tale, cari s'au desgustat de bărbaţii şi copiii lor. Mama voastră era o Hetită şi tatăl vostru un Amorit.

Thy mother's daughter thou, Loathing her husband and her sons, And thy sisters' sister thou, Who loathed their husbands and their sons, Your mother a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

46 S ora ta cea mai mare, care locuieşte la miază-noapte de tine, este Samaria, ea şi fiicele ei; şi sora ta cea mai mică este Sodoma şi fiicele ei, şi locuieşte la miază-zi de tine.

And thine elder sister Samaria, she and her daughters, Who is dwelling at thy left hand, And thy younger sister, who is dwelling on thy right hand, Sodom and her daughters.

47 T u nu numai că ai umblat pe căile lor, şi ai săvîrşit aceleaşi urîciuni, ci, ca şi cum atît ar fi fost prea puţin, ai fost mai stricată decît ele în toate purtările tale.

And -- in their ways thou hast not walked, And according to their abominations done, As a little thing it hath been loathed, And thou dost more corruptly than they in all thy ways.

48 P e viaţa Mea, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu că sora ta Sodoma, şi fiicele ei n'au făcut ce aţi făcut voi, tu şi fiicele tale.

I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done -- she and her daughters -- As thou hast done -- thou and thy daughters.

49 I ată care a fost nelegiuirea sorei tale Sodoma: era îngîmfată, trăia în belşug şi într'o linişte nepăsătoare, ea şi fiicele ei, şi nu sprijinea mîna celui nenorocit şi celui lipsit.

Lo, this hath been the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, Arrogancy, fulness of bread, and quiet ease, Have been to her and to her daughters, And the hand of the afflicted and needy She hath not strengthened.

50 E le s'au semeţit, şi au făcut urîciuni blestemate înaintea Mea; de aceea le-am şi nimicit, cînd am văzut lucrul acesta.

And they are haughty and do abomination before Me, And I turn them aside when I have seen.

51 S amaria n'a făcut nici jumătate din păcatele tale; urîciunile tale au fost mai multe decît ale ei, aşa că ai uşurat vina surorilor tale prin toate urîciunile pe cari le-ai făcut acum.

As to Samaria, as the half of thy sins -- she hath not sinned, And thou dost multiply thine abominations more than they, And dost justify thy sisters by all thy abominations that thou hast done.

52 T u, care uşurai vina surorilor tale, prin purtrea ta, sufere acum urmările răutăţii tale; prin păcatele tale, prin cari te-ai făcut mai urîcioasă decît ele, acum le faci mai uşoară vina decît a ta; deaceea acopere-te de ruşine, şi poartă-ţi ocara, fiindcă ai uşurat vina surorilor tale!

Thou also -- bear thy shame, That thou hast adjudged to thy sisters, Because of thy sins that thou hast done more abominably than they, They are more righteous than thou, And thou, also, be ashamed and bear thy shame, In thy justifying thy sisters.

53 V oi aduce înapoi pe prinşii lor de război, pe prinşii de război ai Sodomei şi ai fiicelor ei, pe prinşii de război ai Samariei şi ai fiicelor ei, şi pe prinşii tăi de război în mijlocul lor,

And I have turned back their captivity, The captivity of Sodom and her daughters, And the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, And the captivity of thy captives in their midst,

54 c a să-ţi suferi ocara, şi să roşeşti pentru tot ce ai făcut, slujindu-le ca o pricină de mîngîiere.

So that thou dost bear thy shame, And hast been ashamed of all that thou hast done, In thy comforting them.

55 A stfel, surorile tale: Sodoma şi fiicele ei, se vor întoarce iarăş la starea lor de mai înainte, şi Samaria şi fiicele ei se vor întoarce iarăş la starea lor de mai înainte, şi tu şi fiicele tale vă veţi întoarce iarăş la starea voastră de mai înainte.

And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, Do turn back to their former state, And Samaria and her daughters Do turn back to their former state, And thou and thy daughters do turn back to your former state.

56 N u vorbeai deloc despre sora ta Sodoma, în vremea mîndriei tale,

And thy sister Sodom hath not been for a report in thy mouth, In the day of thine arrogancy,

57 m ai înainte de vădirea răutăţii tale, cînd ai primit batjocurile fiicelor Siriei, ale tuturor vecinilor tăi, şi ale fiicelor Filistenilor, cari te dispreţuiesc de jur împrejur!

Before thy wickedness is revealed, As the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram, And of all her neighbours, the daughters of the Philistines, Who are despising thee round about.

58 T rebuie să-ţi porţi, în adevăr, nelegiuirile şi urîciunile, zice Domnul.``

Thy devices and thine abominations, Thou hast borne them, an affirmation of Jehovah.

59 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,,Îţi voi face întocamai cum ai făcut şi tu, care au nesocotit jurămîntul, rupînd legămîntul!

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have dealt with thee as thou hast done, In that thou hast despised an oath -- to break covenant.

60 D ar Îmi voi aduce aminte de legămîntul Meu făcut cu tine în vremea tinereţii tale, şi voi face cu tine un legămînt vecinic.

And I -- I have remembered My covenant with thee, In the days of thy youth, And I have established for thee a covenant age-during.

61 A tunci îţi vei aduce aminte de purtarea ta, te vei ruşina, cînd vei primi la tine pe surorile tale, mai mari şi mai mici, pe cari ţi le voi dat ca fiice, dar nu pe temeiul legămîntului făcut cu tine.

And thou hast remembered thy ways, And thou hast been ashamed, In thy receiving thy sisters -- Thine elder with thy younger, And I have given them to thee for daughters, And not by thy covenant.

62 V oi face legămîntul Meu cu tine, şi vei şti că Eu sînt Domnul,

And I -- I have established My covenant with thee, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.

63 c a să-ţi aduci aminte de trecut şi să roşeşti, şi să nu mai deschizi gura de ruşine, cînd îţi voi ierta tot ce ai făcut, zice Domnul Dumnezeu.``

So that thou dost remember, And thou hast been ashamed, And there is not to thee any more an opening of the mouth because of thy shame, In My receiving atonement for thee, For all that thou hast done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'
