1 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 „ Fiul omului, fă-i cunoscute Ierusalimului urâciunile

`Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, and thou hast said:

3 ş i spune-i: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn Ierusalimului: ‘Prin origine şi naştere eşti din ţara canaaniţilor: tatăl tău era amorit, iar mama ta – hitită.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah to Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity of the land of the Canaanite, Thy father the Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

4 L a naşterea ta, în ziua în care te-ai născut, nu aveai ombilicul tăiat, nu ai fost îmbăiată, ca să fii curăţită, nu ai fost frecată cu sare şi nici învelită în scutece.

As to thy nativity, in the day thou wast born, Thou -- thy navel hath not been cut, And in water thou wast not washed for ease, And thou hast not been salted at all, And thou hast not been swaddled at all.

5 N imănui nu i-a fost milă şi nu s-a îndurat de tine ca să-ţi facă unul din aceste lucruri. Ai fost aruncată pe câmp, pentru că ai fost dispreţuită chiar din ziua în care te-ai născut.

No eye hath had pity on thee, to do to thee any of these, To have compassion on thee, And thou art cast on the face of the field, With loathing of thy person. In the day thou hast been born -- thou!

6 A tunci Eu am trecut pe lângă tine şi te-am văzut zbătându-te în propriul tău sânge. Şi, în timp ce tu erai în sângele tău, ţi-am zis: ‘Trăieşte!’ Da, în timp ce tu erai în sângele tău, Eu ţi-am zis: ‘Trăieşte!’

And I do pass over by thee, And I see thee trodden down in thy blood, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live.

7 T e-am făcut să te înmulţeşti ca florile câmpului; ai crescut, te-ai făcut mare şi te-ai gătit cu podoabe. Sânii ţi s-au rotunjit şi ţi-a crescut părul. Dar erai tot goală şi neacoperită.

A myriad -- as the shoot of the field I have made thee, And thou art multiplied, and art great, And comest in with an excellent adornment, Breasts have been formed, and thy hair hath grown -- And thou, naked and bare!

8 C ând am trecut pe lângă tine, m-am uitat la tine şi iată că îţi venise vremea, vremea dragostei. Atunci Mi-am întins peste tine poala hainei Mele, ţi-am acoperit goliciunea, am făcut jurământ faţă de tine şi am intrat în legământ cu tine, zice Stăpânul Domn. Şi ai devenit a Mea.

And I pass over by thee, and I see thee, And lo, thy time a time of loves, And I spread My skirt over thee, And I cover thy nakedness, And I swear to thee, and come in to a covenant with thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And thou dost become Mine.

9 T e-am spălat cu apă, te-am curăţit de sângele de pe tine şi te-am uns cu ulei.

And I do wash thee with water, And I wash away thy blood from off thee, And I anoint thee with perfume.

10 T e-am îmbrăcat cu haine brodate, te-am încălţat cu sandale de piele, te-am îmbrăcat cu in subţire şi te-am gătit cu mătase.

And I clothe thee with embroidery, And I shoe thee with badger's skin, And I gird thee with fine linen, And I cover thee with figured silk.

11 T e-am împodobit cu podoabe, ţi-am pus brăţări la mâini şi lănţişor la gât.

And I adorn thee with adornments, And I give bracelets for thy hands, And a chain for thy neck.

12 Ţ i-am dat inel pentru nas, ţi-am pus cercei la urechi şi coroană cu pietre scumpe pe cap.

And I give a ring for thy nose, And rings for thine ears, And a crown of beauty on thy head.

13 A stfel, ai fost împodobită cu aur, cu argint şi cu veşminte scumpe din in subţire şi din mătase. Ai mâncat aluaturi fine, miere şi ulei. Te-ai făcut tot mai frumoasă şi ai ajuns chiar regină.

And thou dost put on gold and silver, And thy clothing fine linen, And figured silk and embroidery, Fine flour, and honey, and oil thou hast eaten, And thou art very very beautiful, And dost go prosperously to the kingdom.

14 Ţ i-ai făcut un nume printre neamuri din pricina frumuseţii tale, căci erai desăvârşită cu splendorile cu care te împodobisem, zice Stăpânul Domn.

And go forth doth thy name among nations, Because of thy beauty -- for it complete, In My honour that I have set upon thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

15 D ar te-ai încrezut în frumuseţea ta şi te-ai prostituat pe măsura renumelui tău. Ţi-ai revărsat desfrânările asupra tuturor trecătorilor şi frumuseţea ta a devenit a fiecăruia.

And thou dost trust in thy beauty, And goest a-whoring because of thy renown, And dost pour out thy whoredoms On every passer by -- to him it is.

16 A i luat din hainele tale, ţi-ai făcut din ele înălţimi viu colorate şi te-ai prostituat pe ele. Aşa ceva n-ar fi trebuit să se întâmple şi nu va trebui să se mai întâmple vreodată.

And thou dost take of thy garments, And dost make to thee spotted high-places, And dost go a-whoring upon them, They are not coming in -- nor shall it be!

17 A i luat din minunatele tale podoabe, din aurul şi argintul pe care Eu ţi-l dădusem, ţi-ai făcut chipuri de bărbaţi şi te-ai prostituat cu ele.

And thou dost take thy beauteous vessels Of My gold and My silver that I gave to thee, And dost make to thee images of a male, And dost go a-whoring with them,

18 Ţ i-ai luat apoi hainele brodate, ca să le acoperi, iar uleiul şi tămâia Mea le-ai pus înaintea lor.

And dost take the garments of thy embroidery, And thou dost cover them, And My oil and My perfume thou hast set before them.

19 H rana pe care Eu ţi-o dădusem – făina bună, uleiul şi mierea pe care ţi le dădusem să le mănânci – tu le-ai închinat lor, ca să le fie o aromă plăcută. Aşa s-a întâmplat, zice Stăpânul Domn.

And My bread, that I gave to thee, Fine flour, and oil, and honey, that I caused thee to eat. Thou hast even set it before them, For a sweet fragrance -- thus it is, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

20 A i luat fiii şi fiicele pe care Mi-i născuseşi şi i-ai sacrificat pentru ei ca dar de mâncare. Şi acestea sunt numai o parte din desfrânările tale.

And thou dost take thy sons and thy daughters Whom thou hast born to Me, And dost sacrifice them to them for food. Is it a little thing because of thy whoredoms,

21 M i-ai sacrificat fiii şi i-ai dat lor, trecându-i prin foc în cinstea acestora.

That thou dost slaughter My sons, And dost give them up in causing them to pass over to them?

22 Î n mijlocul tuturor urâciunilor şi destrăbălărilor tale nu ţi-ai amintit de zilele tinereţii, când erai goală şi te zbăteai în propriul tău sânge.

And with all thine abominations and thy whoredoms, Thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, When thou wast naked and bare, Trodden down in thy blood thou wast!

23 V ai! Vai de tine, zice Stăpânul Domn. După toate relele pe care le-ai săvârşit,

And it cometh to pass, after all thy wickedness, (Wo, wo, to thee -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah),

24 ţ i-ai mai construit şi un sanctuar înalt şi ţi-ai făcut câte o înălţime în fiecare piaţă.

That thou dost build to thee an arch, And dost make to thee a high place in every broad place.

25 L a capătul fiecărei străzi ţi-ai construit o înălţime şi ţi-ai făcut dispreţuită frumuseţea, desfăcându-ţi picioarele înaintea fiecărui trecător şi înmulţindu-ţi desfrânările.

At every head of the way thou hast built thy high place, And thou dost make thy beauty abominable, And dost open wide thy feet to every passer by, And dost multiply thy whoredoms,

26 T e-ai prostituat cu egiptenii, vecinii tăi cu trupul plin de vlagă, şi ţi-ai înmulţit desfrânările, ca să Mă mânii.

And dost go a-whoring unto sons of Egypt, Thy neighbours -- great of appetite! And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms, To provoke Me to anger.

27 D e aceea Mi-am întins mâna împotriva ta şi ţi-am redus plata de întreţinere. Te-am dat pe mâna celor ce te urau, adică a filistencelor, care până şi ele s-au ruşinat de purtarea ta nelegiuită.

And lo, I have stretched out My hand against thee, And I diminish thy portion, And give thee to the desire of those hating thee, The daughters of the Philistines, Who are ashamed of thy wicked way.

28 A poi te-ai prostituat şi cu asirienii, pentru că erai nesătulă. Te-ai prostituat, dar tot nu te-ai săturat.

And thou goest a-whoring unto sons of Asshur, Without thy being satisfied, And thou dost go a-whoring with them, And also -- thou hast not been satisfied.

29 Ţ i-ai înmulţit desfrânările cu Caldeea, ţara negustorilor, dar nici cu aceasta nu te-ai săturat.

And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms On the land of Canaan -- toward Chaldea, And even with this thou hast not been satisfied.

30 C ât de decăzută trebuie să-ţi fie inima, zice Stăpânul Domn, de ai făcut toate aceste lucruri, întocmai ca o prostituată neobrăzată!

How weak thy heart, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, In thy doing all these, The work of a domineering whorish woman.

31 T otuşi, când ţi-ai construit sanctuare înalte la fiecare capăt de stradă şi ţi-ai făcut înălţimi în fiecare piaţă, nu ai fost ca o prostituată, căci ai luat în derâdere plata,

In thy building thine arch at the head of every way, Thy high place thou hast made in every broad place, And -- hast not been as a whore deriding a gift.

32 c i ca o soţie adulteră care-i preferă pe străini în locul soţului ei.

The wife who committeth adultery -- Under her husband -- doth receive strangers.

33 U nei prostituate i se dau daruri, dar în cazul tău tu ai fost cea care ai dat daruri tuturor amanţilor tăi. Le-ai oferit cadouri ca să vină la tine din toate părţile, pentru destrăbălare.

To all whores they give a gift, And -- thou hast given thy gifts to all thy lovers, And dost bribe them to come in unto thee, From round about -- in thy whoredoms.

34 Î n ce priveşte destrăbălările tale, ai fost diferită de celelalte femei, pentru că tu nu ai avut căutare ca prostituată, căci, în loc să primeşti plată, ai dat plată. De aceea ai fost diferită.

And the contrary is in thee from women in thy whoredoms, That after thee none doth go a-whoring; And in thy giving a gift, And a gift hath not been given to thee; And thou art become contrary.

35 P rin urmare, prostituato, ascultă Cuvântul Domnului!

Therefore, O whore, hear a word of Jehovah,

36 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Pentru că ţi-ai risipit avuţia şi ţi-ai expus goliciunea prin desfrânările tale cu amanţii şi cu toţi idolii tăi urâcioşi şi pentru că le-ai dat acestora sângele fiilor tăi,

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of thy brass being poured forth, And thy nakedness is revealed in thy whoredoms near thy lovers, And near all the idols of thy abominations, And according to the blood of thy sons, Whom thou hast given to them;

37 d e aceea, iată, îi voi strânge laolaltă pe toţi amanţii cu care te-ai desfătat, pe toţi aceia pe care i-ai iubit şi pe toţi aceia pe care i-ai urât. Îi voi strânge împotriva ta din toate părţile şi îţi voi expune goliciunea înaintea lor. Şi astfel ei îţi vor vedea întreaga goliciune.

Therefore, lo, I am assembling all thy lovers, To whom thou hast been sweet, And all whom thou hast loved, Besides all whom thou hast hated; And I have assembled them by thee round about, And have revealed thy nakedness to them, And they have seen all thy nakedness.

38 T e voi judeca sub acuzaţia de adulter şi vărsare de sânge şi vei gusta cât de sângeroasă este furia şi gelozia Mea.

And I have judged thee -- judgments of adultresses, And of women shedding blood, And have given thee blood, fury, and jealousy.

39 T e voi da în mâinile lor, astfel că ei îţi vor dărâma sanctuarele cele înalte, îţi vor zdrobi înălţimile, te vor dezbrăca de hainele tale, îţi vor lua minunatele tale podoabe şi te vor lăsa goală şi neacoperită.

And I have given thee into their hand, And they have thrown down thine arch, And they have broken down thy high places, And they have stript thee of thy garments, And they have taken thy beauteous vessels, And they have left thee naked and bare.

40 V or veni împotriva ta în grup, te vor ucide cu pietre şi te vor tăia cu săbiile.

And have caused an assembly to come up against thee, And stoned thee with stones, And thrust thee through with their swords,

41 Î ţi vor da foc caselor şi te vor judeca înaintea multor femei. Voi pune astfel capăt prostituţiei tale şi nu îţi vei mai plăti iubiţii.

And burnt thy houses with fire, And done in thee judgments before the eyes of many women, And I have caused thee to cease from going a-whoring, And also a gift thou givest no more.

42 A poi voi da odihnă furiei Mele îndreptate împotriva ta şi voi îndepărta de la tine gelozia Mea; Mă voi linişti şi nu voi mai fi mânios.

And I have caused My fury against thee to rest, And My jealousy hath turned aside from thee, And I have been quiet, and I am not angry any more.

43 P entru că nu ţi-ai amintit de zilele tinereţii tale, ci M-ai stârnit prin toate aceste lucruri, iată că şi Eu voi face ca purtarea ta să cadă asupra capului tău, zice Stăpânul Domn, şi nu vei mai săvârşi nelegiuiri cu toate urâciunile tale.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, And dost give trouble to Me in all these, Lo, even I also thy way at first gave up, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I did not this thought for all thine abominations.

44 I ată că toţi cei ce spun zicători, vor spune despre tine următoarea zicală: ‘Precum e mama, aşa e şi fiica!’

Lo, every one using a simile, Doth use a simile concerning thee, saying: As the mother -- her daughter!

45 T u semeni cu mama ta, care s-a scârbit de soţul şi de fiii ei, şi semeni cu surorile tale, care s-au scârbit de soţii şi de fiii lor. Mama voastră a fost hitită, iar tatăl vostru – amorit.

Thy mother's daughter thou, Loathing her husband and her sons, And thy sisters' sister thou, Who loathed their husbands and their sons, Your mother a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

46 S ora ta cea mare a fost Samaria. Ea locuia la nord de tine împreună cu fiicele ei. Sora ta cea mică a fost Sodoma. Ea locuia la sud de tine împreună cu fiicele ei.

And thine elder sister Samaria, she and her daughters, Who is dwelling at thy left hand, And thy younger sister, who is dwelling on thy right hand, Sodom and her daughters.

47 T u nu numai că ai umblat pe căile lor şi ai săvârşit urâciunile lor, ci, ca şi cum atât ar fi fost prea puţin, te-ai stricat mai mult decât ele în toate umbletele tale.

And -- in their ways thou hast not walked, And according to their abominations done, As a little thing it hath been loathed, And thou dost more corruptly than they in all thy ways.

48 V iu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că sora ta, Sodoma, şi fiicele ei n-au făcut ceea ce tu şi fiicele tale aţi făcut.

I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done -- she and her daughters -- As thou hast done -- thou and thy daughters.

49 I ată care a fost nelegiuirea surorii tale, Sodoma: era mândră, îmbuibată de hrană, ea şi fiicele ei trăind în lâncezeală şi nepăsare. Ele nu sprijineau mâna săracului şi a nevoiaşului.

Lo, this hath been the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, Arrogancy, fulness of bread, and quiet ease, Have been to her and to her daughters, And the hand of the afflicted and needy She hath not strengthened.

50 S -au îngâmfat şi au săvârşit urâciuni înaintea Mea. Când am văzut ce fac, le-am îndepărtat.

And they are haughty and do abomination before Me, And I turn them aside when I have seen.

51 I ar Samaria nu a păcătuit nici pe jumătate din cât ai păcătuit tu. Urâciunile tale au fost mai multe decât ale lor. De fapt prin toate urâciunile pe care le-ai săvârşit, le-ai făcut pe surorile tale să pară drepte.

As to Samaria, as the half of thy sins -- she hath not sinned, And thou dost multiply thine abominations more than they, And dost justify thy sisters by all thy abominations that thou hast done.

52 D e aceea poartă-ţi şi tu ruşinea cu care le-ai făcut pe surorile tale să pară drepte! Căci păcatele tale, care te-au făcut mai vrednică de dispreţ decât ele, le-au făcut pe ele să pară mai drepte decât tine! Acum, fii şi tu ruşinată şi poartă-ţi ruşinea care le-a făcut pe surorile tale să pară drepte!

Thou also -- bear thy shame, That thou hast adjudged to thy sisters, Because of thy sins that thou hast done more abominably than they, They are more righteous than thou, And thou, also, be ashamed and bear thy shame, In thy justifying thy sisters.

53 Î i voi aduce însă înapoi atât pe captivii lor – pe captivii Sodomei şi ai fiicelor ei şi pe captivii Samariei şi ai fiicelor ei – cât şi pe captivii tăi alături de ei,

And I have turned back their captivity, The captivity of Sodom and her daughters, And the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, And the captivity of thy captives in their midst,

54 c a şi tu să-ţi porţi ruşinea şi să fii umilită pentru tot ce ai făcut! Le vei fi astfel o pricină de mângâiere.

So that thou dost bear thy shame, And hast been ashamed of all that thou hast done, In thy comforting them.

55 C ând sora ta, Sodoma, împreună cu fiicele ei, se vor întoarce la starea lor de dinainte şi sora ta, Samaria, împreună cu fiicele ei, se vor întoarce la starea lor de dinainte, atunci te vei întoarce şi tu împreună cu fiicele tale, la starea voastră de dinainte.

And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, Do turn back to their former state, And Samaria and her daughters Do turn back to their former state, And thou and thy daughters do turn back to your former state.

56 N u aminteai nimic de Sodoma, sora ta, în ziua înălţării tale,

And thy sister Sodom hath not been for a report in thy mouth, In the day of thine arrogancy,

57 î nainte de a ţi se descoperi răutatea. Acum însă tu eşti de batjocura fiicelor Edomului şi a tuturor vecinelor lor, a fiicelor filistenilor, a celor ce te dispreţuiesc de pretutindeni!

Before thy wickedness is revealed, As the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram, And of all her neighbours, the daughters of the Philistines, Who are despising thee round about.

58 V ei purta acum pedeapsa pentru desfrânarea ta şi pentru urâciunile tale, zice Domnul.» Promisiunea unui legământ veşnic

Thy devices and thine abominations, Thou hast borne them, an affirmation of Jehovah.

59 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Îţi voi face la fel cum ai făcut şi tu, tu care ai dispreţuit jurământul, rupând legământul.

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have dealt with thee as thou hast done, In that thou hast despised an oath -- to break covenant.

60 D ar Îmi voi aminti de legământul făcut cu tine în tinereţea ta şi voi încheia cu tine un legământ veşnic.

And I -- I have remembered My covenant with thee, In the days of thy youth, And I have established for thee a covenant age-during.

61 A tunci îţi vei aminti de umbletele tale şi-ţi va fi ruşine când le vei primi pe sora ta cea mare şi pe sora ta cea mică. Ţi le voi da ca surori, dar nu pe temeiul legământului Meu făcut cu tine.

And thou hast remembered thy ways, And thou hast been ashamed, In thy receiving thy sisters -- Thine elder with thy younger, And I have given them to thee for daughters, And not by thy covenant.

62 E u voi încheia legământul Meu cu tine şi vei şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.

And I -- I have established My covenant with thee, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.

63 C ând voi face ispăşire pentru tot ce ai făcut, îţi vei aduce aminte de trecutul tău, îţi va fi ruşine şi nu vei mai deschide niciodată gura din cauza umilinţei în care te vei afla, zice Stăpânul Domn. »“

So that thou dost remember, And thou hast been ashamed, And there is not to thee any more an opening of the mouth because of thy shame, In My receiving atonement for thee, For all that thou hast done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'
