1 Î n timp ce Petru şi Ioan vorbeau poporului, au venit la ei preoţii, comandantul gărzii Templului şi saducheii,

And as they are speaking unto the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees --

2 f oarte supăraţi de faptul că ei dădeau învăţătură poporului şi vesteau în Isus învierea dintre cei morţi.

being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the rising again out of the dead --

3 A u pus mâinile pe ei şi i-au aruncat în închisoare până în ziua următoare, căci era deja seară.

and they laid hands upon them, and did put them in custody unto the morrow, for it was evening already;

4 Î nsă mulţi dintre cei ce auziseră cuvântarea au crezut, şi numărul bărbaţilor a ajuns la aproape cinci mii.

and many of those hearing the word did believe, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.

5 Î n ziua următoare s-au adunat în Ierusalim conducătorii lor, bătrânii şi cărturarii,

And it came to pass upon the morrow, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,

6 p recum şi Ana – marele preot –, Caiafa, Ioan, Alexandru şi toţi cei care erau din neamul marilor preoţi.

and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the chief priest,

7 I -au pus pe apostoli să stea în mijloc şi i-au întrebat: – Prin ce putere sau în numele cui aţi făcut aceasta?

and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, `In what power, or in what name did ye do this?'

8 A tunci Petru, plin de Duhul Sfânt, le-a răspuns: – Conducători şi bătrâni ai poporului,

Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them: `Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

9 d acă astăzi suntem cercetaţi pentru o faptă bună făcută unui om neputincios şi pentru felul în care a fost el vindecat,

if we to-day are examined concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he hath been saved,

10 s ă vă fie cunoscut vouă tuturor şi întregului popor Israel că acest om stă sănătos înaintea voastră în Numele lui Isus Cristos din Nazaret, pe Care voi L-aţi răstignit, dar pe Care Dumnezeu L-a înviat dintre cei morţi!

be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye did crucify, whom God did raise out of the dead, in him hath this one stood by before you whole.

11 E l este: „piatra respinsă de către voi, zidarii, care a devenit piatra din capul unghiului. “

`This is the stone that was set at nought by you -- the builders, that became head of a corner;

12 Î n nimeni altul nu este mântuire, căci nu este sub cer nici un alt nume dat oamenilor, în care trebuie să fim mântuiţi!

and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that hath been given among men, in which it behoveth us to be saved.'

13 C ând au văzut ei îndrăzneala lui Petru şi a lui Ioan şi când şi-au dat seama că erau oameni neînvăţaţi şi de rând, s-au mirat şi au înţeles că fuseseră cu Isus.

And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are men unlettered and plebeian, they were wondering -- they were taking knowledge also of them that with Jesus they had been --

14 V ăzându-l însă stând lângă ei pe omul care fusese vindecat, n-au avut ce să zică.

and seeing the man standing with them who hath been healed, they had nothing to say against,

15 P rin urmare, le-au poruncit să iasă afară din Sinedriu şi s-au sfătuit între ei, zicând:

and having commanded them to go away out of the sanhedrim, they took counsel with one another,

16 „ Ce să le facem oamenilor acestora? Căci este ştiut de toţi locuitorii Ierusalimului că, prin ei, s-a făcut un semn clar şi nu putem nega.

saying, `What shall we do to these men? because that, indeed, a notable sign hath been done through them, to all those dwelling in Jerusalem manifest, and we are not able to deny;

17 Î n schimb, pentru ca acest lucru să nu se răspândească şi mai departe în popor, să-i ameninţăm, ca să nu mai vorbească nici unui om în Numele acesta!“

but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them no more to speak in this name to any man.'

18 I -au chemat şi le-au poruncit să nu mai vorbească deloc şi să nu mai dea învăţătură în Numele lui Isus.

And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus,

19 Î nsă Petru şi Ioan le-au răspuns: „Judecaţi voi înşivă dacă este drept înaintea lui Dumnezeu să ascultăm mai mult de voi decât de Dumnezeu!

and Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;

20 C ăci nu putem să nu vorbim despre ceea ce am văzut şi auzit!“

for we cannot but speak what we did see and hear.'

21 D upă ce i-au ameninţat din nou, le-au dat drumul, negăsind un mod prin care să-i pedepsească, din pricina poporului, deoarece toţi Îl slăveau pe Dumnezeu pentru cele întâmplate.

And they having further threatened, let them go, finding nothing how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which hath been done,

22 C ăci omul cu care se făcuse acest semn de vindecare avea mai mult de patruzeci de ani. Credincioşii se roagă pentru a primi îndrăzneală

for above forty years of age was the man upon whom had been done this sign of the healing.

23 D upă ce li s-a dat drumul, s-au dus la ai lor şi le-au istorisit tot ce le spuseseră conducătorii preoţilor şi bătrânii.

And being let go, they went unto their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said unto them,

24 C ând au auzit ei aceste lucruri, şi-au ridicat glasul în acelaşi gând către Dumnezeu şi au zis: „Stăpâne peste toate, Tu, Cel Care ai făcut cerul, pământul, marea şi tot ce este în ele,

and they having heard, with one accord did lift up the voice unto God, and said, `Lord, thou God, who didst make the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that in them,

25 T u ai vorbit, prin Duhul Sfânt, prin gura strămoşului nostru David, slujitorul Tău, astfel: «De ce se întărâtă neamurile şi de ce cugetă popoarele lucruri deşarte?

who, through the mouth of David thy servant, did say, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?

26 R egii pământului iau poziţie şi conducătorii se strâng laolaltă, împotriva Domnului şi împotriva Unsului Său.»

the kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ;

27 C ăci într-adevăr, împotriva Slujitorului Tău cel sfânt, Isus, pe Care L-ai uns Tu, s-au adunat în această cetate Irod, Ponţiu Pilat, neamurile şi poporul lui Israel,

for gathered together of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou didst anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,

28 c a să facă, de fapt, tot ceea ce ai hotărât mai dinainte să se întâmple prin mâna Ta şi planul Tău.

to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel did determine before to come to pass.

29 Ş i acum, Doamne, uită-te la ameninţările lor şi dă-le robilor Tăi toată îndrăzneala ca să vestească Cuvântul Tău!

`And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Thy servants with all freedom to speak Thy word,

30 Î ntinde-Ţi mâna ca să se facă vindecări, semne şi minuni prin Numele Slujitorului Tău cel sfânt, Isus!“

in the stretching forth of Thy hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Thy holy child Jesus.'

31 D upă ce s-au rugat, locul unde erau adunaţi s-a cutremurat, şi toţi au fost umpluţi de Duhul Sfânt şi au început să vestească Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu cu îndrăzneală. Credincioşii îşi împart între ei averile

And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,

32 M ulţimea celor ce crezuseră era una în inimă şi gând şi nici unul nu spunea că vreunul din bunurile lui este al lui, ci aveau toate în comun.

and of the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were to them in common.

33 A postolii depuneau mărturie cu mare putere despre învierea Domnului Isus şi un mare har era peste ei toţi.

And with great power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them all,

34 C ăci nu era nimeni printre ei în nevoie, pentru că toţi cei care aveau în proprietatea lor ogoare sau case le vindeau, iar banii obţinuţi pe lucrurile vândute îi aduceau

for there was not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling, were bringing the prices of the thing sold,

35 ş i-i puneau la picioarele apostolilor; apoi erau împărţiţi fiecăruia după cum avea nevoie.

and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as any one had need.

36 I osif, numit de apostoli şi Barnabas, care tradus înseamnă „Fiul încurajării“, un levit originar din Cipru,

And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas -- which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort -- a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,

37 a vândut un ogor care-i aparţinea şi apoi a adus banii şi i-a pus la picioarele apostolilor.

a field being his, having sold, brought the money and laid at the feet of the apostles.
