1 Î n ziua aceea Debora şi Barak, fiul lui Abinoam, au cântat această cântare:

2 „ Când căpeteniile s-au pus în fruntea lui Israel, poporul s-a arătat gata de luptă! Binecuvântaţi pe Domnul!

3 A scultaţi, regi! Luaţi aminte, domnitori! Eu, da eu, voi cânta Domnului, voi cânta spre lauda Domnului, Dumnezeul lui Israel:

Hear, ye kings; give ear, ye princes, I, to Jehovah, I -- I do sing, I sing praise to Jehovah, God of Israel.

4 D oamne, când ai ieşit din Seir, când ai mărşăluit din ţinutul Edomului, pământul s-a cutremurat, cerurile s-au clătinat şi norii au turnat ape!

Jehovah, in Thy going forth out of Seir, In Thy stepping out of the field of Edom, Earth trembled, also the heavens dropped, Also thick clouds dropped water.

5 M unţii s-au zdruncinat înaintea Domnului, Sinaiul acesta s-a clătinat în faţa Domnului!

Hills flowed from the face of Jehovah, This one -- Sinai -- From the face of Jehovah, God of Israel.

6 P e vremea lui Şamgar, fiul lui Anat, şi pe vremea Iaelei, drumurile erau părăsite, şi drumeţii călătoreau pe căi ocolite!

7 Î ncetase viaţa din satele lui Israel, se sfârşise, până când m-am ridicat eu, Debora, m-am ridicat ca o mamă în Israel!

9 I nima mea este alături de căpeteniile lui Israel, care s-au arătat gata de luptă în popor! Binecuvântaţi pe Domnul!

10 V oi, care încălecaţi pe măgăriţe albe, voi, care staţi pe covoare, voi, care umblaţi pe drum, ascultaţi! Ascultaţi

Riders on white asses -- Sitters on a long robe -- And walkers by the way -- meditate!

11 v ocea cântăreţilor de lângă izvoare, acolo ei pomenesc isprăvile Domnului, isprăvile vitejilor Lui în Israel! Atunci poporul Domnului s-a coborât la porţi.

12 T rezeşte-te, trezeşte-te, Debora! Trezeşte-te, trezeşte-te şi cântă o cântare! Ridică-te, Barak, fiu al lui Abinoam, du-ţi în captivitate prizonierii!

13 A tunci, cei ce au rămas s-au dus la nobili, poporul Domnului a venit la mine cu cei tari.

15 C ârmuitorii lui Isahar au fost alături de Debora, şi Isahar l-a însoţit pe Barak, grăbindu-se după el în vale. În ţinuturile lui Ruben însă s-a ţinut mare sfat!

16 D e ce ai rămas printre staule ca să asculţi behăitul turmelor? În ţinuturile lui Ruben mare a fost sfatul!

17 G hilad a rămas de cealaltă parte a Iordanului; şi Dan, de ce a rămas nepăsător la corăbii? Aşer a rămas pe ţărmul mării şi s-a odihnit pe limanurile lui.

18 Z abulon este un popor care şi-a riscat viaţa până la moarte; Neftali la fel, pe dealurile ţării.

19 R egii au venit şi s-au luptat. Regii Canaanului s-au luptat atunci la Taanah, lângă apele Meghido. N-au luat nici un câştig, nici măcar un pic de argint.

20 S telele din ceruri s-au luptat, s-au luptat din cărările lor cu Sisera.

From the heavens they fought: The stars from their highways fought with Sisera.

21 U edul Chişon i-a luat, vechiul ued, uedul Chişon. Mărşăluieşte, suflete al meu! Fii tare!

22 A tunci copitele cailor au izbit pământul; armăsarii au alergat în galop, în galopul lor răsunător.

27 E l a căzut şi s-a ghemuit, la picioarele ei s-a plecat adânc, a căzut şi s-a ghemuit; în locul în care s-a ghemuit, acolo a căzut ucis!

Between her feet he bowed -- He fell, he lay down; Between her feet he bowed, he fell; Where he bowed, there he fell -- destroyed.

28 P e fereastră, printre zăbrele, mama lui Sisera se uita şi bocea: «De ce întârzie carele lui să vină? De ce rămâne în urmă zgomotul carelor lui?»

Through the window she hath looked out -- Yea, she crieth out -- the mother of Sisera, Through the lattice: Wherefore is his chariot delaying to come? Wherefore tarried have the steps of his chariot?

29 P rinţesele ei înţelepte îi răspund şi ea îşi răspunde singură:

The wise ones, her princesses, answer her, Yea, she returneth her sayings to herself:

30 « Oare nu îşi caută şi îşi împart ei prada? O femeie, două femei de fiecare bărbat; pradă de stofă colorată pentru Sisera, pradă de stofă colorată, brodată, câte două stofe colorate, brodate, ca pradă, pentru gâtul meu.»

Do they not find? -- they apportion spoil, A female -- two females -- for every head, Spoil of finger-work for Sisera, Spoil of embroidered finger-work, Finger-work -- a pair of embroidered things, For the necks of the spoil!

31 A şa să piară toţi duşmanii Tăi, Doamne! Dar cei ce-L iubesc să ajungă ca soarele la amiază!“ Apoi în ţară a fost pace timp de patruzeci de ani.

So do all Thine enemies perish, O Jehovah, And those loving Him As the going out of the sun in its might!' and the land resteth forty years.
