1 C ât despre vremuri şi date, fraţilor, nu aveţi nevoie să vi se scrie,

And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,

2 p entru că voi înşivă ştiţi bine că ziua Domnului va veni ca un hoţ noaptea.

for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,

3 C ând vor spune: „Pace şi siguranţă!“, atunci un dezastru neaşteptat va veni asupra lor, ca durerile naşterii peste pântecele celei însărcinate şi nu vor putea nicicum să scape.

for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail her who is with child, and they shall not escape;

4 Î nsă voi, fraţilor, nu sunteţi în întuneric, aşa încât ziua aceea să vă surprindă ca un hoţ.

and ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;

5 V oi toţi sunteţi fii ai luminii şi fii ai zilei. Noi nu suntem fii ai nopţii sau ai întunericului.

all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,

6 A şadar, să nu mai dormim, cum fac alţii, ci să veghem şi să fim treji,

so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,

7 p entru că cei ce dorm, dorm noaptea, iar cei ce beau, beau noaptea.

for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,

8 D ar noi, care suntem fii ai zilei, să fim treji, să ne punem platoşa credinţei şi a dragostei şi să avem drept coif nădejdea mântuirii.

and we, being of the day -- let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet -- a hope of salvation,

9 C ăci Dumnezeu nu ne-a destinat pentru mânie, ci pentru a primi mântuirea, prin Domnul nostru Isus Cristos,

because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 C are a murit pentru noi, pentru ca, fie că suntem treji, fie că dormim, să trăim împreună cu El.

who did die for us, that whether we wake -- whether we sleep -- together with him we may live;

11 D e aceea, încurajaţi-vă unii pe alţii şi întăriţi-vă unii pe alţii, aşa cum, de fapt, şi faceţi. Instrucţiuni finale

wherefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.

12 V ă cerem, fraţilor, să-i respectaţi pe cei ce se ostenesc între voi, care vă conduc în Domnul şi vă sfătuiesc.

And we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,

13 P reţuiţi-i în dragoste, datorită lucrării lor! Trăiţi în pace între voi!

and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;

14 V ă încurajăm, fraţilor, să-i mustraţi pe cei leneşi, să-i încurajaţi pe cei descurajaţi, să-i ajutaţi pe cei slabi, să aveţi răbdare cu toţi!

and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;

15 A veţi grijă ca nimeni să nu întoarcă rău pentru rău, ci urmăriţi întotdeauna să faceţi binele, atât unul altuia, cât şi tuturor.

see no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;

16 B ucuraţi-vă întotdeauna!

always rejoice ye;

17 R ugaţi-vă neîncetat!

continually pray ye;

18 M ulţumiţi în orice împrejurări, pentru că aceasta este voia lui Dumnezeu, în Cristos Isus, pentru voi!

in every thing give thanks, for this the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

19 N u stingeţi Duhul!

The Spirit quench not;

20 N u dispreţuiţi profeţiile,

prophesyings despise not;

21 c i cercetaţi toate lucrurile şi păstraţi ce este bun!

all things prove; that which is good hold fast;

22 F eriţi-vă de orice rău!

from all appearance of evil abstain ye;

23 Î nsuşi Dumnezeul păcii să vă sfinţească în toate şi să vă păstreze întreaga fiinţă – duhul, sufletul şi trupul vostru – fără pată la venirea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos.

and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;

24 C el Care v-a chemat este credincios şi va face lucrul acesta.

stedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do.

25 F raţilor, rugaţi-vă şi pentru noi!

Brethren, pray for us;

26 S alutaţi-i pe toţi fraţii cu o sărutare sfântă!

salute all the brethren in an holy kiss;

27 V ă cer înaintea Domnului ca această scrisoare să le fie citită tuturor fraţilor.

I charge you the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;

28 H arul Domnului nostru Isus Cristos să fie cu voi! (Amin).

the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you! Amen.
