1 D ar în prima zi a săptămânii, foarte de dimineaţă, ele au venit la mormânt, aducând miresmele pe care le pregătiseră.

And on the first of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bearing the spices they made ready, and certain with them,

2 A u găsit rostogolită piatra de la intrarea mormântului,

and they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb,

3 i ar când au intrat, n-au găsit trupul Domnului Isus.

and having gone in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 Î n timp ce erau înmărmurite din cauza acestui lucru, iată că doi bărbaţi în haine strălucitoare au stat lângă ele.

And it came to pass, while they are perplexed about this, that lo, two men stood by them in glittering apparel,

5 Î ngrozite, ele şi-au plecat feţele la pământ. Dar ei le-au zis: „De ce-L căutaţi pe Cel Viu între cei morţi?

and on their having become afraid, and having inclined the face to the earth, they said to them, `Why do ye seek the living with the dead?

6 N u este aici, ci a fost înviat! Aduceţi-vă aminte ce v-a spus pe când era încă în Galileea,

he is not here, but was raised; remember how he spake to you, being yet in Galilee,

7 c ând zicea că Fiul Omului trebuie să fie trădat în mâinile păcătoşilor şi să fie răstignit, iar a treia zi să învie.“

saying -- It behoveth the Son of Man to be delivered up to the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again.'

8 Ş i ele şi-au adus aminte de cuvintele Lui.

And they remembered his sayings,

9 C ând s-au întors de la mormânt, i-au anunţat despre toate aceste lucruri pe cei unsprezece şi pe toţi ceilalţi.

and having turned back from the tomb told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

10 C ele care le-au spus apostolilor aceste lucruri erau: Maria Magdalena, Ioana, Maria – mama lui Iacov – şi celelalte care erau împreună cu ele.

And it was the Magdalene Mary, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women with them, who told unto the apostles these things,

11 Î nsă cuvintele acestea li s-au părut basme şi nu le-au crezut pe femei.

and their sayings appeared before them as idle talk, and they were not believing them.

12 P etru însă s-a ridicat şi a alergat la mormânt. Când s-a aplecat ca să se uite înăuntru, a văzut doar fâşiile de pânză. Apoi s-a întors acasă, mirat de ce s-a întâmplat. Pe drumul spre Emaus

And Peter having risen, did run to the tomb, and having stooped down he seeth the linen clothes lying alone, and he went away to his own home, wondering at that which was come to pass.

13 Î n aceeaşi zi, iată că doi dintre ei se duceau spre un sat numit Emaus, care era la o distanţă de şaizeci de stadii de Ierusalim.

And, lo, two of them were going on during that day to a village, distant sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, the name of which Emmaus,

14 A ceştia vorbeau unul cu altul despre lucrurile care se întâmplaseră.

and they were conversing with one another about all these things that have happened.

15 Î n timp ce vorbeau şi se întrebau, Isus Însuşi S-a apropiat şi mergea alături de ei.

And it came to pass in their conversing and reasoning together, that Jesus himself, having come nigh, was going on with them,

16 D ar ochii lor erau împiedicaţi să-L recunoască.

and their eyes were holden so as not to know him,

17 E l i-a întrebat: – Ce vorbe sunt acestea pe care le schimbaţi între voi pe drum? Ei s-au oprit, uitându-se trişti,

and he said unto them, `What these words that ye exchange with one another, walking, and ye are sad?'

18 i ar unul dintre ei, pe nume Cleopa, i-a răspuns: – Tu eşti singurul străin în Ierusalim, de nu ştii ce s-a întâmplat în el în zilele acestea?!

And the one, whose name was Cleopas, answering, said unto him, `Art thou alone such a stranger in Jerusalem, that thou hast not known the things that came to pass in it in these days?'

19 – Ce anume? i-a întrebat El. – Cele privitoare la Isus din Nazaret, i-au răspuns ei, Care era un profet puternic în faptă şi cuvânt înaintea lui Dumnezeu şi a întregului popor.

And he said to them, `What things?' And they said to him, `The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who became a man -- a prophet -- powerful in deed and word, before God and all the people,

20 Ş i cum conducătorii preoţilor şi conducătorii noştri L-au dat să fie condamnat la moarte şi L-au răstignit.

how also the chief priests and our rulers did deliver him up to a judgment of death, and crucified him;

21 N oi însă speram că El este Cel Ce avea să-l răscumpere pe Israel. Da, şi pe lângă toate acestea, iată că aceasta este a treia zi de când s-au întâmplat aceste lucruri!

and we were hoping that he it is who is about to redeem Israel, and also with all these things, this third day is passing to-day, since these things happened.

22 M ai mult, nişte femei de-ale noastre ne-au uimit cu totul. Ele au fost dis-de-dimineaţă la mormânt

`And certain women of ours also astonished us, coming early to the tomb,

23 ş i nu I-au mai găsit trupul. Când au venit, ne-au spus că au văzut o vedenie cu îngeri care le-au spus că El trăieşte.

and not having found his body, they came, saying also to have seen an apparition of messengers, who say he is alive,

24 U nii din cei ce erau cu noi s-au dus la mormânt şi au găsit exact aşa cum au spus femeile, dar pe El nu L-au văzut.

and certain of those with us went away unto the tomb, and found as even the women said, and him they saw not.'

25 E l le-a zis: – O, cât de nesăbuiţi şi de înceţi la inimă sunteţi când este vorba să credeţi tot ce au spus profeţii!

And he said unto them, `O inconsiderate and slow in heart, to believe on all that the prophets spake!

26 N u trebuia oare Cristosul să sufere aceste lucruri şi să intre în slava Lui?

Was it not behoving the Christ these things to suffer, and to enter into his glory?'

27 Ş i, începând de la Moise şi de la toţi profeţii, le-a explicat ce era scris cu privire la El în toate Scripturile.

and having begun from Moses, and from all the prophets, he was expounding to them in all the Writings the things about himself.

28 C ând s-au apropiat de satul în care mergeau, El s-a făcut că vrea să meargă mai departe.

And they came nigh to the village whither they were going, and he made an appearance of going on further,

29 D ar ei au stăruit de El, zicând: – Rămâi cu noi, pentru că este spre seară şi ziua este deja pe sfârşite! Astfel El a intrat să rămână cu ei.

and they constrained him, saying, `Remain with us, for it is toward evening,' and the day did decline, and he went in to remain with them.

30 Î n timp ce stătea la masă cu ei, a luat pâinea, a rostit binecuvântarea, apoi a frânt -o şi le-a dat-o.

And it came to pass, in his reclining (at meat) with them, having taken the bread, he blessed, and having broken, he was giving to them,

31 A tunci li s-au deschis ochii şi L-au recunoscut, dar El S-a făcut nevăzut dinaintea lor.

and their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became unseen by them.

32 Ş i-au zis unul altuia: „Nu ne ardea inima (în noi) când ne vorbea pe drum şi când ne deschidea Scripturile?“

And they said one to another, `Was not our heart burning within us, as he was speaking to us in the way, and as he was opening up to us the Writings?'

33 S -au ridicat chiar în ceasul acela, s-au întors la Ierusalim şi i-au găsit adunaţi laolaltă pe cei unsprezece şi pe cei care erau împreună cu ei.

And they, having risen up the same hour, turned back to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven, and those with them,

34 E i le-au zis: „Domnul a înviat într-adevăr şi i S-a arătat lui Simon!“

saying -- `The Lord was raised indeed, and was seen by Simon;'

35 Ş i le-au istorisit ce s-a întâmplat pe drum şi cum li S-a făcut cunoscut la frângerea pâinii. Isus li Se arată ucenicilor

and they were telling the things in the way, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread,

36 Î n timp ce spuneau ei aceste lucruri, El Însuşi a stat în mijlocul lor şi le-a zis: „Pace vouă!“

and as they are speaking these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, `Peace -- to you;'

37 Î ngroziţi şi înspăimântaţi, ei credeau că văd un duh.

and being amazed, and becoming affrighted, they were thinking themselves to see a spirit.

38 E l le-a zis: „De ce sunteţi tulburaţi şi de ce vi se ridică astfel de îndoieli în inimile voastre?

And he said to them, `Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do reasonings come up in your hearts?

39 U itaţi-vă la mâinile şi la picioarele Mele: Eu Însumi sunt! Atingeţi-Mă şi vedeţi: un duh n-are carne şi oase, aşa cum vedeţi că am Eu!“

see my hands and my feet, that I am he; handle me and see, because a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me having.'

40 Ş i spunând aceasta, le-a arătat mâinile şi picioarele Lui.

And having said this, he shewed to them the hands and the feet,

41 D ar pentru că ei, de bucurie, tot nu credeau şi se mirau, le-a zis: „Aveţi aici ceva de mâncare?“

and while they are not believing from the joy, and wondering, he said to them, `Have ye anything here to eat?'

42 I -au dat o bucată de peşte fript (şi un fagure de miere),

and they gave to him part of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb,

43 i ar El le-a luat şi le-a mâncat în faţa lor.

and having taken, he did eat before them,

44 A poi le-a zis: „Acestea sunt lucrurile pe care vi le spuneam când încă eram cu voi, şi anume că trebuie să se împlinească tot ceea ce este scris despre Mine în Legea lui Moise, în Profeţi şi în Psalmi.“

and he said to them, `These the words that I spake unto you, being yet with you, that it behoveth to be fulfilled all the things that are written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, about me.'

45 A tunci le-a deschis mintea, ca să înţeleagă Scripturile,

Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings,

46 ş i le-a zis: „Aşa este scris, şi anume Cristosul trebuia să sufere şi să învie dintre cei morţi a treia zi,

and he said to them -- `Thus it hath been written, and thus it was behoving the Christ to suffer, and to rise out of the dead the third day,

47 i ar pocăinţa spre iertarea păcatelor să fie vestită în Numele Lui tuturor neamurilor, începând din Ierusalim.

and reformation and remission of sins to be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem:

48 V oi sunteţi martori ai acestor lucruri.

and ye -- ye are witnesses of these things.

49 I ată, trimit peste voi promisiunea Tatălui Meu; voi însă rămâneţi în cetate până când veţi fi îmbrăcaţi cu putere de sus!“ Înălţarea la cer

`And, lo, I do send the promise of my Father upon you, but ye -- abide ye in the city of Jerusalem till ye be clothed with power from on high.'

50 A poi i-a condus afară, până spre Betania. Şi-a ridicat mâinile şi i-a binecuvântat,

And he led them forth without -- unto Bethany, and having lifted up his hands he did bless them,

51 i ar în timp ce-i binecuvânta s-a depărtat de ei şi a fost luat în cer.

and it came to pass, in his blessing them, he was parted from them, and was borne up to the heaven;

52 E i I s-au închinat şi apoi s-au întors la Ierusalim cu mare bucurie.

and they, having bowed before him, did turn back to Jerusalem with great joy,

53 Ş i tot timpul erau în Templu, lăudându-L şi binecuvântându-L pe Dumnezeu. (Amin.)

and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
