1 Î n vremea aceea, Abia, fiul lui Ieroboam, s-a îmbolnăvit.

At that time was Abijah son of Jeroboam sick,

2 I eroboam i-a zis soţiei sale: „Te rog scoală-te, deghizează-te ca să nu fii recunoscută că eşti soţia lui Ieroboam şi du-te la Şilo. Acolo este profetul Ahia, cel care mi-a spus că eu voi fi rege peste acest popor.

and Jeroboam saith to his wife, `Rise, I pray thee, and change thyself, and they know not that thou wife of Jeroboam, and thou hast gone to Shiloh; lo, there Ahijah the prophet; he spake unto me of king over this people;

3 I a cu tine zece pâini, nişte plăcinte şi un vas cu miere şi du-te la el; el îţi va spune ce se va întâmpla cu copilul.“

and thou hast taken in thy hand ten loaves, and crumbs, and a bottle of honey, and hast gone in unto him; he doth declare to thee what becometh of the youth.'

4 S oţia lui Ieroboam a făcut ce i s-a spus: s-a sculat şi s-a dus la Ahia acasă, în Şilo. Ahia nu putea să vadă pentru că vederea îi slăbise din cauza bătrâneţii,

And the wife of Jeroboam doth so, and riseth, and goeth to Shiloh, and entereth the house of Ahijah, and Ahijah is not able to see, for his eyes have stood because of his age.

5 d ar Domnul îi spusese: „Soţia lui Ieroboam va veni să te întrebe despre fiul ei, căci este bolnav. Să-i vorbeşti aşa şi aşa. Când va ajunge, se va da drept altcineva.“

And Jehovah said unto Ahijah, `Lo, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to seek a word from thee concerning her son, for he is sick; thus and thus thou dost speak unto her, and it cometh to pass at her coming in, that she is making herself strange.'

6 C ând Ahia a auzit zgomotul paşilor ei, în clipa în care intra pe uşă, i-a zis: „Intră, soţia lui Ieroboam! De ce pretinzi că eşti altcineva? Am un mesaj aspru pentru tine.

And it cometh to pass, at Ahijah's hearing the sound of her feet she came in to the opening, that he saith, `Come in, wife of Jeroboam, why is this -- thou art making thyself strange? and I am sent unto thee a sharp thing:

7 D u-te şi spune-i lui Ieroboam ce a zis Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Te-am ridicat din mijlocul poporului şi te-am numit conducător peste poporul Meu, Israel.

Go, say to Jeroboam, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Because that I have made thee high out of the midst of the people, and appoint thee leader over my people Israel,

8 A m rupt regatul de la Casa lui David şi ţi l-am dat ţie, dar tu nu ai fost ca robul Meu David, care a păzit poruncile Mele şi care M-a urmat din toată inima, făcând doar ce este drept înaintea Mea.

and rend the kingdom from the house of David, and give it to thee, -- and thou hast not been as My servant David who kept My commands, and who walked after Me with all his heart, to do only that which right in Mine eyes,

9 T u ai făcut mai mult rău decât toţi cei care au fost înainte de tine. Te-ai dus şi ţi-ai făcut alţi dumnezei şi idoli turnaţi ca să Mă mânii, iar pe Mine M-ai aruncat înapoia ta.

and thou dost evil above all who have been before thee, and goest, and makest to thee other gods and molten images to provoke Me to anger, and Me thou hast cast behind thy back:

10 D e aceea voi aduce nenorocirea peste familia lui Ieroboam; voi nimici orice bărbat din Israel care-i aparţine lui Ieroboam, fie sclav, fie liber şi voi arde familia lui Ieroboam aşa cum arde cineva bălegarul, până va pieri.

`Therefore, lo, I am bringing in evil unto the house of Jeroboam, and have cut off to Jeroboam those sitting on the wall -- shut up and left -- in Israel, and have put away the posterity of the house of Jeroboam, as one putteth away the dung till its consumption;

11 C âinii îi vor mânca pe cei din familia lui Ieroboam care vor muri în cetate, iar păsările cerului îi vor mânca pe cei care vor muri pe câmp.» Căci Domnul a vorbit.

him who dieth of Jeroboam in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth in a field do fowl of the heavens eat, for Jehovah hath spoken.

12 C ât despre tine, ridică-te şi du-te acasă. Când îţi vor păşi picioarele în cetate, copilul va muri.

`And thou, rise, go to thy house; in the going in of thy feet to the city -- hath the lad died;

13 T ot Israelul îl va jeli şi-l va înmormânta. El este singurul dintre cei care-i aparţin lui Ieroboam şi care va fi înmormântat, pentru că el este singurul din familia lui Ieroboam în care s-a găsit ceva bun pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

and all Israel have mourned for him, and buried him, for this one -- by himself -- cometh of Jeroboam unto a grave, because there hath been found in him a good thing towards Jehovah, God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 D omnul Îşi va ridica un rege peste Israel, care va stârpi familia lui Ieroboam. Astăzi este acea zi! Chiar acum!

`And Jehovah hath raised up for Him a king over Israel who cutteth off the house of Jeroboam this day -- and what? -- even now!

15 D omnul îl va lovi pe Israel şi astfel el va fi ca o trestie care se clatină în apă. El îl va dezrădăcina pe Israel din această ţară bună, pe care le-o dăduse strămoşilor lor şi-i va împrăştia dincolo de râu, pentru că şi-au făcut aşere, mâniindu-L pe Domnul.

And Jehovah hath smitten Israel as the reed is moved by the waters, and hath plucked Israel from off this good ground that He gave to their fathers, and scattered them beyond the River, because that they made their shrines, provoking Jehovah to anger;

16 E l îl va părăsi pe Israel din cauza păcatelor pe care Ieroboam le-a săvârşit şi prin care l-a făcut şi pe Israel să păcătuiască.“

and He giveth up Israel because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin.'

17 S oţia lui Ieroboam s-a sculat şi s-a întors la Tirţa. Când ea a păşit peste pragul palatului, copilul a murit.

And the wife of Jeroboam riseth, and goeth, and cometh to Tirzah; she hath come in to the threshold of the house, and the youth dieth;

18 L -au înmormântat şi toţi israeliţii l-au jelit, aşa cum Domnul vorbise prin robul Său, profetul Ahia.

and they bury him, and mourn for him do all Israel, according to the word of Jehovah, that he spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 C elelalte fapte ale lui Ieroboam, războaiele pe care le-a purtat şi felul în care a domnit, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

And the rest of the matters of Jeroboam, how he fought, and how he reigned, lo, they are written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 I eroboam a domnit timp de douăzeci şi doi de ani, apoi s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi. Şi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Nadab. Domnia lui Roboam în Iuda

And the days that Jeroboam reigned twenty and two years, and he lieth with his fathers, and reign doth Nadab his son in his stead.

21 R oboam, fiul lui Solomon, domnea în Iuda. El era în vârstă de patruzeci şi unu de ani când a început să domnească şi a domnit timp de şaptesprezece ani în Ierusalim, cetatea pe care Domnul o alesese dintre toate seminţiile lui Israel pentru a-Şi pune Numele Său în ea. Mama lui era amonită şi se numea Naama.

And Rehoboam son of Solomon hath reigned in Judah; a son of forty and one years Rehoboam in his reigning, and seventeen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah chose to set His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and the name of his mother Naamah the Ammonitess.

22 I uda a făcut ce este rău în ochii Domnului. Ei I-au stârnit gelozia prin păcatele pe care le-au săvârşit, mai mult decât o făcuseră strămoşii lor.

And Judah doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and they make Him zealous above all that their fathers did by their sins that they have sinned.

23 D e asemenea, ei şi-au zidit înălţimi, stâlpi sacri şi aşere pe orice deal înalt şi sub orice copac verde.

And they build -- also they -- for themselves high places, and standing-pillars, and shrines, on every high height, and under every green tree;

24 E rau în ţară chiar şi bărbaţi care se prostituau. Ei au săvârşit toate urâciunile popoarelor pe care Domnul le izgonise dinaintea israeliţilor.

and also a whoremonger hath been in the land; they have done according to all the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.

25 Î n al cincilea an de domnie a regelui Roboam, Şişak, monarhul Egiptului, a înaintat împotriva Ierusalimului.

And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, gone up hath Shishak king of Egypt against Jerusalem,

26 E l a luat comorile Casei Domnului şi comorile palatului regelui; a luat totul. A luat şi toate scuturile de aur făcute de Solomon.

and he taketh the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, yea, the whole he hath taken; and he taketh all the shields of gold that Solomon made.

27 Î n locul lor, regele Roboam a făcut nişte scuturi de bronz, pe care le-a încredinţat căpeteniilor gărzilor, cei care păzeau intrarea palatului regelui.

And king Rehoboam maketh in their stead shields of brass, and hath made a charge on the hand of the heads of the runners, those keeping the opening of the house of the king,

28 D e fiecare dată când regele mergea la Casa Domnului, căpeteniile gărzilor le purtau înaintea lui, după care le aduceau înapoi în odaia gărzilor.

and it cometh to pass, from the going in of the king to the house of Jehovah, the runners bear them, and have brought them back unto the chamber of the runners.

29 C elelalte fapte ale lui Roboam şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“?

And the rest of the matters of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Î ntre Roboam şi Ieroboam a fost război în tot timpul vieţii lor.

And war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days;

31 R oboam s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat alături de părinţii săi, în Cetatea lui David. Mama lui fusese amonita Naama. Apoi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Abia.

and Rehoboam lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers, in the city of David, and the name of his mother Naamah the Ammonitess, and reign doth Abijam his son in his stead.
