1 D upă aceea a strigat cu glas tare în auzul urechilor mele, zicând: „Să se apropie străjerii cetăţii, fiecare cu arma lui de distrugere!“

And He crieth in mine ears -- a loud voice -- saying, `Drawn near have inspectors of the city, and each his destroying weapon in his hand.'

2 D eodată au apărut şase bărbaţi, venind dinspre drumul Porţii de Sus, care este înspre nord, fiecare cu arma lui distrugătoare în mână. Între ei era un om îmbrăcat în haine de in, care avea la brâu o călimară. Ei au venit şi s-au oprit în apropierea altarului de bronz.

And lo, six men are coming from the way of the upper gate, that is facing the north, and each his slaughter-weapon in his hand, and one man in their midst is clothed with linen, and a scribe's inkhorn at his loins, and they come in, and stand near the brazen altar.

3 S lava Dumnezeului lui Israel s-a ridicat dintre heruvimii de unde era şi a venit deasupra pragului Casei. Apoi El l-a chemat pe bărbatul care era îmbrăcat în haine de in şi care avea călimara la brâu.

And the honour of the God of Israel hath gone up from off the cherub, on which it hath been, unto the threshold of the house.

4 D omnul i-a zis: „Străbate cetatea, străbate Ierusalimul şi fă un semn pe frunţile celor ce suspină şi gem din cauza tuturor urâciunilor care se săvârşesc în mijlocul ei.“

And He calleth unto the man who is clothed with linen, who hath the scribe's inkhorn at his loins, and Jehovah saith unto him, `Pass on into the midst of the city, into the midst of Jerusalem, and thou hast made a mark on the foreheads of the men who are sighing and who are groaning for all the abominations that are done in its midst.'

5 I ar celorlalţi le-a zis în auzul urechilor mele: „Străbateţi cetatea în urma lui şi ucideţi! Ochii voştri să nu arate milă şi să nu cruţaţi pe nimeni!

And to the others he said in mine ears, `Pass on into the city after him, and smite; your eye doth not pity, nor do ye spare;

6 B ătrâni şi tineri, fecioare, copii şi femei, pe toţi să-i ucideţi! Însă de toţi aceia care au primit semnul să nu vă atingeţi! Începeţi chiar din Lăcaşul Meu!“ Aşa că ei au început cu bătrânii care erau înaintea Casei.

aged, young man, and virgin, and infant, and women, ye do slay -- to destruction; and against any man on whom the mark ye do not go nigh, and from My sanctuary ye begin.'

7 E l le-a zis: „Pângăriţi Casa şi umpleţi-i curţile cu morţi! Porniţi!“ Ei au pornit şi au început să ucidă prin cetate.

And they begin among the aged men who before the house, and He saith unto them, `Defile the house, and fill the courts with the wounded, go forth.' And they have gone forth and have smitten in the city.

8 Î n timp ce ucideau ei, eu am rămas singur. Atunci am căzut cu faţa la pământ şi am strigat, zicând: – Ah, Stăpâne Doamne! Vei distruge Tu toată rămăşiţa lui Israel, revărsându-Ţi furia peste Ierusalim?

And it cometh to pass, as they are smiting, and I -- I am left -- that I fall on my face, and cry, and say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, art Thou destroying all the remnant of Israel, in Thy pouring out Thy wrath on Jerusalem?'

9 – Păcatul Casei lui Iuda şi al Casei lui Israel este mare, mi-a zis El, este foarte mare. Ţara este plină de vărsare de sânge, iar cetatea este plină de nedreptate, căci ei zic: „ Domnul a părăsit ţara şi Domnul nu vede!“

And He saith unto me, `The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah very very great, and the land is full of blood, and the city hath been full of perverseness, for they have said: Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah is not seeing.

10 D e aceea nu voi avea milă de ei şi nu-i voi cruţa, ci voi face să cadă asupra capului lor faptele lor.

And I also, Mine eye doth not pity, nor do I spare; their way on their own head I have put.'

11 D eodată bărbatul îmbrăcat în haine de in şi cu călimara la brâu s-a întors cu următorul mesaj: „Am făcut cum ai poruncit!“

And lo, the man clothed with linen, at whose loins the inkhorn, is bringing back word, saying, `I have done as Thou hast commanded me.'
