1 D acă vei vedea boul sau oaia fratelui tău rătăcindu-se, să nu fii nepăsător, ci să i le aduci înapoi.

`Thou dost not see the ox of thy brother or his sheep driven away, and hast hidden thyself from them, thou dost certainly turn them back to thy brother;

2 D acă fratele tău nu locuieşte aproape de tine sau dacă nu-l cunoşti, să iei animalul acasă la tine şi să-l păzeşti până va veni după el. Atunci să i-l dai înapoi.

and if thy brother not near unto thee, and thou hast not known him, then thou hast removed it unto the midst of thy house, and it hath been with thee till thy brother seek it, and thou hast given it back to him;

3 L a fel să faci şi cu asinul, cu haina sau cu orice lucru pierdut de cel din poporul tău, pe care el l-a pierdut, iar tu l-ai găsit; să nu fii nepăsător.

and so thou dost to his ass, and so thou dost to his garment, and so thou dost to any lost thing of thy brother's, which is lost by him, and thou hast found it; thou art not able to hide thyself.

4 D acă vei vedea asinul sau boul fratelui tău căzut pe drum, să nu-l ocoleşti, ci să-l ajuţi să se ridice.

`Thou dost not see the ass of thy brother, or his ox, falling in the way, and hast hid thyself from them; thou dost certainly raise up with him.

5 F emeia să nu se îmbrace cu haine bărbăteşti, iar bărbatul să nu se îmbrace cu îmbrăcăminte femeiască, fiindcă Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, detestă pe cel ce face acest lucru.

`The habiliments of a man are not on a woman, nor doth a man put on the garment of a woman, for the abomination of Jehovah thy God any one doing these.

6 D acă vei găsi un cuib de pasăre lângă drum, într-un copac sau pe câmp, cu pui sau ouă, iar mama şezând peste pui sau peste ouă, să nu iei mama împreună cu puii.

`When a bird's nest cometh before thee in the way, in any tree, or on the earth, brood or eggs, and the mother sitting on the brood or on the eggs, thou dost not take the mother with the young ones;

7 C i să dai drumul mamei şi să nu iei decât puii, ca să-ţi fie bine şi să ai viaţă lungă.

thou dost certainly send away the mother, and the young ones dost take to thyself, so that it is well with thee, and thou hast prolonged days.

8 C ând vei construi o casă nouă, să faci un parapet pe acoperiş, ca să nu aduci vină de sânge peste casa ta, dacă va cădea cineva de pe ea.

`When thou buildest a new house, then thou hast made a parapet to thy roof, and thou dost not put blood on thy house when one falleth from it.

9 S ă nu semeni două feluri de seminţe în podgoria ta, ca nu cumva să întinezi şi rodul seminţei pe care ai semănat-o, şi rodul viei.

`Thou dost not sow thy vineyard divers things, lest the fulness of the seed which thou dost sow, and the increase of the vineyard, be separated.

10 S ă nu ari cu un bou şi cu un asin înjugaţi împreună.

`Thou dost not plow with an ox and with an ass together.

11 S ă nu te îmbraci cu o haină ţesută din fire diferite, cum ar fi lâna şi inul ţesute laolaltă.

`Thou dost not put on a mixed cloth, wool and linen together.

12 S ă faci ciucuri la cele patru colţuri ale mantiei cu care te vei înveli.

`Fringes thou dost make to thee on the four skirts of thy covering with which thou dost cover.

13 D acă un bărbat şi-a luat o soţie, iar după ce a intrat la ea, a început s-o urască

`When a man taketh a wife, and hath gone in unto her, and hated her,

14 ş i să-i aducă învinuiri, scoţându-i astfel un nume rău, zicând: «Am luat-o de soţie pe femeia aceasta şi când m-am apropiat de ea nu am găsit nici un semn al fecioriei ei»,

and laid against her actions of words, and brought out against her an evil name, and said, This woman I have taken, and I draw near unto her, and I have not found in her tokens of virginity:

15 a tunci părinţii fetei să ia şi să aducă semnele fecioriei fetei la poartă, înaintea celor din sfatul bătrânilor cetăţii.

`Then hath the father of the damsel -- and her mother -- taken and brought out the tokens of virginity of the damsel unto the elders of the city in the gate,

16 T atăl fetei să spună înaintea sfatului bătrânilor: «Am dat-o pe fiica mea de soţie acestui bărbat, dar el nu o mai iubeşte.

and the father of the damsel hath said unto the elders, My daughter I have given to this man for a wife, and he doth hate her;

17 A cum el o învinuieşte pe fiica mea că nu a fost fecioară, dar iată, acestea sunt semnele fecioriei ei!» Atunci părinţii fetei să desfacă haina înaintea sfatului bătrânilor cetăţii,

and lo, he hath laid actions of words, saying, I have not found to thy daughter tokens of virginity -- and these the tokens of the virginity of my daughter! and they have spread out the garment before the elders of the city.

18 i ar aceştia să-l ia pe bărbatul acela şi să-l pedepsească.

`And the elders of that city have taken the man, and chastise him,

19 S ă-l pună să plătească o sută de şecheli de argint şi să-i dea tatălui fetei, pentru că a scos nume rău unei fecioare israelite. Ea va rămâne soţia lui, iar el nu va putea s-o izgonească toată viaţa lui.

and fined him a hundred silverlings, and given to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought out an evil name on a virgin of Israel, and she is to him for a wife, he is not able to send her away all his days.

20 D ar dacă faptul este adevărat şi fata nu a fost găsită fecioară,

`And if this thing hath been truth -- tokens of virginity have not been found for the damsel --

21 a tunci ei vor trebui s-o aducă la uşa casei tatălui ei ca să fie omorâtă cu pietre de către bărbaţii cetăţii, pentru că a săvârşit o urâciune în Israel, desfrânându-se pe când era în casa tatălui ei. Astfel să nimiciţi răul din mijlocul vostru.

then they have brought out the damsel unto the opening of her father's house, and stoned her have the men of her city with stones, and she hath died, for she hath done folly in Israel, to go a-whoring her father's house; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of thy midst.

22 D acă se va găsi un bărbat culcându-se cu o femeie măritată, să fie omorâţi amândoi, atât bărbatul care s-a culcat cu femeia, cât şi femeia. Să nimiciţi astfel răul din Israel.

`When a man is found lying with a woman, married to a husband, then they have died even both of them, the man who is lying with the woman, also the woman; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of Israel.

23 D acă o fată fecioară este logodită, iar un bărbat o întâlneşte în cetate şi se culcă cu ea,

`When there is a damsel, a virgin, betrothed to a man, and a man hath found her in a city, and lain with her;

24 s ă îi aduceţi împreună la porţile cetăţii şi să-i ucideţi cu pietre pe amândoi: pe fată s-o condamnaţi pentru că nu a strigat în cetate, iar pe bărbat fiindcă a necinstit-o pe soţia semenului său. Să nimiciţi astfel răul din mijlocul vostru.

then ye have brought them both out unto the gate of that city, and stoned them with stones, and they have died: -- the damsel, because that she hath not cried, in a city; and the man, because that he hath humbled his neighbour's wife; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of thy midst.

25 D ar dacă bărbatul acela va întâlni pe câmp o fată logodită şi o va forţa să se culce cu el, atunci doar bărbatul care s-a culcat cu ea să fie ucis.

`And if in a field the man find the damsel who is betrothed, and the man hath laid hold on her, and lain with her, then hath the man who hath lain with her died alone;

26 F etei să nu-i faceţi nimic, pentru că ea nu este vinovată de nici un păcat vrednic de moarte; căci este ca şi cum un om se năpusteşte asupra semenului său şi îi ia viaţa.

and to the damsel thou dost not do anything, the damsel hath no deadly sin; for as a man riseth against his neighbour and hath murdered him -- the life, so this thing;

27 E l a întâlnit-o pe câmp pe fata logodită şi, deşi ea a strigat, nu a fost nimeni care să o salveze.

for in a field he found her, she hath cried -- the damsel who is betrothed -- and she hath no saviour.

28 D acă un bărbat întâlneşte o fată fecioară nelogodită şi o forţează să se culce cu el şi este descoperit,

`When a man findeth a damsel, a virgin who is not betrothed, and hath caught her, and lain with her, and they have been found,

29 b ărbatul care s-a culcat cu ea, să plătească tatălui fetei cincizeci de şecheli de argint. Ea să rămână soţia lui, pentru că a necinstit-o, iar el nu va putea s-o izgonească toată viaţa lui.

then hath the man who is lying with her given to the father of the damsel fifty silverlings, and to him she is for a wife; because that he hath humbled her, he is not able to send her away all his days.

30 N imeni să nu o ia de soţie pe nevasta tatălui său şi nici să nu descopere învelitoarea tatălui său.

`A man doth not take his father's wife, nor uncover his father's skirt.
