1 „ Iar acum, această poruncă este pentru voi, preoţilor!

And now, to you this charge, O priests,

2 D acă nu veţi asculta şi dacă nu vă veţi pune la inimă să daţi slavă Numelui Meu, zice Domnul Oştirilor, voi trimite blestemul asupra voastră şi voi blestema binecuvântările voastre. Deja le-am şi blestemat, pentru că nu v-aţi pus la inimă să Mă cinstiţi!

If ye hearken not, and if ye lay not to heart, To give honour to My name, said Jehovah of Hosts, I have sent against you the curse, And I have cursed your blessings, Yea, I have also cursed it, Because ye are not laying to heart.

3 I ată, îi voi mustra pe urmaşii voştri, vă voi împrăştia bălegarul pe faţă – bălegarul din măruntaiele jertfelor de la sărbătorile voastre – şi veţi fi duşi împreună cu ele!

Lo, I am pushing away before you the seed, And have scattered dung before your faces, Dung of your festivals, And it hath taken you away with it.

4 V eţi şti atunci că Eu v-am trimis această poruncă, pentru ca legământul Meu cu Levi să continue, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

And ye have known that I have sent unto you this charge, For My covenant being with Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

5 L egământul Meu cu el a fost un legământ al vieţii şi al păcii. I l-am dat ca să se teamă de Mine, iar el s-a temut de Mine, a fost îngrozit de Numele Meu!

My covenant hath been with him of life and of peace, And I make them to him a fear, and he doth fear Me, And because of My name he hath been affrighted.

6 L egea adevărului a fost în gura lui şi nici o nedreptate n-a fost găsită pe buzele lui. El a umblat cu Mine în pace şi onestitate şi i-a întors pe mulţi de la fărădelege.

The law of truth hath been in his mouth, And perverseness hath not been found in his lips, In peace and in uprightness he walked with Me, And many he brought back from iniquity.

7 C ăci buzele unui preot trebuie să păzească cunoştinţa şi din gura lui se aşteaptă învăţătură, pentru că el este un sol al Domnului Oştirilor.

For the lips of a priest preserve knowledge, And law they do seek from his mouth, For a messenger of Jehovah of Hosts he.

8 D ar voi v-aţi abătut de la cale, i-aţi făcut pe mulţi să cadă prin învăţătura voastră şi aţi distrus legământul Meu cu Levi, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

And ye, ye have turned from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble in the law, Ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

9 D e aceea şi Eu v-am făcut de dispreţ şi v-am umilit înaintea întregului popor, tot aşa cum şi voi n-aţi păzit căile Mele şi aţi fost părtinitori în ce priveşte Legea!“ Necredincioşia lui Iuda

And I also, I have made you despised and low before all the people, Because ye are not keeping My ways, And are accepting persons in the law.

10 N -avem toţi un singur Tată ? Nu ne-a creat un singur Dumnezeu? Atunci de ce suntem necredincioşi unul faţă de altul, pângărind legământul strămoşilor noştri?

Have we not all one father? Hath not our God prepared us? Wherefore do we deal treacherously, Each against his brother, To pollute the covenant of our fathers?

11 I uda a fost necredincios, iar în Israel şi în Ierusalim s-a săvârşit o urâciune, căci Iuda a pângărit Lăcaşul Domnului, pe care El îl iubeşte, şi s-a căsătorit cu fiica unui dumnezeu străin.

Dealt treacherously hath Judah, And abomination hath been done in Israel, and in Jerusalem, For polluted hath Judah the holy thing of Jehovah, That He hath loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

12 D omnul să-l nimicească din corturile lui Iacov pe cel ce a făcut lucrul acesta – pe cel treaz şi pe cel care răspunde – chiar dacă I-ar aduce un dar Domnului Oştirilor.

Cut off doth Jehovah the man who doth it, Tempter and tempted -- from the tents of Jacob, Even he who is bringing nigh a present to Jehovah of Hosts.

13 I ată un alt lucru pe care-l mai faceţi: acoperiţi altarul Domnului cu lacrimi, cu plânsete şi cu gemete, pentru că El nu mai ţine seama de darurile voastre şi nu le mai primeşte cu plăcere din mâinile voastre.

And this a second time ye do, Covering with tears the altar of Jehovah, With weeping and groaning, Because there is no more turning unto the present, Or receiving of a pleasing thing from your hand.

14 Ş i vă întrebaţi: „De ce?“ Pentru că Domnul a fost martor între tine şi soţia tinereţii tale, faţă de care ai fost necredincios, deşi ea este consoarta ta, soţia ta prin legământ.

And ye have said, `Wherefore?' Because Jehovah hath testified between thee And the wife of thy youth, That thou hast dealt treacherously against her, And she thy companion, and thy covenant-wife.

15 N u i-a făcut El una? În trup şi în duh sunt ai Lui. De ce una? Pentru că El caută o sămânţă dumnezeiască. Deci păziţi-vă în duhul vostru şi nici unul dintre voi să nu fie necredincios soţiei tinereţii sale!

And He did not make one, And He hath the remnant of the Spirit. And what the one! He is seeking a godly seed. And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And with the wife of thy youth, None doth deal treacherously.

16 „ Căci Eu urăsc divorţul, zice Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel. Eu urăsc pe cel ce se acoperă cu violenţă cum se acoperă cu o haină “, zice Domnul Oştirilor. Deci păziţi-vă în duhul vostru şi nu fiţi necredincioşi! Ziua judecăţii este aproape

For hate sending away, said Jehovah, God of Israel, And He hath covered violence with his clothing, said Jehovah of Hosts, And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And ye do not deal treacherously.

17 L -aţi obosit pe Domnul prin cuvintele voastre. Şi totuşi întrebaţi: „Cum L-am obosit?“ L-aţi obosit spunând: „Toţi cei care fac răul sunt buni înaintea Domnului şi în ei Îşi găseşte El plăcerea!“ Sau spunând: „Unde este Dumnezeul dreptăţii?“

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words, And ye have said: `In what have we wearied Him?' In your saying: `Every evil-doer good in the eyes of Jehovah, And in them He is delighting,' Or, `Where the God of judgment?'
