1 P lin de Duhul Sfânt, Isus S-a întors de la Iordan şi a fost dus de Duhul în pustie,

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,

2 f iind ispitit de diavol timp de patruzeci de zile. N-a mâncat nimic în zilele acelea, iar la sfârşitul lor a flămânzit.

forty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,

3 D iavolul I-a zis: – Dacă eşti Fiul lui Dumnezeu, porunceşte acestei pietre să devină pâine!

and the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.'

4 Î nsă Isus i-a răspuns: – Este scris: „Omul nu trăieşte numai cu pâine, (ci cu orice cuvânt de la Dumnezeu!) “

And Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.'

5 A tunci diavolul L-a dus sus, într-un loc înalt, şi I-a arătat într-o clipă toate regatele lumii.

And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,

6 A poi I-a zis: – Ţie Îţi voi da autoritatea tuturor acestora şi gloria lor, căci mie mi-a fost dată, iar eu o dau cui vreau.

and the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;

7 D eci, dacă te închini înaintea mea, toată va fi a Ta!

thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me -- all shall be thine.'

8 I sus i-a răspuns: – Este scris: „Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, să I te închini şi numai Lui să-I slujeşti!“

And Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.'

9 A poi L-a dus la Ierusalim, L-a pus să stea pe streaşina Templului şi I-a zis: – Dacă eşti Fiul lui Dumnezeu, aruncă-Te jos de aici,

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,

10 c ăci este scris: „El va da porunci îngerilor Săi cu privire la Tine, ca să Te păzească!“

for it hath been written -- To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,

11 ş i „Ei Te vor purta pe braţele lor, ca nu cumva să-Ţi loveşti piciorul de vreo piatră!“

and -- On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.'

12 I sus i-a răspuns: – S-a zis: „Să nu-L ispiteşti pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău!“

And Jesus answering said to him -- `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'

13 D upă ce L-a ispitit în toate felurile, diavolul a plecat de la El până la o vreme anume. Începutul lucrării lui Isus în Galileea

And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.

14 I sus S-a întors în Galileea, în puterea Duhului Sfânt. Şi vestea despre El s-a răspândit prin toată regiunea dimprejur.

And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,

15 E l dădea învăţătură în sinagogile lor şi era lăudat de toţi. Necredinţa celor din Nazaret

and he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

16 A venit în Nazaret, unde fusese crescut, şi, după obiceiul Său, a intrat în sinagogă în ziua de Sabat şi S-a ridicat să citească.

And he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;

17 I s-a dat sulul profetului Isaia. Când a desfăşurat sulul, a găsit locul unde era scris:

and there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:

18 „ Duhul Domnului este peste Mine, căci El M-a uns ca să aduc celor sărmani vestea bună. El M-a trimis să vestesc celor captivi eliberarea şi orbilor – căpătarea vederii, să-i eliberez pe cei asupriţi

`The Spirit of the Lord upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,

19 ş i să vestesc anul de îndurare al Domnului!“

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.'

20 A poi a înfăşurat sulul la loc, i l-a dat înapoi slujitorului şi S-a aşezat. Ochii tuturor celor din sinagogă erau aţintiţi asupra Lui.

And having folded the roll, having given back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.

21 E l a început să le vorbească astfel: „Astăzi a fost împlinit acest pasaj din Scriptură în auzul urechilor voastre.“

And he began to say unto them -- `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;'

22 T oţi Îl vorbeau de bine, se mirau de cuvintele pline de har care ieşeau din gura Lui şi se întrebau: „Oare nu este Acesta fiul lui Iosif?“

and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?'

23 E l le-a zis: „Fără îndoială, Îmi veţi spune proverbul acesta: «Doctore, vindecă-te pe tine însuţi! Fă şi aici, în patria Ta, tot ceea ce am auzit că s-a întâmplat în Capernaum!»

And he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;'

24 D ar adevărat vă spun, a mai zis El, că nici un profet nu este acceptat în patria lui!

and he said, `Verily I say to you -- No prophet is accepted in his own country;

25 V ă spun adevărul: în zilele lui Ilie, atunci când a fost încuiat cerul timp de trei ani şi şase luni şi a fost o mare foamete în toată ţara, erau multe văduve în Israel,

and of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,

26 d ar Ilie n-a fost trimis la nici una dintre ele, decât la o văduvă din Sarepta Sidonului.

and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but -- to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;

27 Ş i pe vremea profetului Elisei erau mulţi leproşi în Israel, dar nici unul dintre ei n-a fost curăţit, decât sirianul Naaman.“

and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but -- Naaman the Syrian.'

28 C ând au auzit aceste cuvinte, toţi cei din sinagogă s-au umplut de mânie.

And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,

29 S -au ridicat, L-au scos în afara cetăţii şi L-au dus până pe sprânceana muntelui, pe care era construită cetatea lor, ca să-L arunce jos.

and having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built -- to cast him down headlong,

30 Î nsă El a trecut prin mijlocul lor şi a plecat.

and he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.

31 S -a dus în Capernaum, o cetate din Galileea, şi, în ziua de Sabat, a început să dea învăţătură.

And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,

32 O amenii se mirau de învăţătura Lui, întrucât cuvântul Lui avea autoritate.

and they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.

33 Î n sinagogă era un om care avea un duh de demon necurat. El a strigat cu glas tare:

And in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,

34 – Ha! Ce avem noi de-a face cu Tine, Isuse din Nazaret? Ai venit să ne distrugi? Ştiu Cine eşti: Sfântul lui Dumnezeu!

saying, `Away, what -- to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art -- the Holy One of God.'

35 I sus l-a mustrat zicându-i: – Taci şi ieşi afară din el! Demonul l-a aruncat la pământ în mijlocul lor şi a ieşit din el fără să-i facă vreun rău.

And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;' and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;

36 T oţi au fost cuprinşi de uimire şi se întrebau unii pe alţii: „Ce înseamnă învăţătura aceasta? El porunceşte cu autoritate şi cu putere duhurilor necurate, iar ele ies afară!“

and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?'

37 Ş i I s-a dus vestea în orice loc din regiune.

and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.

38 S -a ridicat şi, după ce a ieşit din sinagogă, S-a dus acasă la Simon. Soacra lui Simon era cuprinsă de febră mare şi ei L-au rugat pentru ea.

And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,

39 E l S-a aplecat asupra ei, a mustrat febra, şi febra a lăsat-o, iar ea s-a ridicat imediat şi a început să le slujească.

and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.

40 D upă apusul soarelui, toţi cei care aveau bolnavi de diferite boli i-au adus la Isus, iar El Şi-a pus mâinile peste fiecare dintre ei şi i-a vindecat.

And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them hands having put, did heal them.

41 D e asemenea, din mulţi ieşeau demoni, care strigau şi ziceau: „Tu eşti Fiul lui Dumnezeu!“ El îi certa şi nu le dădea voie să vorbească, pentru că ei ştiau că El este Cristosul.

And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying -- `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;' and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.

42 C ând se crăpa de ziuă, Isus a ieşit şi S-a dus într-un loc pustiu. Mulţimile au început să-L caute şi au ajuns până la El. Ei încercau să-L oprească, ca să nu plece de la ei,

And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him -- not to go on from them,

43 î nsă El le-a zis: „Trebuie să predic şi în alte cetăţi Evanghelia Împărăţiei lui Dumnezeu, căci pentru aceasta am fost trimis.“

and he said unto them -- `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;'

44 Ş i a continuat să predice în sinagogile din Iudeea.

and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
