1 P oporul meu, ascultă învăţătura mea! Deschideţi-vă urechile la cuvintele gurii mele!

An Instruction of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law, Incline your ear to sayings of my mouth.

2 Î mi voi deschide gura cu pilde, voi rosti lucruri ascunse din vremuri străvechi,

I open with a simile my mouth, I bring forth hidden things of old,

3 l ucruri pe care le-am auzit, lucrurile pe care le-am învăţat, pe care ni le-au povestit strămoşii noştri.

That we have heard and do know, And our fathers have recounted to us.

4 N u le vom ascunde de fiii noştri, ci vom spune generaţiei următoare isprăvile demne de laudă ale Domnului, puterea şi minunile Lui pe care le-a săvârşit.

We do not hide from their sons, To a later generation recounting praises of Jehovah, And His strength, and His wonders that He hath done.

5 E l a ridicat o mărturie în Iacov, a pus o Lege în Israel şi a poruncit strămoşilor noştri să-şi înveţe fiii din ea,

And He raiseth up a testimony in Jacob, And a law hath placed in Israel, That He commanded our fathers, To make them known to their sons.

6 p entru ca generaţia următoare, fiii care se vor naşte, să o cunoască, şi ei, la rândul lor, să o povestească fiilor lor;

So that a later generation doth know, Sons who are born, do rise and recount to their sons,

7 s ă-şi pună încrederea în Dumnezeu, să nu uite lucrările lui Dumnezeu, ci să-I împlinească poruncile;

And place in God their confidence, And forget not the doings of God, But keep His commands.

8 s ă nu fie ca strămoşii lor, o generaţie neascultătoare şi răzvrătită, o generaţie care nu şi-a pregătit inima şi al cărei duh nu a fost credincios lui Dumnezeu.

And they are not like their fathers, A generation apostate and rebellious, A generation! it hath not prepared its heart, Nor stedfast with God its spirit.

9 F iii lui Efraim, înarmaţi, trăgători cu arcul, au dat înapoi în ziua bătăliei:

Sons of Ephraim -- armed bearers of bow, Have turned in a day of conflict.

10 n u păziseră legământul lui Dumnezeu, refuzând să umble în Legea Lui;

They have not kept the covenant of God, And in His law they have refused to walk,

11 I -au uitat faptele şi minunile pe care El le arătase,

And they forget His doings, And His wonders that He shewed them.

12 m inunile pe care le înfăptuise înaintea strămoşilor lor în regiunea Ţoan din ţara Egiptului.

Before their fathers He hath done wonders, In the land of Egypt -- the field of Zoan.

13 A despărţit marea şi i-a trecut prin ea, punând apele să stea ca un zid.

He cleft a sea, and causeth them to pass over, Yea, He causeth waters to stand as a heap.

14 I -a călăuzit printr-un nor ziua, şi toată noaptea – prin lumina focului.

And leadeth them with a cloud by day, And all the night with a light of fire.

15 A despicat stânci în pustie, ca să le dea să bea ape, cât adâncul de multe.

He cleaveth rocks in a wilderness, And giveth drink -- as the great deep.

16 A făcut ca din stânci să izvorască torente şi să curgă apa râuri-râuri.

And bringeth out streams from a rock, And causeth waters to come down as rivers.

17 D ar ei şi-au înmulţit păcatele faţă de El, răzvrătindu-se împotriva Celui Preaînalt în pustie.

And they add still to sin against Him, To provoke the Most High in the dry place.

18 L -au ispitit pe Dumnezeu în inimile lor, cerând mâncare după poftele lor.

And they try God in their heart, To ask food for their lust.

19 A u vorbit împotriva lui Dumnezeu, zicând: „Oare va putea Dumnezeu să ne întindă masa în pustie?

And they speak against God -- they said: `Is God able to array a table in a wilderness?'

20 D esigur, El a lovit stânca din care a ţâşnit apa şi s-au revărsat ueduri, însă va putea El oare să ne dea şi pâine, va putea El să dea carne poporului Său?“

Lo, He hath smitten a rock, And waters flow, yea, streams overflow. `Also -- bread He able to give? Doth He prepare flesh for His people?'

21 A uzind aceasta, Domnul a străbătut tabăra. S-a aprins un foc împotriva lui Iacov şi a izbucnit mânia Sa împotriva lui Israel.

Therefore hath Jehovah heard, And He sheweth Himself wroth, And fire hath been kindled against Jacob, And anger also hath gone up against Israel,

22 A ceasta pentru că nu s-au încrezut în Dumnezeu şi pentru că nu şi-au pus încrederea în mântuirea Lui.

For they have not believed in God, Nor have they trusted in His salvation.

23 T otuşi El a dat porunci norilor de sus şi a deschis porţile cerului.

And He commandeth clouds from above, Yea, doors of the heavens He hath opened.

24 A făcut să plouă asupra lor cu mană ca să aibă de mâncare şi le-a dat grâu ceresc.

And He raineth on them manna to eat, Yea, corn of heaven He hath given to them.

25 A u mâncat cu toţii pâinea celor puternici şi le-a trimis hrană pe săturate.

Food of the mighty hath each eaten, Venison He sent to them to satiety.

26 A stârnit în ceruri vântul de răsărit şi a condus cu puterea Lui vântul din sud.

He causeth an east wind to journey in the heavens, And leadeth by His strength a south wind,

27 A plouat peste ei cu carne ca pulberea de multă şi cu înaripate multe cât nisipul mării.

And He raineth on them flesh as dust, And as sand of the seas -- winged fowl,

28 L e-a făcut să cadă în mijlocul taberei, împrejurul locuinţelor lor.

And causeth to fall in the midst of His camp, Round about His tabernacles.

29 A u mâncat şi s-au îmbuibat, căci El le dăduse după poftele lor.

And they eat, and are greatly satisfied, And their desire He bringeth to them.

30 D ar înainte ca ei să-şi astâmpere pofta, chiar în timp ce aveau mâncarea în gură,

They have not been estranged from their desire, Yet their food in their mouth,

31 m ânia lui Dumnezeu a şi izbucnit împotriva lor, omorând pe cei mai viguroşi dintre ei şi doborând pe tinerii lui Israel.

And the anger of God hath gone up against them, And He slayeth among their fat ones, And youths of Israel He caused to bend.

32 C u toate acestea, ei au continuat să păcătuiască şi, în pofida minunilor Lui, ei tot nu au crezut.

With all this they have sinned again, And have not believed in His wonders.

33 D e aceea le-a pus El capăt zilelor în deşertăciune şi anilor lor în teroare.

And He consumeth in vanity their days, And their years in trouble.

34 C ând îi pedepsea cu moartea, ei Îl căutau, se întorceau şi-L căutau pe Dumnezeu cu râvnă;

If He slew them, then they sought Him, And turned back, and sought God earnestly,

35 î şi aminteau din nou că Dumnezeu fusese stânca lor, că Dumnezeul Preaînalt fusese răscumpărătorul lor.

And they remember that God their rock, And God Most High their redeemer.

36 D ar Îl înşelau cu gurile lor şi cu limba lor Îl minţeau.

And -- they deceive Him with their mouth, And with their tongue do lie to Him,

37 I nima lor nu era în întregime a Lui şi nu se încredeau în legământul Lui.

And their heart hath not been right with Him, And they have not been stedfast in His covenant.

38 T otuşi El a fost milos; le-a iertat nelegiuirea şi nu i-a nimicit. De multe ori Şi-a retras mânia şi nu Şi-a aprins întreaga Lui furie.

And He -- the Merciful One, Pardoneth iniquity, and destroyeth not, And hath often turned back His anger, And waketh not up all His fury.

39 Ş i-a adus aminte că sunt doar carne, doar o suflare care trece fără să se mai întoarcă.

And He remembereth that they flesh, A wind going on -- and it returneth not.

40 D e câte ori s-au răzvrătit împotriva Lui în deşert şi L-au întristat în pustie!

How often do they provoke Him in the wilderness, Grieve Him in the desolate place?

41 S -au abătut din nou şi L-au ispitit pe Dumnezeu, îndurerând astfel pe Sfântul lui Israel.

Yea, they turn back, and try God, And the Holy One of Israel have limited.

42 N u şi-au amintit de mâna Lui – de ziua când i-a izbăvit de duşman,

They have not remembered His hand The day He ransomed them from the adversary.

43 c ând Şi-a înfăptuit semnele în Egipt şi minunile Sale în regiunea Ţoan:

When He set His signs in Egypt, And His wonders in the field of Zoan,

44 c um le-a prefăcut râurile în sânge şi apa din pâraie cu neputinţă de băut;

And He turneth to blood their streams, And their floods they drink not.

45 c um a trimis împotriva lor roiuri de muşte care i-a mâncat şi broaşte care i-au prăpădit;

He sendeth among them the beetle, and it consumeth them, And the frog, and it destroyeth them,

46 c um le-a dat roadele pradă omizii şi munca lor pradă lăcustei;

And giveth to the caterpillar their increase, And their labour to the locust.

47 c um le-a ruinat viile cu grindină şi sicomorii cu lapoviţă;

He destroyeth with hail their vine, And their sycamores with frost,

48 c um le-a dat vitele pradă grindinei şi cirezile pradă fulgerului;

And delivereth up to the hail their beasts, And their cattle to the burning flames.

49 c um Şi-a trimis împotriva lor mânia Lui aprinsă, furia, indignarea şi necazul, îngeri aducători de nenorociri;

He sendeth on them the fury of His anger, Wrath, and indignation, and distress -- A discharge of evil messengers.

50 c um Şi-a dat frâu liber mâniei, fără să le scape sufletul de la moarte, dându-le viaţa pe mâna molimei;

He pondereth a path for His anger, He kept not back their soul from death, Yea, their life to the pestilence He delivered up.

51 c um i-a ucis pe toţi întâii născuţi ai Egiptului, pârga puterii din corturile lui Ham;

And He smiteth every first-born in Egypt, The first-fruit of the strong in tents of Ham.

52 c um Şi-a condus poporul ca pe o turmă, i-a călăuzit prin pustie ca pe o turmă de oi;

And causeth His people to journey as a flock, And guideth them as a drove in a wilderness,

53 c um i-a condus spre locuri sigure, fără ca ei să se teamă, în timp ce pe duşmanii lor i-a acoperit marea;

And He leadeth them confidently, And they have not been afraid, And their enemies hath the sea covered.

54 c um i-a adus la hotarul ţării Lui sfinte, la muntele pe care l-a câştigat dreapta Sa;

And He bringeth them in unto the border of His sanctuary, This mountain His right hand had got,

55 c um a izgonit dinaintea lor neamuri, cum le-a dat teritoriul în moştenire şi a pus seminţiile lui Israel să le locuiască corturile.

And casteth out nations from before them, And causeth them to fall in the line of inheritance, And causeth the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents,

56 D ar ei L-au ispitit pe Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt şi s-au răzvrătit împotriva Lui; nu au păzit mărturiile Lui.

And they tempt and provoke God Most High, And His testimonies have not kept.

57 S -au depărtat şi au fost necredincioşi asemenea părinţilor lor; s-au schimbat devenind ca un arc defectuos.

And they turn back, And deal treacherously like their fathers, They have been turned like a deceitful bow,

58 L -au întărâtat la mânie prin înălţimile lor, prin idolii lor I-au stârnit gelozia.

And make Him angry with their high places, And with their graven images make Him zealous,

59 D umnezeu a auzit, a trecut prin tabără şi l-a respins în întregime pe Israel.

God hath heard, and sheweth Himself wroth. And kicketh exceedingly against Israel.

60 A poi Şi-a părăsit Locuinţa din Şilo, Cortul în care locuia printre oameni.

And He leaveth the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men,

61 Ş i-a lăsat tăria în captivitate şi slava – în mâna duşmanului.

And He giveth His strength to captivity, And His beauty into the hand of an adversary,

62 Ş i-a dat poporul pradă sabiei; Şi-a dezlănţuit mânia asupra moştenirii Lui.

And delivereth up to the sword His people, And with His inheritance shewed Himself angry.

63 T inerii Lui au fost mistuiţi de foc, iar fecioarele Lui nu au mai fost lăudate.

His young men hath fire consumed, And His virgins have not been praised.

64 P reoţii Lui au căzut răpuşi de sabie, iar văduvele Lui nu s-au mai bocit.

His priests by the sword have fallen, And their widows weep not.

65 A tunci Stăpânul S-a trezit ca unul care dormise, ca viteazul înveselit de vin.

And the Lord waketh as a sleeper, As a mighty one crying aloud from wine.

66 Ş i-a înlăturat duşmanii; i-a făcut de batjocură pentru totdeauna.

And He smiteth His adversaries backward, A reproach age-during He hath put on them,

67 T otuşi El a lepădat cortul lui Iosif şi nu a ales seminţia lui Efraim.

And He kicketh against the tent of Joseph, And on the tribe of Ephraim hath not fixed.

68 A ales însă seminţia lui Iuda şi muntele Sion, pe care-l iubeşte.

And He chooseth the tribe of Judah, With mount Zion that He loved,

69 Ş i-a zidit Sfântul Lăcaş precum înălţimile şi precum pământul pe care l-a întărit pe vecie.

And buildeth His sanctuary as a high place, Like the earth, He founded it to the age.

70 L -a ales pe David, robul Lui, l-a luat de la staulele oilor,

And He fixeth on David His servant, And taketh him from the folds of a flock,

71 l -a adus dinapoia mieilor ca să păstorească pe poporul Său, Iacov, şi pe Israel, moştenirea Sa.

From behind suckling ones He hath brought him in, To rule over Jacob His people, And over Israel His inheritance.

72 I ar el i-a păstorit în curăţie de inimă şi i-a condus cu mâini pricepute.

And he ruleth them according to the integrity of his heart, And by the skilfulness of his hands leadeth them!
