1 D aţi mulţumire Domnului, căci este bun, căci veşnică-I este îndurarea!

`Give ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age His kindness:'

2 A şa să zică răscumpăraţii Domnului, cei pe care i-a răscumpărat din mâna duşmanului,

Let the redeemed of Jehovah say, Whom He redeemed from the hand of an adversary.

3 p e care i-a adunat de pe cuprinsul ţărilor: de la răsărit şi de la apus, de la nord şi de la sud.

And from the lands hath gathered them, From east and from west, From north, and from the sea.

4 E i rătăceau prin pustie, pe o cale neumblată, fără să găsească o cetate în care să locuiască.

They wandered in a wilderness, in a desert by the way, A city of habitation they have not found.

5 F lămânzi şi însetaţi, li se lihnise sufletul în ei.

Hungry -- yea -- thirsty, Their soul in them becometh feeble,

6 A tunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distress He delivereth them,

7 I -a călăuzit pe o cale dreaptă, ca să meargă spre o cetate în care să locuiască.

And causeth them to tread in a right way, To go unto a city of habitation.

8 S ă-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.

9 C ăci El a potolit sufletul însetat şi a săturat sufletul flămând.

For He hath satisfied a longing soul, And a hungry soul hath filled goodness.

10 C elor ce locuiau în întuneric şi în umbra morţii, legaţi în chin şi în fiare,

Inhabitants of dark places and death-shade, Prisoners of affliction and of iron,

11 p entru că se răzvrătiseră faţă de mesajele lui Dumnezeu şi dispreţuiseră sfatul Celui Preaînalt,

Because they changed the saying of God, And the counsel of the Most High despised.

12 E l le-a smerit inima prin necaz; ei se clătinaseră şi nu era nimeni să-i ajute.

And He humbleth with labour their heart, They have been feeble, and there is no helper.

13 A tunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them.

14 I -a scos din întuneric şi din umbra morţii şi le-a rupt legăturile.

He bringeth them out from the dark place, And death-shade, And their bands He draweth away.

15 S ă-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.

16 C ăci El a zdrobit porţi de bronz şi a tăiat zăvoare de fier.

For He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.

17 E i ajunseseră nebuni din cauza căii lor nelegiuite şi se nenorociseră din cauza păcatelor lor.

Fools, by means of their transgression, And by their iniquities, afflict themselves.

18 S ufletul lor se dezgustase de orice hrană şi ajunseseră la porţile morţii.

All food doth their soul abominate, And they come nigh unto the gates of death,

19 A tunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a eliberat din necazurile lor.

And cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them,

20 L e-a trimis Cuvântul Lui, i-a tămăduit şi i-a scăpat din groapă.

He sendeth His word and healeth them, And delivereth from their destructions.

21 S ă-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,

22 S ă aducă jertfe de mulţumire şi să povestească lucrările Lui cu strigăte de bucurie!

And they sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, And recount His works with singing.

23 C ei ce coborau pe mare cu corăbiile, cei ce făceau negoţ pe ape mari,

Those going down the sea in ships, Doing business in many waters,

24 a u văzut ei înşişi lucrările Domnului şi minunile Lui din adâncuri.

They have seen the works of Jehovah, And His wonders in the deep.

25 C ând a grăit El, s-a iscat o furtună năprasnică, care a ridicat talazurile mării.

And He saith, and appointeth a tempest, And it lifteth up its billows,

26 S e suiau spre ceruri şi se coborau în adâncuri; sufletul li se înmuiase din cauza nenorocirii.

They go up the heavens, they go down the depths, Their soul in evil is melted.

27 S e clătinau şi se mişcau ca un om beat; toată înţelepciunea lor fusese înghiţită.

They reel to and fro, and move as a drunkard, And all their wisdom is swallowed up.

28 A tunci, în strâmtorarea lor, ei au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

And they cry to Jehovah in their adversity, And from their distresses He bringeth them out.

29 A liniştit furtuna, iar valurile s-au potolit.

He establisheth a whirlwind to a calm, And hushed are their billows.

30 E i s-au bucurat că acestea s-au liniştit, iar El i-a condus la limanul dorit.

And they rejoice because they are quiet, And He leadeth them to the haven of their desire.

31 S ă-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,

32 S ă-L înalţe în adunarea poporului şi să-L înalţe în sfatul bătrânilor!

And they exalt Him in the assembly of the people, And in the seat of the elders praise Him.

33 E l preface râurile în pustiu şi izvoarele de ape în pământ uscat

He maketh rivers become a wilderness, And fountains of waters become dry land.

34 ş i pământul roditor în pământ sterp, din pricina răutăţii locuitorilor ţării.

A fruitful land becometh a barren place, For the wickedness of its inhabitants.

35 E l preface pustia într-o vale cu apă şi ţinutul arid în izvoare de ape.

He maketh a wilderness become a pool of water, And a dry land become fountains of waters.

36 A şază acolo pe cei flămânzi, iar ei îşi întemeiază o cetate în care să locuiască,

And He causeth the hungry to dwell there, And they prepare a city of habitation.

37 î şi seamănă ogoare, îşi plantează vii şi au recolte bogate.

And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, And they make fruits of increase.

38 E l îi binecuvântează, astfel încât se înmulţesc foarte mult, iar vitele nu li le împuţinează.

And He blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, And their cattle He doth not diminish.

39 C ând sunt împuţinaţi şi umiliţi din pricina asupririi, a necazului şi a suferinţei,

And they are diminished, and bow down, By restraint, evil, and sorrow.

40 E l revarsă dispreţ asupra nobililor şi-i face să rătăcească prin pustietate fără drum.

He is pouring contempt upon nobles, And causeth them to wander in vacancy -- no way.

41 Î i ridică însă pe cei nevoiaşi din sărăcie şi le înmulţeşte familiile ca pe o turmă.

And setteth on high the needy from affliction, And placeth families as a flock.

42 C ei drepţi văd şi se bucură şi orice nedreptate îşi închide gura.

The upright do see and rejoice, And all perversity hath shut her mouth.

43 C ine este înţelept, să păzească aceste lucruri şi să ia aminte la marea îndurare a Domnului!

Who wise, and observeth these? They understand the kind acts of Jehovah!
