2 O mului i se par drepte toate căile lui, dar Cel Ce cântăreşte inimile este Domnul.

3 A face dreptate şi judecată este mai plăcut Domnului decât o jertfă.

To do righteousness and judgment, Is chosen of Jehovah rather than sacrifice.

4 P rivirea trufaşă şi inima îngâmfată, candela celor răi, acestea sunt păcate.

Loftiness of eyes, and breadth of heart, Tillage of the wicked sin.

5 P lanurile celui harnic duc la belşug, dar cel pripit ajunge sărac.

The purposes of the diligent only to advantage, And of every hasty one, only to want.

6 A verea câştigată cu o limbă mincinoasă este un abur trecător, o cursă a morţii.

The making of treasures by a lying tongue, a vanity driven away of those seeking death.

7 V iolenţa celor răi îi spulberă pentru că refuză să facă ce este drept.

The spoil of the wicked catcheth them, Because they have refused to do judgment.

8 C alea bărbatului vinovat este întortocheată, dar purtarea celui nevinovat este dreaptă.

Froward the way of a man who is vile, And the pure -- upright his work.

9 M ai bine să locuieşti într-un colţ pe acoperiş, decât să împarţi casa cu o soţie cicălitoare!

Better to sit on a corner of the roof, Than a woman of contentions and a house of company.

10 S ufletul celui rău doreşte răul; semenul lui n-are nici o trecere înaintea lui.

The soul of the wicked hath desired evil, Not gracious in his eyes is his neighbour.

11 C ând este pedepsit un batjocoritor, nesăbuitul devine înţelept; când se dă învăţătură celui înţelept, el primeşte cunoştinţă.

When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise, And in giving understanding to the wise He receiveth knowledge.

12 C el Drept priveşte la casa celui rău şi-l duce pe acesta spre ruină.

The Righteous One is acting wisely Towards the house of the wicked, He is overthrowing the wicked for wickedness.

13 A celuia ce-şi astupă urechea la strigătul săracului, nu i se va răspunde nici lui când va striga.

Whoso is shutting his ear from the cry of the poor, He also doth cry, and is not answered.

14 U n dar oferit în secret potoleşte mânia şi o mită dată pe ascuns linişteşte cea mai aprigă mânie.

A gift in secret pacifieth anger, And a bribe in the bosom strong fury.

15 E ste o bucurie pentru cel drept să facă ce este corect, dar pentru cei ce săvârşesc nedreptatea este o groază.

To do justice joy to the righteous, But ruin to workers of iniquity.

16 O mul care se îndepărtează de cărarea chibzuinţei se va odihni în adunarea celor morţi.

A man who is wandering from the way of understanding, In an assembly of Rephaim resteth.

17 C ine iubeşte distracţia va ajunge sărac şi cine iubeşte vinul şi untdelemnul nu se va îmbogăţi.

Whoso loving mirth a poor man, Whoso is loving wine and oil maketh no wealth.

18 C el rău devine preţ de răscumpărare pentru cel drept şi cel necredincios pentru cel integru.

The wicked an atonement for the righteous, And for the upright the treacherous dealer.

19 M ai bine să locuieşti singur în pustie, decât cu o soţie cicălitoare şi supărăcioasă.

Better to dwell in a wilderness land, Than a woman of contentions and anger.

20 C omori de preţ şi untdelemn sunt în casa celui înţelept, dar cel prost risipeşte tot ce are.

A treasure to be desired, and oil, in the habitation of the wise, And a foolish man swalloweth it up.

21 C ine urmăreşte dreptatea şi bunătatea găseşte viaţă, bunăstare şi onoare.

Whoso is pursuing righteousness and kindness, Findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 Î nţeleptul cucereşte cetatea celor viteji şi doboară fortăreaţa în care aceştia se încred.

A city of the mighty hath the wise gone up, And bringeth down the strength of its confidence.

23 C ine îşi păzeşte gura şi limba se protejează pe sine însuşi de necazuri.

Whoso is keeping his mouth and his tongue, Is keeping from adversities his soul.

24 „ Batjocoritor“ este numele celui mândru şi arogant, al celui ce se comportă cu o mândrie plină de obrăznicie.

Proud, haughty, scorner his name, Who is working in the wrath of pride.

25 P ofta leneşului îl omoară pentru că mâinile lui refuză să lucreze.

The desire of the slothful slayeth him, For his hands have refused to work.

26 T oată ziua pofteşte mai mult, dar cel drept dă fără reţinere.

All the day desiring he hath desired, And the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.

27 J ertfa celor răi este o urâciune, cu cât mai mult când aceştia o aduc cu intenţie rea!

The sacrifice of the wicked abomination, Much more when in wickedness he bringeth it.

28 M artorul fals va pieri dar cel care ascultă va avea ultimul cuvânt.

A false witness doth perish, And an attentive man for ever speaketh.

29 C el rău ia o înfăţişare obraznică, dar cel integru îşi gândeşte bine calea.

A wicked man hath hardened by his face, And the upright -- he prepareth his way.

30 N u există nici înţelepciune, nici pricepere şi nici vreun plan care să reuşească împotriva Domnului.

There is no wisdom, nor understanding, Nor counsel, over-against Jehovah.

31 C alul este pregătit pentru ziua luptei, dar biruinţa este a Domnului.

A horse is prepared for a day of battle, And the deliverance of Jehovah!
