1 V edeţi ce dragoste mare ne-a dăruit Tatăl: să fim numiţi copii ai lui Dumnezeu. Şi suntem! De aceea nu ne cunoaşte lumea: pentru că nu L-a cunoscut nici pe El.

See ye what love the Father hath given to us, that children of God we may be called; because of this the world doth not know us, because it did not know Him;

2 P reaiubiţilor, acum suntem copii ai lui Dumnezeu. Şi ce vom fi, n-a fost arătat încă, dar ştim că, atunci când Se va arăta El, vom fi asemenea Lui, pentru că-L vom vedea aşa cum este.

beloved, now, children of God are we, and it was not yet manifested what we shall be, and we have known that if he may be manifested, like him we shall be, because we shall see him as he is;

3 O ricine are nădejdea aceasta în El se curăţeşte, aşa cum şi El este curat.

and every one who is having this hope on him, doth purify himself, even as he is pure.

4 O ricine comite păcatul, comite şi fărădelegea; iar păcatul este fărădelege.

Every one who is doing the sin, the lawlessness also he doth do, and the sin is the lawlessness,

5 Ş tiţi că El a fost arătat ca să îndepărteze păcatele; şi în El nu este păcat.

and ye have known that he was manifested that our sins he may take away, and sin is not in him;

6 O ricine rămâne în El nu păcătuieşte; oricine păcătuieşte, nu L-a văzut, nici nu L-a cunoscut.

every one who is remaining in him doth not sin; every one who is sinning, hath not seen him, nor known him.

7 C opilaşilor, nimeni să nu vă înşele! Cel ce înfăptuieşte dreptatea este drept, aşa cum El este drept.

Little children, let no one lead you astray; he who is doing the righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous,

8 C el ce trăieşte în păcat este de la diavolul, pentru că diavolul păcătuieşte de la început. Tocmai pentru aceasta a fost arătat Fiul lui Dumnezeu: ca să distrugă lucrările diavolului.

he who is doing the sin, of the devil he is, because from the beginning the devil doth sin; for this was the Son of God manifested, that he may break up the works of the devil;

9 O ricine este născut din Dumnezeu nu mai trăieşte în păcat, pentru că sămânţa lui Dumnezeu rămâne în el; şi el nu poate continua să păcătuiască, fiindcă a fost născut din Dumnezeu.

every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because his seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been begotten.

10 P rin aceasta sunt scoşi la iveală copiii lui Dumnezeu şi copiii diavolului: oricine nu înfăptuieşte dreptatea nu este de la Dumnezeu, şi nici cel ce nu-l iubeşte pe fratele său. Să ne iubim unii pe alţii

In this manifest are the children of God, and the children of the devil; every one who is not doing righteousness, is not of God, and he who is not loving his brother,

11 A cesta este mesajul pe care l-aţi auzit de la început: să ne iubim unii pe alţii,

because this is the message that ye did hear from the beginning, that we may love one another,

12 n u ca şi Cain, care era de la cel rău şi care l-a ucis pe fratele lui. Şi de ce l-a omorât? Pentru că faptele lui erau rele, iar ale fratelui său erau drepte.

not as Cain -- of the evil one he was, and he did slay his brother, and wherefore did he slay him? because his works were evil, and those of his brother righteous.

13 N u vă miraţi, fraţilor, dacă lumea vă urăşte.

Do not wonder, my brethren, if the world doth hate you;

14 N oi ştim că am trecut de la moarte la viaţă pentru că îi iubim pe fraţi; cine nu iubeşte rămâne în moarte.

we -- we have known that we have passed out of the death to the life, because we love the brethren; he who is not loving the brother doth remain in the death.

15 O ricine îşi urăşte fratele este un ucigaş; şi ştiţi că nici un ucigaş nu are viaţa veşnică rămânând în el.

Every one who is hating his brother -- a man-killer he is, and ye have known that no man-killer hath life age-during in him remaining,

16 P rin aceasta am cunoscut dragostea: că El Şi-a dat viaţa pentru noi. Şi noi deci suntem datori să ne dăm viaţa pentru fraţi.

in this we have known the love, because he for us his life did lay down, and we ought for the brethren the lives to lay down;

17 D acă însă cineva are bunurile acestei lumi şi-l vede pe fratele său în nevoi, dar îşi închide inima faţă de el, atunci cum rămâne în el dragostea lui Dumnezeu?!

and whoever may have the goods of the world, and may view his brother having need, and may shut up his bowels from him -- how doth the love of God remain in him?

18 C opilaşilor, să nu iubim cu vorba, nici cu limba, ci prin faptă şi adevăr!

My little children, may we not love in word nor in tongue, but in word and in truth!

19 P rin aceasta vom cunoaşte că suntem din adevăr şi ne vom încredinţa inimile în prezenţa Lui,

and in this we know that of the truth we are, and before Him we shall assure our hearts,

20 o ricând ne-ar condamna inimile noastre. Căci Dumnezeu este mai mare decât inimile noastre şi cunoaşte totul.

because if our heart may condemn -- because greater is God than our heart, and He doth know all things.

21 P reaiubiţilor, dacă nu ne condamnă inimile noastre, avem îndrăzneală înaintea lui Dumnezeu,

Beloved, if our heart may not condemn us, we have boldness toward God,

22 i ar dacă cerem ceva, primim de la El, pentru că păzim poruncile Lui şi facem ce este plăcut înaintea Lui.

and whatever we may ask, we receive from Him, because His commands we keep, and the things pleasing before Him we do,

23 I ar porunca Lui este aceasta: să credem în Numele Fiului Său, Isus Cristos, şi să ne iubim unii pe alţii aşa cum ne-a poruncit.

and this is His command, that we may believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and may love one another, even as He did give command to us,

24 C el ce păzeşte poruncile Lui rămâne în El, iar El în acesta. Prin aceasta cunoaştem că El rămâne în noi: prin Duhul pe Care ni L-a dat.

and he who is keeping His commands, in Him he doth remain, and He in him; and in this we know that He doth remain in us, from the Spirit that He gave us.
