1 Î n anul al nouălea, în ziua a zecea a lunii a zecea, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, saying,

2 „ Fiul omului, scrie data zilei de azi, chiar a acestei zile, deoarece chiar în această zi împăratul Babilonului s-a năpustit asupra Ierusalimului.

`Son of man, write for thee the name of the day -- this self-same day leaned hath the king of Babylon toward Jerusalem in this self-same day --

3 R osteşte o pildă cu privire la această Casă răzvrătită şi spune-i că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Pune cazanul, pune-l şi toarnă apă în el!

and use unto the rebellious house a simile, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To set on the pot, to set on, and also to pour into it water,

4 P une în el bucăţi de carne, cele mai bune bucăţi: piciorul şi pulpa. Umple-l cu cele mai bune oase!

To gather its pieces unto it, every good piece, Thigh and shoulder, the choice of the bones to fill in.

5 S ă fie luat ce-i mai bun din turmă. Îngrămădeşte apoi lemne sub el şi fă-l să fiarbă în clocot, ca să fiarbă oasele din el!»

The choice of the flock to take, And also to pile of the bones under it, Boil it thoroughly, yea, cook its bones in its midst.

6 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Vai de cetatea vărsătoare de sânge, cazanul cel plin de rugină de pe care nu se duce rugina. Scoate pe rând din ea bucăţile de carne, fără să tragi la sorţi,

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Wo the city of blood, A pot whose scum in it, And its scum hath not come out of it, By piece of it, by piece of it bring it out, Not fallen on it hath a lot.

7 c ăci sângele pe care l-a vărsat ea este în mijlocul ei; l-a pus pe suprafaţa stâncii; nu l-a vărsat pe pământ ca să-l acopere apoi cu ţărână.

For her blood in her midst hath been, On a clear place of a rock she hath set it, She hath not poured it on the earth, To cover it over with dust.

8 C a să-Mi arăt furia, ca să mă răzbun, i-am vărsat sângele pe suprafaţa stâncii, pentru ca astfel el să nu fie acoperit.»

To cause fury to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on a clear place of a rock -- not to be covered.

9 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Vai de cetatea cea vărsătoare de sânge! Drept urmare şi Eu îi voi mări rugul.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Wo the city of blood, yea, I -- I make great the pile.

10 Î ngrămădeşte multe lemne, aprinde focul, fierbe bine carnea, amestecă în zeamă şi lasă până vor arde şi oasele!

Make abundant the wood, Kindle the fire, consume the flesh, And make the compound, And let the bones be burnt.

11 A poi aşază cazanul gol pe jăratic, ca să se încălzească, să i se încingă arama şi astfel să se topească murdăria de pe el şi să i se şteargă rugina.

And cause it to stand on its coals empty, So that its brass is hot and burning, Melted hath been in its midst its uncleanness, Consumed is its scum.

12 M -am trudit în van, căci rugina lui cea multă tot nu a ieşit de pe el, nici măcar prin foc.

sorrows she hath wearied herself, And the abundance of her scum goeth not out of her, In the fire her scum.

13 N ecurăţia ta este infidelitatea. Pentru că Eu am vrut să te curăţ de necurăţia ta, dar tu nu te-ai curăţit, nu vei mai fi curăţită până când nu Îmi voi potoli furia faţă de tine.

In thine uncleanness wickedness, Because I have cleansed thee, And thou hast not been cleansed, From thine uncleanness thou art not cleansed again, Till I have caused My fury to rest on thee.

14 E u, Domnul, am vorbit! A venit vremea şi voi face întocmai! Nu te voi cruţa, nu voi avea milă şi nu-Mi va părea rău! Vei fi judecată după umbletele tale şi după faptele tale, zice Stăpânul Domn.»“ Moartea soţiei lui Ezechiel

I, Jehovah, hath spoken, It hath come, and I have done, I do not free, nor do I spare, nor do I repent, According to thy ways, and according to thine acts, they have judged thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

15 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

16 „ Fiul omului, iată că îţi voi lua printr-o lovitură ceea ce este mai de preţ în ochii tăi. Tu însă să nu jeleşti, să nu plângi şi să nu-ţi dea lacrimile!

`Son of man, lo, I am taking from thee the desire of thine eyes by a stroke, and thou dost not mourn, nor weep, nor let thy tear come.

17 S uspină în tăcere, dar nu te tângui ca pentru cei morţi! Leagă-ţi turbanul şi pune-ţi sandalele în picioare; să nu-ţi acoperi barba şi să nu mănânci pâinea pe care ţi-o vor aduce oamenii.“

Cease to groan, the dead thou dost make no mourning, thy bonnet bind on thee, and thy shoes thou dost put on thy feet, and thou dost not cover over the upper lip, and bread of men thou dost not eat.'

18 A m vorbit poporului dimineaţa, iar seara mi-a murit soţia. A doua zi, dimineaţa, am făcut cum mi s-a poruncit.

And I speak unto the people in the morning, and my wife dieth in the evening, and I do in the morning as I have been commanded.

19 C ei din popor m-au întrebat: – Nu vrei să ne lămureşti ce înseamnă ceea ce faci?

And the people say unto me, `Dost thou not declare to us what these to us, that thou art doing?'

20 E u le-am răspuns: – Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And I say unto them, `A word of Jehovah hath been unto me, saying:

21 „ Spune-i Casei lui Israel că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, voi lăsa să fie pângărit Lăcaşul Meu, fala puterii voastre, ceea ce este mai de preţ în ochii voştri şi de ceea ce vă este sufletul ataşat mai mult, iar fiii voştri şi fiicele voastre, pe care îi veţi fi lăsat în urmă, vor fi răpuşi de sabie.

Say to the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom ye have left, by sword they do fall.

22 A tunci veţi face şi voi cum am făcut eu. Nu vă veţi acoperi barba şi nu veţi mânca pâine de jale;

And ye have done as I have done, On the upper lip ye are not covered, And bread of men ye do not eat.

23 v eţi purta turban pe cap şi sandale în picioare, nu veţi jeli şi nici nu veţi plânge, ci vă veţi măcina sufleteşte din cauza nelegiuirilor voastre şi vă veţi văita între voi.

And your bonnets on your heads, And your shoes on your feet, Ye do not mourn nor do ye weep, And ye have wasted away for your iniquities, And ye have howled one unto another.

24 E zechiel va fi pentru voi un semn. Tot ceea ce a făcut el, veţi face şi voi. Când se vor întâmpla acestea, veţi şti că Eu sunt Stăpânul Domn. »

And Ezekiel hath been to you for a type, According to all that he hath done ye do; In its coming in -- ye have known that I the Lord Jehovah.

25 T u însă, fiul omului, în ziua când le voi lua tăria, bucuria şi gloria, ce este mai de preţ în ochii lor şi ceea ce le înalţă sufletul mai mult şi, de asemenea, pe fiii lor şi pe fiicele lor,

And thou, son of man, Is it not in the day of My taking from them their strength, The joy of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, And the song of their soul, Their sons and their daughters?

26 î n ziua aceea, va veni un fugar la tine ca să te înştiinţeze.

In that day come doth the escaped one to thee. To cause the ears to hear.

27 Î n ziua aceea, când va veni fugarul, ţi se va deschide şi ţie gura, vei vorbi şi nu vei mai fi mut. Vei fi astfel un semn pentru popor şi ei vor şti că Eu sunt Domnul. “

In that day opened is thy mouth with the escaped, And thou speakest, and art not silent any more, And thou hast been to them for a type. And they have known that I Jehovah.'
