1 A tunci Iosua i-a chemat pe rubeniţi, pe gadiţi şi pe jumătate din seminţia lui Manase

Then Joshua calleth for the Reubenite, and for the Gadite, and for the half of the tribe of Manasseh,

2 ş i le-a spus: „Voi aţi păzit tot ceea ce v-a poruncit Moise, robul Domnului, şi aţi ascultat de mine în tot ceea ce v-am poruncit.

and saith unto them, `Ye -- ye have kept the whole of that which Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded you, and ye hearken to my voice, to all that I have commanded you;

3 N u i-aţi părăsit pe cei din poporul vostru în toată această perioadă îndelungată, până în ziua de azi, ci aţi păzit cu grijă porunca DOMNULui, Dumnezeul vostru.

ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, and have kept the charge -- the command of Jehovah your God.

4 Ş i acum, fiindcă Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, le-a dat odihnă fraţilor voştri, aşa cum le-a promis, întoarceţi-vă şi porniţi spre corturile voastre, în teritoriul pe care-l stăpâniţi şi pe care vi l-a dat Moise, robul Domnului, dincolo de Iordan.

`And, now, Jehovah your God hath given rest to your brethren, as He spake to them; and now, turn ye, and go for yourselves to your tents, unto the land of your possession, which Moses, servant of Jehovah, hath given to you beyond the Jordan.

5 A veţi însă foarte mare grijă să împliniţi poruncile şi Legea pe care v-a dat-o Moise, robul Domnului: să-L iubiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, să umblaţi în toate căile Lui, să ascultaţi de poruncile Lui, să vă alipiţi de El şi să-L slujiţi din toată inima voastră şi din tot sufletul vostru.“

Only, be very watchful to do the command and the law which Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded you, to love Jehovah your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and to cleave to Him, and to serve Him, with all your heart, and with all your soul.'

6 A poi Iosua i-a binecuvântat şi i-a trimis înapoi, iar ei au pornit către corturile lor.

And Joshua blesseth them, and sendeth them away, and they go unto their tents.

7 U nei jumătăţi din seminţia lui Manase, Moise îi dăduse moştenirea în Başan, iar celeilalte jumătăţi Iosua îi dăduse moştenirea lângă fraţii lor, în partea de apus a Iordanului. Când Iosua i-a trimis la corturile lor, el i-a binecuvântat

And to the half of the tribe of Manasseh hath Moses given, in Bashan, and to its half hath Joshua given with their brethren beyond the Jordan westward; and also when Joshua hath sent them away unto their tents, then he doth bless them,

8 ş i le-a spus: „Întoarceţi-vă la corturile voastre cu mulţimea bogăţiilor voastre – cu nenumăratele cirezi de vite, cu argintul, cu aurul, cu bronzul, cu fierul şi cu îmbrăcămintea voastră numeroasă – şi împărţiţi apoi şi cu ceilalţi fraţi ai voştri prada luată de la duşmani!“ Altarul mărturiei de la Ghelilot

and speak unto them, saying, `With great riches turn ye back unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.'

9 A tunci rubeniţii, gadiţii şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase s-au despărţit de israeliţi la Şilo, în Canaan, şi au pornit către Ghilad, spre teritoriul pe care l-au primit ca moştenire potrivit celor spuse de Domnul prin Moise.

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, turn back and go from the sons of Israel out of Shiloh, which in the land of Canaan, to go unto the land of Gilead, unto the land of their possession, in which they have possession, according to the command of Jehovah, by the hand of Moses;

10 C ând au ajuns la Ghelilot, lângă Iordan, pe malul canaanit, rubeniţii, gadiţii şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase au zidit un altar pe malul Iordanului, un altar de o mărime impresionantă.

and they come in unto the districts of the Jordan, which in the land of Canaan, and the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, build there an altar by the Jordan -- a great altar for appearance.

11 I sraeliţii au auzit că rubeniţii, gadiţii şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase au zidit un altar la marginea Canaanului, la Ghelilot, lângă Iordan, pe teritoriul israelit.

And the sons of Israel hear, saying, `Lo, the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, have built the altar over-against the land of Canaan, on the districts of the Jordan, at the passage of the sons of Israel.'

12 C ând au auzit israeliţii lucrul acesta, întreaga adunare s-a adunat la Şilo ca să pornească la luptă împotriva lor.

And the sons of Israel hear, and all the company of the sons of Israel is assembled at Shiloh, to go up against them to war;

13 A tunci israeliţii l-au trimis la rubeniţi, la gadiţi şi la jumătatea seminţiei lui Manase, în Ghilad, pe Fineas, fiul preotului Elazar,

and the sons of Israel send unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the half of the tribe of Manasseh -- unto the land of Gilead -- Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest,

14 î mpreună cu zece conducători, câte un conducător de clan din fiecare seminţie a lui Israel, toţi fiind conducători în familiile lor, între miile lui Israel.

and ten princes with him, one prince, one prince, for a house of a father, for all the tribes of Israel, and each of them a head of a house of their fathers, for the thousands of Israel.

15 E i au venit la rubeniţi, la gadiţi şi la jumătatea seminţiei lui Manase, în Ghilad şi le-au spus astfel:

And they come in unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the half of the tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and speak with them, saying,

16 „ Aşa vorbeşte adunarea Domnului: «Ce înseamnă această nelegiuire pe care aţi săvârşit-o faţă de Dumnezeul lui Israel şi de ce v-aţi abătut în această zi de la Domnul, zidindu-vă un altar pentru a vă răzvrăti astăzi împotriva Domnului ?

`Thus said all the company of Jehovah, What this trespass which ye have trespassed against the God of Israel, to turn back to-day from after Jehovah, by your building for you an altar, for your rebelling to-day against Jehovah?

17 A fost oare prea neînsemnată nelegiuirea lui Peor, de care nu am reuşit să ne curăţim nici până astăzi, chiar dacă adunarea Domnului a fost lovită cu urgie?

Is the iniquity of Peor little to us, from which we have not been cleansed till this day -- and the plague is in the company of Jehovah,

18 I ar voi vă abateţi astăzi de la Domnul!? Dacă voi vă răzvrătiţi astăzi împotriva Domnului, mâine El se va mânia pe întreaga adunare a lui Israel.

that ye turn back to-day from after Jehovah? and it hath been -- ye rebel to-day against Jehovah -- and to-morrow against all the company of Israel He is wroth.

19 D acă ţara pe care aţi primit-o ca moştenire este necurată, atunci traversaţi în ţara care este posesiunea Domnului, acolo unde este aşezat Tabernaculul Domnului şi luaţi-vă moştenirea printre noi, dar nu vă răzvrătiţi împotriva Domnului sau împotriva noastră, zidindu-vă un altar, altul decât altarul Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru.

`And surely, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over for you unto the land of the possession of Jehovah, where the tabernacle of Jehovah hath tabernacled, and have possession in our midst; and against Jehovah rebel not, and against us rebel not, by your building for you an altar, besides the altar of Jehovah our God.

20 C ând Acan, fiul lui Zerah a săvârşit o nelegiuire cu privire la ceea ce trebuia nimicit, oare mânia nu s-a revărsat asupra întregii adunări a lui Israel? Iar el nu a fost singurul care a murit în urma nelegiuirii lui.»“

Did not Achan son of Zerah commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and on all the company of Israel there was wrath? and he alone expired not in his iniquity.'

21 R ubeniţii, gadiţii şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase au răspuns astfel conducătorilor peste miile lui Israel.

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, answer and speak with the heads of the thousands of Israel:

22 „ Dumnezeu, da Dumnezeu, Domnul! Dumnezeu, chiar Dumnezeu, Domnul, El ştie şi Israel însuşi să ştie lucrul acesta: dacă este răzvrătire sau nelegiuire în noi faţă de Domnul, să nu ne cruţi astăzi!

`The God of gods -- Jehovah, the God of gods -- Jehovah, He is knowing, and Israel, he doth know, if in rebellion, and if in trespass against Jehovah (Thou dost not save us this day!)

23 D acă ne-am zidit un altar ca să ne abatem de la Domnul şi ca să aducem pe el arderi de tot şi daruri de mâncare sau ca să aducem jertfe de pace, atunci Domnul să ne ceară socoteală!

building for ourselves an altar to turn back from after Jehovah, and if to cause to go up on it burnt-offering and present, and if to make on it peace-offerings -- Jehovah Himself doth require.

24 D impotrivă, am făcut lucrul acesta fiindcă ne-am temut că într-o zi urmaşii voştri s-ar putea să le zică urmaşilor noştri: «Ce legătură este între voi şi Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel?

`And if not, from fear of thing we have done it, saying, Hereafter your sons do speak to ours sons, saying, What to you and to Jehovah God of Israel?

25 D omnul a pus Iordanul ca hotar între noi şi voi, urmaşi ai lui Ruben şi ai lui Gad. Voi nu aveţi nici o legătură cu moştenirea Domnului!» Aşa că urmaşii voştri i-ar putea face pe urmaşii noştri să nu se mai teamă de Domnul.

for a border hath Jehovah put between us and you, O sons of Reuben, and sons of Gad -- Jordan; ye have no portion in Jehovah -- and your sons have caused our sons to cease, not to fear Jehovah.

26 D e aceea ne-am hotărât să ne zidim un altar, nu pentru arderi de tot sau jertfe,

`And we say, Pray let us prepare for ourselves to build the altar -- not for burnt-offering nor for sacrifice --

27 c i ca să fie o mărturie între noi şi voi, pe de o parte, şi între urmaşii noştri şi urmaşii voştri, pe de altă parte, căci dorim să slujim înaintea feţei Domnului prin arderile de tot, prin darurile de mâncare şi prin jertfele de pace. Aşadar, urmaşii voştri nu le vor putea spune urmaşilor noştri: «Voi nu aveţi parte de Domnul!»

but a witness it between us and you, and between our generations after us, to do the service of Jehovah before Him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings, and your sons do not say hereafter to our sons, Ye have no portion in Jehovah.

28 D acă vreodată ne vor vorbi astfel nouă sau urmaşilor noştri, ne-am gândit să le răspundem astfel: «Priviţi acest altar al Domnului pe care l-au zidit strămoşii noştri, nu pentru a aduce arderi de tot şi jertfe, ci pentru a fi o mărturie între noi şi voi.»

`And we say, And it hath been, when they say unto us, and unto our generations hereafter, that we have said, See the pattern of the altar of Jehovah, which our fathers made -- not for burnt-offering nor for sacrifice -- but a witness it between us and you.

29 D eparte de noi gândul să ne răzvrătim împotriva Domnului şi să ne abatem astăzi de la Domnul, zidindu-ne un altar pentru arderi de tot, daruri de mâncare sau jertfe, altul decât altarul Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, care este înaintea Cortului Său!“

`Far be it from us to rebel against Jehovah, and to turn back to-day from after Jehovah, to build an altar for burnt-offering, for present, and for sacrifice, apart from the altar of Jehovah our God, which before His tabernacle.'

30 C ând preotul Fineas, conducătorii adunării şi căpeteniile miilor lui Israel, au auzit cuvintele pe care le-au rostit urmaşii lui Ruben, urmaşii lui Gad şi urmaşii lui Manase, au fost mulţumiţi.

And Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the company, and the heads of the thousands of Israel, who with him, hear the words which the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the sons of Manasseh have spoken, and it is good in their eyes.

31 P reotul Fineas, fiul lui Elazar, le-a răspuns astfel urmaşilor lui Ruben, urmaşilor lui Gad şi urmaşilor lui Manase: „Ştim astăzi că Domnul este în mijlocul nostru, fiindcă nu aţi săvârşit nelegiuirea aceasta împotriva Domnului şi i-aţi salvat astfel pe israeliţi din mâna Domnului!“

And Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest saith unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the sons of Manasseh, `To-day we have known that Jehovah in our midst, because ye have not committed against Jehovah this trespass -- then ye have delivered the sons of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah.'

32 A poi preotul Fineas, fiul lui Elazar, şi conducătorii i-au părăsit pe rubeniţi şi pe gadiţi în Ghilad şi s-au întors la israeliţi, în ţara Canaanului, istorisindu-le cele întâmplate.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, turn back from the sons of Reuben, and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, unto the sons of Israel, and bring them back word;

33 I sraeliţii au fost mulţumiţi de ceea ce au auzit, aşa că au binecuvântat pe Dumnezeu şi n-au mai pornit la război ca să pustiască teritoriul locuit de rubeniţi şi de gadiţi.

and the thing is good in the eyes of the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel bless God, and have not said to go up against them to war, to destroy the land which the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, are dwelling in.

34 R ubeniţii şi gadiţii au numit altarul Ed, zicând: „ Altarul este o mărturie între noi că Domnul este Dumnezeu.“

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad proclaim concerning the altar, that `it a witness between us that Jehovah God.'
