1 Î n al optsprezecelea an de domnie a regelui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, peste Iuda a început să domnească Abia.

And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam son of Nebat, reigned hath Abijam over Judah;

2 E l a domnit la Ierusalim timp de trei ani. Mama lui se numea Maaca şi era fiica lui Absalom.

three years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Maachah daughter of Abishalom;

3 E l a trăit în toate păcatele pe care tatăl său le săvârşise înaintea lui şi inima lui nu I-a fost devotată în întregime Domnului, Dumnezeul său, cum fusese inima strămoşului său David.

and he walketh in all the sins of his father, that he did before him, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father;

4 T otuşi Domnul, Dumnezeul său, i-a dat o lumină în Ierusalim de dragul lui David, ridicându-l la tron pe fiul său după el şi consolidând Ierusalimul,

but for David's sake hath Jehovah his God given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,

5 c ăci David a făcut ce este drept înaintea Domnului şi toată viaţa lui nu s-a abătut de la nici una dintre poruncile pe care El i le dăduse, în afară de evenimentul cu hititul Urie.

in that David did that which right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all that He commanded him all days of his life -- only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;

6 C ât timp a trăit Roboam, Ieroboam a fost în război cu el.

and war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 C elelalte fapte ale lui Abia şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“? Între Abia şi Ieroboam a fost război.

And the rest of the matters of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? And war hath been between Abijam and Jeroboam;

8 A bia s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi l-au înmormântat în Cetatea lui David, iar în locul lui a domnit fiul său Asa. Domnia lui Asa în Iuda

and Abijam lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead.

9 Î n al douăzecilea an al domniei lui Ieroboam, regele lui Israel, Asa a început să domnească peste Iuda.

And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Asa over Judah,

10 E l a domnit la Ierusalim timp de patruzeci şi unu de ani. Bunica lui se numea Maaca şi era fiica lui Absalom.

and forty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Maachah daughter of Abishalom.

11 A sa a făcut ce este drept înaintea Domnului, ca strămoşul său David.

And Asa doth that which right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father,

12 I -a nimicit din ţară pe bărbaţii care se prostituau şi a îndepărtat toţi idolii pe care părinţii lui îi făcuseră.

and removeth the whoremongers out of the land, and turneth aside all the idols that his fathers made;

13 D e asemenea, chiar şi pe bunica sa, Maaca, nu a mai lăsat-o să fie regină, pentru că făcuse un idol hidos al Aşerei. Asa i-a sfărâmat idolul şi l-a ars lângă uedul Chidron.

and also Maachah his mother -- he turneth her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for a shrine, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and burneth by the brook Kidron;

14 D ar înălţimile nu au fost îndepărtate, deşi inima lui Asa I-a fost devotată în întregime Domnului în tot timpul vieţii lui.

and the high places have not turned aside; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect with Jehovah all his days,

15 E l a adus în Casa Domnului lucrurile pe care el şi tatăl său le închinaseră Domnului: argintul, aurul şi vasele.

and he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of Jehovah, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 Î ntre Asa şi Başa, regele lui Israel, a fost război în tot timpul vieţii lor.

And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days,

17 B aşa, regele lui Israel, a înaintat împotriva lui Iuda. El a început să fortifice Rama, ca să nu dea voie nimănui să iasă sau să intre în teritoriul lui Asa, regele lui Iuda.

and Baasha king of Israel goeth up against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, not to permit any one going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

18 A sa a luat tot argintul şi aurul care rămăsese în vistieriile Casei Domnului şi în vistieriile palatului regelui şi l-a dat slujitorilor săi. Apoi, regele Asa i-a trimis pe aceştia la Ben-Hadad, fiul lui Tab-Rimon, fiul lui Hezion, regele Aramului, care locuia în Damasc, zicându-i astfel:

And Asa taketh all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and giveth them into the hand of his servants, and king Asa sendeth them unto Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

19 „ Să fie un legământ între mine şi tine, aşa cum a fost între tatăl meu şi tatăl tău. Iată, îţi trimit un dar de argint şi de aur! Du-te deci şi rupe legământul tău cu Başa, regele lui Israel, ca el să se retragă dinaintea mea.“

`A covenant between me and thee, between my father and thy father; lo, I have sent to thee a reward of silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goeth up from off me.'

20 B en-Hadad a ascultat de regele Asa şi i-a trimis pe conducătorii oştirilor sale împotriva cetăţilor lui Israel. Ei au cucerit cetăţile Iyon, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maaca, tot Chineretul, precum şi toată ţara lui Neftali.

And Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath against cities of Israel, and smiteth Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;

21 C ând Başa a auzit acest lucru, a încetat să mai fortifice Rama şi s-a retras la Tirţa.

and it cometh to pass at Baasha's hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and dwelleth in Tirzah.

22 A tunci regele Asa i-a chemat pe toţi cei din Iuda – nici unul n-a fost scutit – ca să ia pietrele şi lemnele folosite de Başa la fortificarea Ramei. Regele Asa le-a folosit la fortificarea Ghevei din Beniamin şi a Miţpei.

And king Asa hath summoned all Judah -- there is none exempt -- and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and king Asa buildeth with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 C elelalte fapte ale lui Asa, toată puterea lui, tot ce a făcut el şi cetăţile pe care le-a zidit, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“? La bătrâneţe el a avut o boală de picioare.

And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;

24 A sa s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat alături de părinţii săi, în cetatea strămoşului său David. Apoi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Iehoşafat. Domnia lui Nadab peste Israel şi complotul lui Başa

and Asa lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead.

25 N adab, fiul lui Ieroboam, a început să domnească peste Israel în al doilea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, şi a domnit timp de doi ani peste Israel.

And Nadab son of Jeroboam hath reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigneth over Israel two years,

26 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului şi a trăit ca tatăl său; a trăit în păcatele prin care acesta îl făcuse şi pe Israel să păcătuiască.

and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.

27 B aşa, fiul lui Ahia, din seminţia lui Isahar, a uneltit împotriva lui şi l-a ucis la Ghibeton, care aparţine filistenilor, în timp ce Nadab şi tot Israelul asediau Ghibetonul.

And conspire against him doth Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, and Baasha smiteth him in Gibbethon, which to the Philistines -- and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon --

28 B aşa l-a ucis în al treilea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, şi a domnit el în locul lui.

yea, Baasha putteth him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead.

29 C ând a devenit rege, Başa a omorât toată familia lui Ieroboam; n-a lăsat pe nimeni în viaţă dintre cei ai lui Ieroboam, ci i-a omorât pe toţi, potrivit cuvântului profeţit de Domnul prin robul Său Ahia din Şilo,

And it cometh to pass, at his reigning, he hath smitten the whole house of Jeroboam, he hath not left any breathing to Jeroboam till his destroying him, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

30 d in cauza păcatelor pe care Ieroboam le făcuse şi prin care îl făcuse şi pe Israel să păcătuiască mâniindu-L astfel pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked to anger Jehovah, God of Israel.

31 C elelalte fapte ale lui Nadab şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

And the rest of the matters of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Î ntre Asa şi Başa, regele lui Israel, a fost război în tot timpul vieţii lor. Domnia lui Başa peste Israel

And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 Î n al treilea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, Başa, fiul lui Ahia, a început să domnească peste tot Israelul, la Tirţa, şi a domnit timp de douăzeci şi patru de ani.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Baasha son of Ahijah over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years,

34 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului şi a umblat în căile lui Ieroboam, comițând păcatele prin care acesta îl făcuse şi pe Israel să păcătuiască.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
