1 A ceşti trei oameni au încetat să-i mai răspundă lui Iov, pentru că el se considera drept.

And these three men cease from answering Job, for he righteous in his own eyes,

2 A tunci Elihu, fiul lui Barachel din Buz, din familia lui Ram, s-a aprins de mânie. El s-a mâniat pentru că acesta se îndreptăţea pe sine înaintea lui Dumnezeu.

and burn doth the anger of Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram; against Job hath his anger burned, because of his justifying himself more than God;

3 S -a aprins de mânie şi pe cei trei prieteni ai lui Iov pentru că aceştia nu mai găseau nimic de răspuns şi totuşi îl condamnau pe Iov.

and against his three friends hath his anger burned, because that they have not found an answer, and condemn Job.

4 E lihu aşteptase să-i vorbească lui Iov la urmă, pentru că aceştia erau mai în vârstă decât el.

And Elihu hath waited earnestly beside Job with words, for they are older than he in days.

5 D ar, văzând că cei trei oameni nu mai au nimic de zis, s-a mâniat.

And Elihu seeth that there is no answer in the mouth of the three men, and his anger burneth.

6 E lihu, fiul lui Barachel din Buz, i-a zis: „Eu sunt tânăr, iar voi sunteţi în vârstă; de aceea m-am temut şi n-am îndrăznit să vă spun ce ştiu.

And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite answereth and saith: -- Young I in days, and ye age Therefore I have feared, And am afraid of shewing you my opinion.

7 M i-am zis: «Să vorbească bătrâneţea, anii cei mulţi să ne înveţe înţelepciunea!»

I said: Days do speak, And multitude of years teach wisdom.

8 D ar există un duh în om, suflarea Celui Atotputernic, care-i dă pricepere.

Surely a spirit is in man, And the breath of the Mighty One Doth cause them to understand.

9 N u vârsta te face înţelept, nu bătrâneţea te face să înţelegi ce e drept.

The multitude are not wise, Nor do the aged understand judgment.

10 D e aceea zic: «Ascultaţi-mă, îmi voi spune şi eu părerea!»

Therefore I have said: Hearken to me, I do shew my opinion -- even I.

11 A m aşteptat în timp ce vorbeaţi, am ascultat cuvintele voastre înţelepte în timp ce căutaţi ce să îi spuneţi.

Lo, I have waited for your words, I give ear unto your reasons, Till ye search out sayings.

12 V -am ascultat cu atenţie, dar nici unul din voi n-a dovedit că Iov a greşit, nici unul nu a răspuns cuvintelor lui.

And unto you I attend, And lo, there is no reasoner for Job, answerer of his sayings among you.

13 S ă nu spuneţi: «Am dat peste înţelepciune; să-l confrunte Dumnezeu, nu un om.»

Lest ye say, We have found wisdom, God doth thrust him away, not man.

14 E l nu şi-a îndreptat cuvintele împotriva mea şi nu-i voi răspunde folosind cuvântările voastre.

And he hath not set in array words for me, And with your sayings I do not answer him.

15 S unt uimiţi, nu mai au nimic de spus, au rămas fără cuvinte.

(They have broken down, They have not answered again, They removed from themselves words.

16 S ă aştept pentru că ei nu mai vorbesc, pentru că stau acolo fără să răspundă?

And I have waited, but they do not speak, For they have stood still, They have not answered any more.)

17 V oi răspunde şi eu şi îmi voi spune părerea.

I answer, even I -- my share, I shew my opinion -- even I.

18 S unt plin de cuvinte, duhul din mine nu-mi dă pace;

For I have been full of words, Distressed me hath the spirit of my breast,

19 î năuntrul meu este ca un vin care n-are pe unde să iasă, ca nişte burdufuri noi, gata să plesnească.

Lo, my breast as wine not opened, Like new bottles it is broken up.

20 V oi vorbi ca să găsesc uşurare. Îmi voi deschide gura şi voi răspunde.

I speak, and there is refreshment to me, I open my lips and answer.

21 N u voi fi părtinitor, nu voi linguşi pe nimeni.

Let me not, I pray you, accept the face of any, Nor unto man give flattering titles,

22 N ici nu ştiu să linguşesc; Făcătorul meu m-ar lua într-o clipă.

For I have not known to give flattering titles, In a little doth my Maker take me away.
