2 Î n ziua necazului meu L-am căutat pe Stăpân. Noaptea îmi ţineam întinsă mâna în rugăciune, iar sufletul meu refuza să fie mângâiat.

In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.

3 M i-am adus aminte de Dumnezeu şi am oftat, am cugetat şi duhul mi-a căzut în leşin. Sela

I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.

4 T u ai păstrat lumina ochilor mei, chiar dacă am fost atât de răvăşit, încât nici nu puteam să mai vorbesc.

Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.

5 M i-am adus aminte de zilele de odinioară, de anii de demult;

I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.

6 m i-am amintit de cântecele mele din timpul nopţii. Am cugetat în inima mea, m-am întrebat în duhul meu:

I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:

7 „ Oare Stăpânul leapădă pentru totdeauna? Să nu mai fie niciodată binevoitor?

To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?

8 O are Şi-a oprit îndurarea pe vecie? A pus El oare capăt promisiunii Lui din neam în neam?

Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?

9 O are a uitat Dumnezeu de îndurare? În mânia Lui, Şi-a retras El oare mila?“ Sela

Hath God forgotten favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.

10 A tunci am zis: „Ceea ce mă face să sufăr este că dreapta Celui Preaînalt s-a schimbat.“

And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.'

11 D ar îmi voi aminti lucrările Domnului; da, îmi voi aduce aminte de minunile Tale de odinioară!

I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,

12 V oi cugeta la toate faptele Tale, mă voi gândi la minunile Tale.

And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.

13 D umnezeule, calea Ta este sfântă! Care zeu este atât de mare ca Dumnezeu ?

O God, in holiness Thy way, Who a great god like God?

14 T u eşti Dumnezeul înfăptuitor de minuni! Tu Ţi-ai descoperit puterea popoarelor!

Thou the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,

15 C u braţul Tău Ţi-ai răscumpărat poporul, pe fiii lui Iacov şi ai lui Iosif. Sela

Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 C ând Te-au văzut apele, Dumnezeule, când Te-au văzut apele, s-au învolburat, iar adâncurile s-au cutremurat.

The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid -- also depths are troubled.

17 N orii au revărsat apa, tunetul a bubuit în cer, iar săgeţile Tale s-au împrăştiat în toate părţile.

Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also -- Thine arrows go up and down.

18 B ubuitul tunetului Tău trecea prin vijelie, iar fulgerele luminau lumea; pământul s-a clătinat şi s-a zguduit.

The voice of Thy thunder in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.

19 C alea Ta a trecut prin mare, iar cărarea Ta – prin ape mari, şi nu Ţi s-au mai cunoscut urmele.

In the sea Thy way, And Thy paths in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.

20 Ţ i-ai condus poporul ca pe o turmă, prin mâna lui Moise şi a lui Aaron.

Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
