2 Q uando estou angustiado, busco o Senhor; de noite estendo as mãos sem cessar; a minha alma está inconsolável!

In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.

3 L embro-me de ti, ó Deus, e suspiro; começo a meditar, e o meu espírito desfalece. Pausa

I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.

4 N ão me permites fechar os olhos; tão inquieto estou que não consigo falar.

Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.

5 F ico a pensar nos dias que se foram, nos anos há muito passados;

I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.

6 d e noite recordo minhas canções. O meu coração medita, e o meu espírito pergunta:

I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:

7 I rá o Senhor rejeitar-nos para sempre? Jamais tornará a mostrar-nos o seu favor?

To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?

8 D esapareceu para sempre o seu amor? Acabou-se a sua promessa?

Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?

9 E squeceu-se Deus de ser misericordioso? Em sua ira refreou sua compaixão?Pausa

Hath God forgotten favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.

10 E ntão pensei: A razão da minha dor é que a mão direita do Altíssimo não age mais.

And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.'

11 R ecordarei os feitos do Senhor; recordarei os teus antigos milagres.

I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,

12 M editarei em todas as tuas obras e considerarei todos os teus feitos.

And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.

13 T eus caminhos, ó Deus, são santos. Que deus é tão grande como o nosso Deus?

O God, in holiness Thy way, Who a great god like God?

14 T u és o Deus que realiza milagres; mostras o teu poder entre os povos.

Thou the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,

15 C om o teu braço forte resgataste o teu povo, os descendentes de Jacó e de José. Pausa

Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 A s águas te viram, ó Deus, as águas te viram e se contorceram; até os abismos estremeceram.

The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid -- also depths are troubled.

17 A s nuvens despejaram chuvas, ressoou nos céus o trovão; as tuas flechas reluziam em todas as direções.

Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also -- Thine arrows go up and down.

18 N o redemoinho, estrondou o teu trovão, os teus relâmpagos iluminaram o mundo; a terra tremeu e sacudiu-se.

The voice of Thy thunder in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.

19 A tua vereda passou pelo mar, o teu caminho pelas águas poderosas, e ninguém viu as tuas pegadas.

In the sea Thy way, And Thy paths in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.

20 G uiaste o teu povo como a um rebanho pela mão de Moisés e de Arão.

Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
