1 J osias celebrou a Páscoa do Senhor em Jerusalém, e o cordeiro da Páscoa foi abatido no décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês.

And Josiah maketh in Jerusalem a passover to Jehovah, and they slaughter the passover-offering on the fourteenth of the first month,

2 E le nomeou os sacerdotes para as suas responsabilidades e os encorajou a se dedicarem ao serviço no templo do Senhor.

and he stationeth the priests over their charges, and strengtheneth them for the service of the house of Jehovah,

3 E le disse aos levitas que instruíam todo o Israel e haviam sido consagrados ao Senhor: “Ponham a arca sagrada no templo construído por Salomão, filho de Davi, rei de Israel. Vocês não precisam mais levá-la de um lado para outro sobre os ombros. Agora sirvam ao Senhor, o seu Deus, e a Israel, o povo dele.

and saith to the Levites -- who are teaching all Israel -- who are sanctified to Jehovah, `Put the holy ark in the house that Solomon son of David king of Israel built; it is not to you a burden on the shoulder. `Now, serve Jehovah your God, and His people Israel,

4 P reparem-se por famílias, em suas divisões, de acordo com a orientação escrita por Davi, rei de Israel, e por seu filho Salomão.

and prepare, by the house of your fathers, according to your courses, by the writing of David king of Israel, and by the writing of Solomon his son,

5 “ Fiquem no Lugar Santo com um grupo de levitas para cada subdivisão das famílias do povo.

and stand in the sanctuary, by the divisions of the house of the fathers of your brethren, sons of the people, and the portion of the house of a father of the Levites,

6 A batam os cordeiros da Páscoa, consagrem-se e preparem os cordeiros para os seus irmãos israelitas, fazendo o que o Senhor ordenou por meio de Moisés”.

and slaughter the passover-offering and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brethren, to do according to the word of Jehovah by the hand of Moses.'

7 J osias deu a todo o povo que ali estava um total de trinta mil ovelhas e cabritos para as ofertas da Páscoa, além de três mil bois; tudo foi tirado dos bens pessoais do rei.

And Josiah lifteth up to the sons of the people a flock of lambs and young goats, the whole for passover-offerings, for every one who is found, to the number of thirty thousand, and oxen three thousand: these from the substance of the king.

8 S eus oficiais também contribuíram voluntariamente para o povo, para os sacerdotes e para os levitas. Hilquias, Zacarias e Jeiel, os administradores do templo de Deus, deram aos sacerdotes duas mil e seiscentas ovelhas e cabritos e trezentos bois.

And his heads, for a willing-offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites, have lifted up; Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Jehiel, leaders in the house of God, to the priests have given for passover-offerings two thousand and six hundred, and oxen three hundred;

9 T ambém Conanias, com seus irmãos Semaías e Natanael, e os líderes dos levitas Hasabias, Jeiel e Jozabade, ofereceram aos levitas cinco mil ovelhas e cabritos e quinhentos bois.

and Conaniah, and Shemaiah, and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah, and Jeiel, and Jozabad, heads of the Levites, have lifted up to the Levites, for passover-offerings, five thousand, and oxen five hundred.

10 O serviço foi organizado e os sacerdotes assumiram os seus lugares com os levitas em seus turnos, conforme o rei ordenara.

And the service is prepared, and the priests stand on their station, and the Levites on their courses, according to the command of the king,

11 O s cordeiros da Páscoa foram abatidos, e os sacerdotes aspergiram o sangue que lhes fora entregue, enquanto os levitas tiravam a pele dos animais.

and they slaughter the passover-offering, and the priests sprinkle out of their hand, and the Levites are striping;

12 E les separaram também os holocaustos para dá-los aos grupos das famílias do povo, para que elas os oferecessem ao Senhor, conforme está escrito no Livro de Moisés; e fizeram o mesmo com os bois.

and they turn aside the burnt-offering, to put them by the divisions of the house of the fathers of the sons of the people, to bring near to Jehovah, as it is written in the book of Moses -- and so to the oxen.

13 A ssaram os animais da Páscoa sobre o fogo, conforme prescrito, cozinharam as ofertas sagradas em potes, caldeirões e panelas, e serviram rapidamente todo o povo.

And they cook the passover with fire, according to the ordinance, and the sanctified things they have cooked in pots, and in kettles, and in pans -- for all the sons of the people.

14 D epois disso, os levitas prepararam a parte deles e a dos sacerdotes, pois estes, descendentes de Arão, ficaram sacrificando os holocaustos e as porções de gordura até o anoitecer. Foi por isso que os levitas prepararam a parte deles e a dos sacerdotes, descendentes de Arão.

And afterward they have prepared for themselves, and for the priests: for the priests, sons of Aaron, in the offering up of the burnt-offering and of the fat till night; and the Levites have prepared for themselves, and for the priests, sons of Aaron.

15 O s músicos, descendentes de Asafe, estavam nos locais prescritos por Davi e por Asafe, Hemã e Jedutum, vidente do rei. Os porteiros que guardavam cada porta não precisaram deixar os seus postos, pois os seus colegas levitas prepararam as ofertas para eles.

And the singers, sons of Asaph, on their station, according to the command of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun seer of the king, and the gate keepers at gate and gate; it is not for them to turn aside from off their service, for their brethren the Levites have prepared for them.

16 A ssim, naquele dia, todo o serviço do Senhor foi executado para a celebração da Páscoa e para a apresentação de holocaustos no altar do Senhor, conforme o rei Josias havia ordenado.

And all the service of Jehovah is prepared on that day, to keep the passover, and to cause to ascend burnt-offering upon the altar of Jehovah, according to the command of king Josiah.

17 O s israelitas que estavam presentes celebraram a Páscoa naquele dia e durante sete dias celebraram a festa dos pães sem fermento.

And the sons of Israel who are found make the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened things, seven days.

18 A Páscoa não havia sido celebrada dessa maneira em Israel desde os dias do profeta Samuel; e nenhum dos reis de Israel havia celebrado uma Páscoa como esta, como o fez Josias, com os sacerdotes, os levitas e todo o Judá e Israel que estavam ali com o povo de Jerusalém.

And there hath not been made a passover like it in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, and none of the kings of Israel made such a passover as Josiah hath made, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who are found, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 E sta Páscoa foi celebrada no décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Josias. A Morte de Josias

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah hath this passover been made.

20 D epois de tudo o que Josias fez, e depois de colocar em ordem o templo, Neco, rei do Egito, saiu para lutar em Carquemis, junto ao Eufrates, e Josias marchou para combatê-lo.

After all this, when Josiah hath prepared the house, come up hath Necho king of Egypt, to fight against Carchemish by Phrat, and Josiah goeth forth to meet him;

21 N eco, porém, enviou-lhe mensageiros, dizendo: “Não interfiras nisso, ó rei de Judá. Desta vez não estou atacando a ti, mas a outro reino com o qual estou em guerra. Deus me disse que me apressasse; por isso pára de te opores a Deus, que está comigo; caso contrário ele te destruirá”.

and he sendeth unto him messengers, saying, `What -- to me and to thee, O king of Judah? not against thee do I come to-day, but unto the house with which I have war, and God said to haste me; cease for thee from God who with me, and He doth not destroy thee.'

22 J osias, contudo, não quis voltar atrás, e disfarçou-se para enfrentá-lo em combate. Ele não quis ouvir o que Neco lhe dissera por ordem de Deus, e foi combatê-lo na planície de Megido.

And Josiah hath not turned round his face from him, but to fight against him hath disguised himself, and hath not hearkened unto the words of Necho, from the mouth of God, and cometh in to fight in the valley of Megiddo;

23 N a batalha, flecheiros atingiram o rei Josias, pelo que disse aos seus oficiais: “Tirem-me daqui. Estou gravemente ferido”.

and the archers shoot at king Josiah, and the king saith to his servants, `Remove me, for I have become very sick.'

24 E les o tiraram do seu carro, colocaram-no em outro e o levaram para Jerusalém, onde morreu. Ele foi sepultado nos túmulos dos seus antepassados, e todos os moradores de Judá e de Jerusalém choraram por ele.

And his servants remove him from the chariot, and cause him to ride on the second chariot that he hath, and cause him to go to Jerusalem, and he dieth, and is buried in the graves of his fathers, and all Judah and Jerusalem are mourning for Josiah,

25 J eremias compôs um cântico de lamento em homenagem a Josias, e até hoje todos os cantores e cantoras homenageiam Josias com cânticos de lamento. Estes se tornaram uma tradição em Israel e estão escritos na coletânea de lamentações.

and Jeremiah lamenteth for Josiah, and all the singers and the songstresses speak in their lamentations of Josiah unto this day, and set them for a statute on Israel, and lo, they are written beside the lamentations.

26 O s demais acontecimentos do reinado de Josias e os seus atos piedosos, de acordo com o que está escrito na Lei do Senhor,

And the rest of the matters of Josiah, and his kind acts, according as it is written in the law of Jehovah,

27 t odos os acontecimentos, do início ao fim, estão escritos nos registros históricos dos reis de Israel e de Judá.

even his matters, the first and the last, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
