1 Q uando Acaz, filho de Jotão e neto de Uzias, era rei de Judá, o rei Rezim, da Síria, e Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, atacaram Jerusalém, mas não puderam vencê-la.

And it cometh to pass in the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, gone up hath Rezin king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle against it, and he is not able to fight against it.

2 I nformaram ao rei: “A Síria montou acampamento em Efraim”. Com isso o coração de Acaz e do seu povo agitou-se, como as árvores da floresta agitam-se com o vento.

And it is declared to the house of David, saying, `Aram hath been led towards Ephraim,' And his heart and the heart of his people is moved, like the moving of trees of a forest by the presence of wind.

3 E ntão o Senhor disse a Isaías: “Saia, e leve seu filho Sear-Jasube. Vá encontrar-se com Acaz no final do aqueduto do açude Superior, na estrada que vai para o campo do Lavandeiro.

And Jehovah saith unto Isaiah, `Go forth, I pray thee, to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-Jashub thy son, unto the end of the conduit of the upper pool, unto the highway of the fuller's field,

4 D iga a ele: Tenha cuidado, acalme-se e não tenha medo. Que o seu coração não desanime por causa do furor destes restos de lenha fumegantes: Rezim, a Síria e o filho de Remalias.

and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah.

5 “ Porque a Síria, Efraim e o filho de Remalias têm tramado a sua ruína, dizendo:

Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:

6 ‘ Vamos invadir o reino de Judá; vamos rasgá-lo e dividi-lo entre nós, e fazer o filho de Tabeel reinar sobre ele’”.

We go up into Judah, and we vex it, And we rend it unto ourselves, And we cause a king to reign in its midst -- The son of Tabeal.

7 A ssim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: “Não será assim, isso não acontecerá,

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: It doth not stand, nor shall it be!

8 p ois a cabeça da Síria é Damasco, e a cabeça de Damasco é Rezim. Em sessenta e cinco anos Efraim ficará muito arruinado para ser um povo.

For the head of Aram Damascus, And the head of Damascus Rezin, And within sixty and five years Is Ephraim broken from a people.

9 A cabeça de Efraim é Samaria, e a cabeça de Samaria é o filho de Remalias. Se vocês não ficarem firmes na fé, com certeza não resistirão!”

And the head of Ephraim Samaria, And the head of Samaria the son of Remaliah. If ye do not give credence, Surely ye are not stedfast.'

10 D isse ainda o Senhor a Acaz:

And Jehovah addeth to speak unto Ahaz, saying:

11 “ Peça ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, um sinal miraculoso, seja das maiores profundezas, seja das alturas mais elevadas”.

`Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make high upwards.'

12 M as Acaz disse: “Não pedirei; não porei o Senhor à prova”.

And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.'

13 D isse então Isaías: “Ouçam agora, descendentes de Davi! Não basta abusarem da paciência dos homens? Também vão abusar da paciência do meu Deus?

And he saith, `Hear, I pray you, O house of David, Is it a little thing for you to weary men, That ye weary also my God?

14 P or isso o Senhor mesmo lhes dará um sinal: a virgem ficará grávida e dará à luz um filho, e o chamará Emanuel.

Therefore the Lord Himself giveth to you a sign, Lo, the Virgin is conceiving, And is bringing forth a son, And hath called his name Immanuel,

15 E le comerá coalhada e mel até a idade em que saiba rejeitar o erro e escolher o que é certo.

Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good.

16 M as, antes que o menino saiba rejeitar o erro e escolher o que é certo, a terra dos dois reis que você teme ficará deserta.

For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings.

17 O Senhor trará o rei da Assíria sobre você e sobre o seu povo e sobre a descendência de seu pai. Serão dias como nunca houve, desde que Efraim se separou de Judá”.

Jehovah bringeth on thee, and on thy people, And on the house of thy father, Days that have not come, Even from the day of the turning aside of Ephraim from Judah, By the king of Asshur.

18 N aquele dia o Senhor assobiará para chamar as moscas dos distantes rios do Egito e as abelhas da Assíria.

And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah doth hiss for a fly that in the extremity of the brooks of Egypt, And for a bee that in the land of Asshur.

19 T odas virão e pousarão nos vales íngremes e nas fendas das rochas, em todos os espinheiros e em todas as cisternas.

And they have come, and rested all of them in the desolate valleys, And in holes of the rocks, and on all the thorns, And on all the commendable things.

20 N aquele dia o Senhor utilizará uma navalha alugada de além do Eufrates, o rei da Assíria, para rapar a sua cabeça e os pêlos de suas pernas e da sua barba.

In that day doth the Lord shave, By a razor that is hired beyond the river, By the king of Asshur, The head, and the hair of the feet, Yea, also the beard it consumeth.

21 N aquele dia o homem que tiver uma vaca e duas cabras

And it hath come to pass, in that day, A man keepeth alive a heifer of the herd, And two of the flock,

22 t erá coalhada para comer, graças à fartura de leite que elas darão. Todos os que ficarem na terra comerão coalhada e mel.

And it hath come to pass, From the abundance of the yielding of milk he eateth butter, For butter and honey doth every one eat Who is left in the heart of the land.

23 N aquele dia, todo lugar onde havia mil videiras no valor de doze quilos de prata será deixado para as roseiras bravas e para os espinheiros.

And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns.

24 O s homens entrarão ali com arcos e flechas, pois todo o país estará coberto de roseiras bravas e de espinheiros.

With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn.

25 E às colinas antes lavradas com enxada você não irá mais, porque terá medo das roseiras bravas e dos espinheiros; nesses lugares os bois ficarão à solta e as ovelhas correrão livremente.

And all the hills that with a mattock are kept in order, Thither cometh not the fear of brier and thorn, And it hath been for the sending forth of ox, And for the treading of sheep!'
