1 s endo que, no primeiro ano de Dario, rei dos medos, ajudei-o e dei-lhe apoio. Os Reis do Sul e os Reis do Norte

`And I, in the first year of Darius the Mede, my standing for a strengthener, and for a stronghold to him;

2 “ Agora, pois, vou dar-lhe a conhecer a verdade: Outros três reis aparecerão na Pérsia, e depois virá um quarto rei, que será bem mais rico do que os anteriores. Depois de conquistar o poder com sua riqueza, instigará todos contra o reino da Grécia.

and, now, truth I declare to thee, Lo, yet three kings are standing for Persia, and the fourth doth become far richer than all, and according to his strength by his riches he stirreth up the whole, with the kingdom of Javan.

3 E ntão surgirá um rei guerreiro, que governará com grande poder e fará o que quiser.

And a mighty king hath stood, and he hath ruled a great dominion, and hath done according to his will;

4 L ogo depois de estabelecido, o seu império se desfará e será repartido para os quatro ventos do céu. Não passará para os seus descendentes, e o império não será poderoso como antes, pois será desarraigado e entregue a outros.

and according to his standing is his kingdom broken, and divided to the four winds of the heavens, and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion that he ruled, for his kingdom is plucked up -- and for others apart from these.

5 “ O rei do sul se tornará forte, mas um dos seus príncipes se tornará ainda mais forte que ele e governará o seu próprio reino com grande poder.

`And a king of the south -- even of his princes -- doth become strong, and doth prevail against him, and hath ruled; a great dominion his dominion.

6 D epois de alguns anos, eles se tornarão aliados. A filha do rei do sul fará um tratado com o rei do norte, mas ela não manterá o seu poder, nem ele conservará o dele. Naqueles dias ela será entregue à morte, com sua escolta real e com seu pai e com aquele que a apoiou.

`And at the end of years they do join themselves together, and a daughter of the king of the south doth come in unto the king of the north to do upright things; and she doth not retain the power of the arm; and he doth not stand, nor his arm; and she is given up, she, and those bringing her in, and her child, and he who is strengthening her in times.

7 “ Alguém da linhagem dela se levantará para tomar-lhe o lugar. Ele atacará as forças do rei do norte e invadirá a sua fortaleza; lutará contra elas e será vitorioso.

`And hath stood up from a branch of her roots, his station, and he cometh in unto the bulwark, yea, he cometh into a stronghold of the king of the south, and hath wrought against them, and hath done mightily;

8 T ambém tomará os deuses deles, as suas imagens de metal e os seus utensílios valiosos de prata e de ouro, e os levará para o Egito. Por alguns anos ele deixará o rei do norte em paz.

and also their gods, with their princes, with their desirable vessels of silver and gold, into captivity he bringeth Egypt; and he doth stand more years than the king of the north.

9 E ntão o rei do norte invadirá as terras do rei do sul, mas terá que se retirar para a sua própria terra.

`And the king of the south hath come into the kingdom, and turned back unto his own land;

10 S eus filhos se prepararão para a guerra e reunirão um grande exército, que avançará como uma inundação irresistível e levará os combates até a fortaleza do rei do sul.

and his sons stir themselves up, and have gathered a multitude of great forces, and he hath certainly come in, and overflowed, and passed through, and he turneth back, and they stir themselves up unto his stronghold.

11 “ Em face disso, o rei do sul marchará furioso para combater o rei do norte, que o enfrentará com um enorme exército, mas, apesar disso, será derrotado.

And the king of the south doth become embittered, and hath gone forth and fought with him, with the king of the north, and hath caused a great multitude to stand, and the multitude hath been given into his hand,

12 Q uando o exército for vencido, o rei do sul se encherá de orgulho e matará milhares, mas o seu triunfo será breve.

and he hath carried away the multitude, his heart is high, and he hath caused myriads to fall, and he doth not become strong.

13 P ois o rei do norte reunirá outro exército, maior que o primeiro; depois de alguns anos voltará a atacá-lo com um exército enorme e bem equipado.

`And the king of the north hath turned back, and hath caused a multitude to stand, greater than the first, and at the end of the times a second time he doth certainly come in with a great force, and with much substance;

14 “ Naquela época muitos se rebelarão contra o rei do sul. E os homens violentos do povo a que você pertence se revoltarão para cumprirem esta visão, mas não terão sucesso.

and in those times many do stand up against the king of the south, and sons of the destroyers of thy people do lift themselves up to establish the vision -- and they have stumbled.

15 E ntão o rei do norte virá, construirá rampas de cerco e conquistará uma cidade fortificada. As forças do sul serão incapazes de resistir; mesmo as suas melhores tropas não terão forças para resistir.

`And the king of the north cometh in, and poureth out a mount, and hath captured fenced cities; and the arms of the south do not stand, nor the people of his choice, yea, there is no power to stand.

16 O invasor fará o que bem entender; ninguém conseguirá detê-lo. Ele se instalará na Terra Magnífica e terá poder para destruí-la.

And he who is coming unto him doth according to his will, and there is none standing before him; and he standeth in the desirable land, and wholly in his hand.

17 V irá com o poder de todo o seu reino e fará uma aliança com o rei do sul. Ele lhe dará uma filha em casamento a fim de derrubar o reino, mas o seu plano não terá sucesso e em nada o ajudará.

And he setteth his face to go in with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; and he hath wrought, and the daughter of women he giveth to him, to corrupt her; and she doth not stand, nor is for him.

18 E ntão ele voltará a atenção para as regiões costeiras e se apossará de muitas delas, mas um comandante reagirá com arrogância à arrogância dele e lhe dará fim.

`And he turneth back his face to the isles, and hath captured many; and a prince hath caused his reproach of himself to cease; without his reproach he turneth back to him.

19 D epois disso ele se dirigirá para as fortalezas de sua própria terra, mas tropeçará e cairá, para nunca mais aparecer.

And he turneth back his face to the strongholds of his land, and hath stumbled and fallen, and is not found.

20 “ Seu sucessor enviará um cobrador de impostos para manter o esplendor real. Contudo, em poucos anos ele será destruído, sem necessidade de ira nem de combate.

`And stood up on his station hath causing an exactor to pass over the honour of the kingdom, and in a few days he is destroyed, and not in anger, nor in battle.

21 “ Ele será sucedido por um ser desprezível, a quem não tinha sido dada a honra da realeza. Este invadirá o reino quando o povo se sentir seguro, e se apoderará do reino por meio de intrigas.

`And stood up on his station hath a despicable one, and they have not given unto him the honour of the kingdom, and he hath come in quietly, and hath strengthened the kingdom by flatteries.

22 E ntão um exército avassalador será arrasado diante dele; tanto o exército como um príncipe da aliança serão destruídos.

And the arms of the flood are overflowed from before him, and are broken; and also the leader of the covenant.

23 D epois de um acordo feito com ele, agirá traiçoeiramente, e com apenas um pequeno grupo chegará ao poder.

And after they join themselves unto him, he worketh deceit, and hath increased, and hath been strong by a few of the nation.

24 Q uando as províncias mais ricas se sentirem seguras, ele as invadirá e realizará o que nem seus pais nem seus antepassados conseguiram: distribuirá despojos, saques e riquezas entre seus seguidores. Ele tramará a tomada de fortalezas, mas só por algum tempo.

Peaceably even into the fertile places of the province He cometh, and he hath done that which his fathers did not, nor his fathers' fathers; prey, and spoil, and substance, to them he scattereth, and against fenced places he deviseth his devices, even for a time.

25 “ Com um grande exército juntará suas forças e sua coragem contra o rei do sul. O rei do sul guerreará mobilizando um exército grande e poderoso, mas não conseguirá resistir por causa dos golpes tramados contra ele.

`And he stirreth up his power and his heart against the king of the south with a great force, and the king of the south stirreth himself up to battle with a very great and mighty force, and standeth not, for they devise devices against him,

26 M esmo os que estiverem sendo alimentados pelo rei tentarão destruí-lo; seu exército será arrasado, e muitos cairão em combate.

and those eating his portion of food destroy him, and his force overfloweth, and fallen have many wounded.

27 O s dois reis, com seu coração inclinado para o mal, sentarão à mesma mesa e mentirão um para o outro, mas sem resultado, pois o fim só virá no tempo determinado.

`And both of the kings' hearts to do evil, and at one table they speak lies, and it doth not prosper, for yet the end at a time appointed.

28 O rei do norte voltará para a sua terra com grande riqueza, mas o seu coração estará voltado contra a santa aliança. Ele empreenderá ação contra ela e depois voltará para a sua terra.

And he turneth back his land with great substance, and his heart against the holy covenant, and he hath wrought, and turned back to his land.

29 “ No tempo determinado ele invadirá de novo o sul, mas desta vez o resultado será diferente do anterior.

At the appointed time he turneth back, and hath come against the south, and it is not as the former, and as the latter.

30 N avios das regiões da costa ocidental se oporão a ele, e ele perderá o ânimo. Então despejará sua fúria contra a santa aliança e, voltando, tratará com bondade aqueles que abandonarem a santa aliança.

And ships of Chittim have come in against him, and he hath been pained, and hath turned back, and hath been insolent toward the holy covenant, and hath wrought, and turned back, and he understandeth concerning those forsaking the holy covenant.

31 “ Suas forças armadas se levantarão para profanar a fortaleza e o templo, acabarão com o sacrifício diário e colocarão no templo o sacrilégio terrível.

And strong ones out of him stand up, and have polluted the sanctuary, the stronghold, and have turned aside the continual, and appointed the desolating abomination.

32 C om lisonjas corromperá aqueles que tiverem violado a aliança, mas o povo que conhece o seu Deus resistirá com firmeza.

And those acting wickedly the covenant, he defileth by flatteries; and the people knowing their God are strong, and have wrought.

33 “ Aqueles que são sábios instruirão a muitos, mas por certo período cairão à espada e serão queimados, capturados e saqueados.

And the teachers of the people give understanding to many; and they have stumbled by sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil -- days.

34 Q uando caírem, receberão uma pequena ajuda, e muitos que não são sinceros se juntarão a eles.

And in their stumbling, they are helped -- a little help, and joined to them have been many with flatteries.

35 A lguns dos sábios tropeçarão para que sejam refinados, purificados e alvejados até a época do fim, pois isso só acontecerá no tempo determinado. O Rei Arrogante

And some of the teachers do stumble for refining by them, and for purifying, and for making white -- till the end of the time, for yet for a time appointed.

36 “ O rei fará o que bem entender. Ele se exaltará e se engrandecerá acima de todos os deuses e dirá coisas jamais ouvidas contra o Deus dos deuses. Ele terá sucesso até que o tempo da ira se complete, pois o que foi decidido irá acontecer.

`And the king hath done according to his will, and exalteth himself, and magnifieth himself against every god, and against the God of gods he speaketh wonderful things, and hath prospered till the indignation hath been completed, for that which is determined hath been done.

37 E le não terá consideração pelos deuses dos seus antepassados nem pelo deus preferido das mulheres, nem por deus algum, mas se exaltará acima deles todos.

And unto the God of his fathers he doth not attend, nor to the desire of women, yea, to any god he doth not attend, for against all he magnifieth himself.

38 E m seu lugar adorará um deus das fortalezas; um deus desconhecido de seus antepassados ele honrará com ouro e prata, com pedras preciosas e presentes caros.

And to the god of strongholds, on his station, he giveth honour; yea, to a god whom his fathers knew not he giveth honour, with gold, and with silver, and with precious stone, and with desirable things.

39 A tacará as fortalezas mais poderosas com a ajuda de um deus estrangeiro e dará grande honra àqueles que o reconhecerem. Ele os fará governantes sobre muitos e distribuirá a terra, mas a um preço elevado.

And he hath dealt in the fortresses of the strongholds with a strange god whom he hath acknowledged; he multiplieth honour, and hath caused them to rule over many, and the ground he apportioneth at a price.

40 “ No tempo do fim o rei do sul se envolverá em combate, e o rei do norte o atacará com carros e cavaleiros e uma grande frota de navios. Ele invadirá muitos países e avançará por eles como uma inundação.

`And at the time of the end, push himself forward with him doth a king of the south, and storm against him doth a king of the north, with chariot, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he hath come in to the lands, and hath overflowed, and passed over,

41 T ambém invadirá a Terra Magnífica. Muitos países cairão, mas Edom, Moabe e os líderes de Amom ficarão livres da sua mão.

and hath come into the desirable land, and many do stumble, and these escape from his hand: Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the sons of Ammon.

42 E le estenderá o seu poder sobre muitos países; o Egito não escapará,

`And he sendeth forth his hand upon the lands, and the land of Egypt is not for an escape;

43 p ois esse rei terá o controle dos tesouros de ouro e de prata e de todas as riquezas do Egito; os líbios e os núbios a ele se submeterão.

and he hath ruled over treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the desirable things of Egypt, and Lubim and Cushim at his steps.

44 M as, informações provenientes do leste e do norte o deixarão alarmado, e irado partirá para destruir e aniquilar muito povo.

`And reports trouble him out of the east and out of the north, and he hath gone forth in great fury to destroy, and to devote many to destruction;

45 A rmará suas tendas reais entre os mares, no belo e santo monte. No entanto, ele chegará ao seu fim, e ninguém o socorrerá.

and he planteth the tents of his palace between the seas and the holy desirable mountain, and hath come unto his end, and there is no helper to him.
