1 N aquela ocasião, alguns dos que estavam presentes contaram a Jesus que Pilatos misturara o sangue de alguns galileus com os sacrifícios deles.

And there were present certain at that time, telling him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate did mingle with their sacrifices;

2 J esus respondeu: “Vocês pensam que esses galileus eram mais pecadores que todos os outros, por terem sofrido dessa maneira?

and Jesus answering said to them, `Think ye that these Galileans became sinners beyond all the Galileans, because they have suffered such things?

3 E u lhes digo que não! Mas se não se arrependerem, todos vocês também perecerão.

No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye even so shall perish.

4 O u vocês pensam que aqueles dezoito que morreram, quando caiu sobre eles a torre de Siloé, eram mais culpados do que todos os outros habitantes de Jerusalém?

`Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; think ye that these became debtors beyond all men who are dwelling in Jerusalem?

5 E u lhes digo que não! Mas se não se arrependerem, todos vocês também perecerão”.

No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye in like manner shall perish.'

6 E ntão contou esta parábola: “Um homem tinha uma figueira plantada em sua vinha. Foi procurar fruto nela, e não achou nenhum.

And he spake this simile: `A certain one had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit in it, and he did not find;

7 P or isso disse ao que cuidava da vinha: ‘Já faz três anos que venho procurar fruto nesta figueira e não acho. Corte-a! Por que deixá-la inutilizar a terra?’

and he said unto the vine-dresser, Lo, three years I come seeking fruit in this fig-tree, and do not find, cut it off, why also the ground doth it render useless?

8 “ Respondeu o homem: ‘Senhor, deixe-a por mais um ano, e eu cavarei ao redor dela e a adubarei.

`And he answering saith to him, Sir, suffer it also this year, till that I may dig about it, and cast in dung;

9 S e der fruto no ano que vem, muito bem! Se não, corte-a’”. Uma Mulher Curada no Sábado

and if indeed it may bear fruit --; and if not so, thereafter thou shalt cut it off.'

10 C erto sábado Jesus estava ensinando numa das sinagogas,

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath,

11 e ali estava uma mulher que tinha um espírito que a mantinha doente havia dezoito anos. Ela andava encurvada e de forma alguma podia endireitar-se.

and lo, there was a woman having a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bowed together, and not able to bend back at all,

12 A o vê-la, Jesus chamou-a à frente e lhe disse: “Mulher, você está livre da sua doença”.

and Jesus having seen her, did call near, and said to her, `Woman, thou hast been loosed from thy infirmity;'

13 E ntão lhe impôs as mãos; e imediatamente ela se endireitou, e passou a louvar a Deus.

and he laid on her hands, and presently she was set upright, and was glorifying God.

14 I ndignado porque Jesus havia curado no sábado, o dirigente da sinagoga disse ao povo: “Há seis dias em que se deve trabalhar. Venham para ser curados nesses dias, e não no sábado”.

And the chief of the synagogue answering -- much displeased that on the sabbath Jesus healed -- said to the multitude, `Six days there are in which it behoveth to be working; in these, then, coming, be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.'

15 O Senhor lhe respondeu: “Hipócritas! Cada um de vocês não desamarra no sábado o seu boi ou jumento do estábulo e o leva dali para dar-lhe água?

Then the Lord answered him and said, `Hypocrite, doth not each of you on the sabbath loose his ox or ass from the stall, and having led away, doth water ?

16 E ntão, esta mulher, uma filha de Abraão a quem Satanás mantinha presa por dezoito longos anos, não deveria no dia de sábado ser libertada daquilo que a prendia?”

and this one, being a daughter of Abraham, whom the Adversary bound, lo, eighteen years, did it not behove to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day?'

17 T endo dito isso, todos os seus oponentes ficaram envergonhados, mas o povo se alegrava com todas as maravilhas que ele estava fazendo. As Parábolas do Grão de Mostarda e do Fermento

And he saying these things, all who were opposed to him were being ashamed, and all the multitude were rejoicing over all the glorious things that are being done by him.

18 E ntão Jesus perguntou: “Com que se parece o Reino de Deus? Com que o compararei?

And he said, `To what is the reign of God like? and to what shall I liken it?

19 É como um grão de mostarda que um homem semeou em sua horta. Ele cresceu e se tornou uma árvore, e as aves do céu fizeram ninhos em seus ramos”.

It is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did cast into his garden, and it increased, and came to a great tree, and the fowls of the heavens did rest in its branches.'

20 M ais uma vez ele perguntou: “Com que compararei o Reino de Deus?

And again he said, `To what shall I liken the reign of God?

21 É como o fermento que uma mulher misturou com uma grande quantidade de farinha, e toda a massa ficou fermentada”. A Porta Estreita

It is like leaven, which a woman, having taken, did hide in three measures of meal, till that all was leavened.'

22 D epois Jesus foi pelas cidades e povoados e ensinava, prosseguindo em direção a Jerusalém.

And he was going through cities and villages, teaching, and making progress toward Jerusalem;

23 A lguém lhe perguntou: “Senhor, serão poucos os salvos?” Ele lhes disse:

and a certain one said to him, `Sir, are those saved few?' and he said unto them,

24 “ Esforcem-se para entrar pela porta estreita, porque eu lhes digo que muitos tentarão entrar e não conseguirão.

`Be striving to go in through the straight gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to go in, and shall not be able;

25 Q uando o dono da casa se levantar e fechar a porta, vocês ficarão do lado de fora, batendo e pedindo: ‘Senhor, abre-nos a porta’. “Ele, porém, responderá: ‘Não os conheço, nem sei de onde são vocês’.

from the time the master of the house may have risen up, and may have shut the door, and ye may begin without to stand, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, lord, open to us, and he answering shall say to you, I have not known you whence ye are,

26 “ Então vocês dirão: ‘Comemos e bebemos contigo, e ensinaste em nossas ruas’.

then ye may begin to say, We did eat before thee, and did drink, and in our broad places thou didst teach;

27 “ Mas ele responderá: ‘Não os conheço, nem sei de onde são vocês. Afastem-se de mim, todos vocês, que praticam o mal!’

and he shall say, I say to you, I have not known you whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of the unrighteousness.

28 “ Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes, quando vocês virem Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, e todos os profetas no Reino de Deus, mas vocês excluídos.

`There shall be there the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth, when ye may see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the reign of God, and yourselves being cast out without;

29 P essoas virão do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul, e ocuparão os seus lugares à mesa no Reino de Deus.

and they shall come from east and west, and from north and south, and shall recline in the reign of God,

30 D e fato, há últimos que serão primeiros, e primeiros que serão últimos”. O Lamento Profético sobre Jerusalém

and lo, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.'

31 N aquela mesma hora alguns fariseus aproximaram-se de Jesus e lhe disseram: “Saia e vá embora daqui, pois Herodes quer matá-lo”.

On that day there came near certain Pharisees, saying to him, `Go forth, and be going on hence, for Herod doth wish to kill thee;'

32 E le respondeu: “Vão dizer àquela raposa: Expulsarei demônios e curarei o povo hoje e amanhã, e no terceiro dia estarei pronto.

and he said to them, `Having gone, say to this fox, Lo, I cast forth demons, and perfect cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third I am being perfected;

33 M as, preciso prosseguir hoje, amanhã e depois de amanhã, pois certamente nenhum profeta deve morrer fora de Jerusalém!

but it behoveth me to-day, and to-morrow, and the following, to go on, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish out of Jerusalem.

34 “ Jerusalém, Jerusalém, você, que mata os profetas e apedreja os que lhe são enviados! Quantas vezes eu quis reunir os seus filhos, como a galinha reúne os seus pintinhos debaixo das suas asas, mas vocês não quiseram!

`Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her, how often did I will to gather together thy children, as a hen her brood under the wings, and ye did not will.

35 E is que a casa de vocês ficará deserta. Eu lhes digo que vocês não me verão mais até que digam: ‘Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor’ ”.

`Lo, your house is being left to you desolate, and verily I say to you -- ye may not see me, till it may come, when ye may say, Blessed he who is coming in the name of the Lord.'
