1 “ Eu lhes asseguro que aquele que não entra no aprisco das ovelhas pela porta, mas sobe por outro lugar, é ladrão e assaltante.

`Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is not entering through the door to the fold of the sheep, but is going up from another side, that one is a thief and a robber;

2 A quele que entra pela porta é o pastor das ovelhas.

and he who is entering through the door is shepherd of the sheep;

3 O porteiro abre-lhe a porta, e as ovelhas ouvem a sua voz. Ele chama as suas ovelhas pelo nome e as leva para fora.

to this one the doorkeeper doth open, and the sheep hear his voice, and his own sheep he doth call by name, and doth lead them forth;

4 D epois de conduzir para fora todas as suas ovelhas, vai adiante delas, e estas o seguem, porque conhecem a sua voz.

and when his own sheep he may put forth, before them he goeth on, and the sheep follow him, because they have known his voice;

5 M as nunca seguirão um estranho; na verdade, fugirão dele, porque não reconhecem a voz de estranhos”.

and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they have not known the voice of strangers.'

6 J esus usou essa comparação, mas eles não compreenderam o que lhes estava falando.

This similitude spake Jesus to them, and they knew not what the things were that he was speaking to them;

7 E ntão Jesus afirmou de novo: “Digo-lhes a verdade: Eu sou a porta das ovelhas.

Jesus said therefore again to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you -- I am the door of the sheep;

8 T odos os que vieram antes de mim eram ladrões e assaltantes, mas as ovelhas não os ouviram.

all, as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them;

9 E u sou a porta; quem entra por mim será salvo. Entrará e sairá, e encontrará pastagem.

I am the door, through me if any one may come in, he shall be saved, and he shall come in, and go out, and find pasture.

10 O ladrão vem apenas para roubar, matar e destruir; eu vim para que tenham vida, e a tenham plenamente.

`The thief doth not come, except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and may have abundantly.

11 “ Eu sou o bom pastor. O bom pastor dá a sua vida pelas ovelhas.

`I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd his life layeth down for the sheep;

12 O assalariado não é o pastor a quem as ovelhas pertencem. Assim, quando vê que o lobo vem, abandona as ovelhas e foge. Então o lobo ataca o rebanho e o dispersa.

and the hireling, and not being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, doth behold the wolf coming, and doth leave the sheep, and doth flee; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep;

13 E le foge porque é assalariado e não se importa com as ovelhas.

and the hireling doth flee because he is an hireling, and is not caring for the sheep.

14 “ Eu sou o bom pastor; conheço as minhas ovelhas, e elas me conhecem,

`I am the good shepherd, and I know my, and am known by mine,

15 a ssim como o Pai me conhece e eu conheço o Pai; e dou a minha vida pelas ovelhas.

according as the Father doth know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep,

16 T enho outras ovelhas que não são deste aprisco. É necessário que eu as conduza também. Elas ouvirão a minha voz, e haverá um só rebanho e um só pastor.

and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behoveth me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.

17 P or isso é que meu Pai me ama, porque eu dou a minha vida para retomá-la.

`Because of this doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it;

18 N inguém a tira de mim, mas eu a dou por minha espontânea vontade. Tenho autoridade para dá-la e para retomá-la. Esta ordem recebi de meu Pai”.

no one doth take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'

19 D iante dessas palavras, os judeus ficaram outra vez divididos.

Therefore, again, there came a division among the Jews, because of these words,

20 M uitos deles diziam: “Ele está endemoninhado e enlouqueceu. Por que ouvi-lo?”

and many of them said, `He hath a demon, and is mad, why do ye hear him?'

21 M as outros diziam: “Essas palavras não são de um endemoninhado. Pode um demônio abrir os olhos dos cegos?” A Incredulidade dos Judeus

others said, `These sayings are not those of a demoniac; is a demon able blind men's eyes to open?'

22 C elebrava-se a festa da Dedicação, em Jerusalém. Era inverno,

And the dedication in Jerusalem came, and it was winter,

23 e Jesus estava no templo, caminhando pelo Pórtico de Salomão.

and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the porch of Solomon,

24 O s judeus reuniram-se ao redor dele e perguntaram: “Até quando nos deixará em suspense? Se é você o Cristo, diga-nos abertamente”.

the Jews, therefore, came round about him, and said to him, `Till when our soul dost thou hold in suspense? if thou art the Christ, tell us freely.'

25 J esus respondeu: “Eu já lhes disse, mas vocês não crêem. As obras que eu realizo em nome de meu Pai falam por mim,

Jesus answered them, `I told you, and ye do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me;

26 m as vocês não crêem, porque não são minhas ovelhas.

but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep,

27 A s minhas ovelhas ouvem a minha voz; eu as conheço, e elas me seguem.

according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me,

28 E u lhes dou a vida eterna, e elas jamais perecerão; ninguém as poderá arrancar da minha mão.

and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish -- to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;

29 M eu Pai, que as deu para mim, é maior do que todos; ninguém as pode arrancar da mão de meu Pai.

my Father, who hath given to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of the hand of my Father;

30 E u e o Pai somos um”.

I and the Father are one.'

31 N ovamente os judeus pegaram pedras para apedrejá-lo,

Therefore, again, did the Jews take up stones that they may stone him;

32 m as Jesus lhes disse: “Eu lhes mostrei muitas boas obras da parte do Pai. Por qual delas vocês querem me apedrejar?”

Jesus answered them, `Many good works did I shew you from my Father; because of which work of them do ye stone me?'

33 R esponderam os judeus: “Não vamos apedrejá-lo por nenhuma boa obra, mas pela blasfêmia, porque você é um simples homem e se apresenta como Deus”.

The Jews answered him, saying, `For a good work we do not stone thee, but for evil speaking, and because thou, being a man, dost make thyself God.'

34 J esus lhes respondeu: “Não está escrito na Lei de vocês: ‘Eu disse: Vocês são deuses’ ?

Jesus answered them, `Is it not having been written in your law: I said, ye are gods?

35 S e ele chamou ‘deuses’ àqueles a quem veio a palavra de Deus (e a Escritura não pode ser anulada),

if them he did call gods unto whom the word of God came, (and the Writing is not able to be broken,)

36 q ue dizer a respeito daquele a quem o Pai santificou e enviou ao mundo? Então, por que vocês me acusam de blasfêmia porque eu disse: Sou Filho de Deus?

of him whom the Father did sanctify, and send to the world, do ye say -- Thou speakest evil, because I said, Son of God I am?

37 S e eu não realizo as obras do meu Pai, não creiam em mim.

if I do not the works of my Father, do not believe me;

38 M as se as realizo, mesmo que não creiam em mim, creiam nas obras, para que possam saber e entender que o Pai está em mim, e eu no Pai”.

and if I do, even if me ye may not believe, the works believe, that ye may know and may believe that in me the Father, and I in Him.'

39 O utra vez tentaram prendê-lo, mas ele se livrou das mãos deles.

Therefore were they seeking again to seize him, and he went forth out of their hand,

40 E ntão Jesus atravessou novamente o Jordão e foi para o lugar onde João batizava nos primeiros dias do seu ministério. Ali ficou,

and went away again to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John was at first baptizing, and remained there,

41 e muita gente foi até onde ele estava, dizendo: “Embora João nunca tenha realizado um sinal miraculoso, tudo o que ele disse a respeito deste homem era verdade”.

and many came unto him, and said -- `John, indeed, did no sign, and all things, as many as John said about this one were true;'

42 E ali muitos creram em Jesus.

and many did believe in him there.
