1 A ssim diz o Senhor: “Desça ao palácio do rei de Judá e proclame ali esta mensagem:

Thus said Jehovah, `Go down the house of the king of Judah, and thou hast spoken there this word, and hast said,

2 O uve a palavra do Senhor, ó rei de Judá, tu que te assentas no trono de Davi; tu, teus conselheiros, e teu povo, que passa por estas portas”.

Hear a word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, who art sitting on the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people, who are coming in at these gates,

3 A ssim diz o Senhor: “Administrem a justiça e o direito: livrem o explorado das mãos do opressor. Não oprimam nem maltratem o estrangeiro, o órfão ou a viúva; nem derramem sangue inocente neste lugar.

Thus said Jehovah: Do ye judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, ye do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood ye do not shed in this place.

4 P orque, se vocês tiverem o cuidado de cumprir essas ordens, então os reis que se assentarem no trono de Davi entrarão pelas portas deste palácio em carruagens e cavalos, em companhia de seus conselheiros e de seu povo.

For, if ye certainly do this thing, Then come in by the gates of this house Have kings sitting for David on his throne, Riding on chariot, and on horses, He, and his servants, and his people.

5 M as se vocês desobedecerem a essas ordens”, declara o Senhor, “juro por mim mesmo que este palácio ficará deserto”.

And if ye do not hear these words, By myself I have sworn -- an affirmation of Jehovah, That this house is for a desolation.

6 P orque assim diz o Senhor a respeito do palácio real de Judá: “Apesar de você ser para mim como Gileade e como o topo do Líbano, certamente farei de você um deserto, uma cidade desabitada.

For thus said Jehovah, Concerning the house of the king of Judah: Gilead thou to Me -- head of Lebanon, If not -- I make thee a wilderness, Cities not inhabited.

7 P repararei destruidores contra você, cada um com as suas armas; eles cortarão o melhor dos seus cedros e o lançarão ao fogo.

And I have separated for thee destroyers, Each with his weapons, And they have cut down the choice of thy cedars, And have cast them on the fire.

8 “ De numerosas nações muitos passarão por esta cidade e perguntarão uns aos outros: ‘Por que o Senhor fez uma coisa dessas a esta grande cidade?’

And many nations have passed by this city, And they have said, each to his neighbour, For what hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?

9 E lhes responderão: ‘Foi porque abandonaram a aliança do Senhor, do seu Deus, e adoraram outros deuses e prestaram-lhes culto’”.

And they have said, `Because that they have forsaken The covenant of Jehovah their God, And bow themselves to other gods, and serve them.'

10 N ão chorem pelo rei morto nem lamentem sua perda. Chorem amargamente, porém, por aquele que está indo para o exílio, porque jamais voltará nem verá sua terra natal.

Ye do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep ye sore for the traveller, For he doth not return again, Nor hath he seen the land of his birth.

11 P orque assim diz o Senhor acerca de Salum, rei de Judá, sucessor de seu pai Josias, que partiu deste lugar: “Ele jamais voltará.

For thus said Jehovah concerning Shallum son of Josiah king of Judah, who is reigning instead of Josiah his father, who hath gone forth from this place: He doth not turn back hither again;

12 M orrerá no lugar para onde o levaram prisioneiro; não verá novamente esta terra.

For in the place whither they have removed him he dieth, And this land he doth not see again.

13 “ Ai daquele que constrói o seu palácio por meios corruptos, seus aposentos, pela injustiça, fazendo os seus compatriotas trabalharem por nada, sem pagar-lhes o devido salário.

Wo to him who is building his house by unrighteousness, And his upper chambers by injustice, On his neighbour he layeth service for nought, And his wage he doth not give to him.

14 E le diz: ‘Construirei para mim um grande palácio, com aposentos espaçosos’. Faz amplas janelas, reveste o palácio de cedro e pinta-o de vermelho.

Who is saying, `I build for myself a large house, And airy upper chambers,' And he hath cut out for himself its windows, Ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermillion.

15 “ Você acha que acumular cedro faz de você um rei? O seu pai não teve comida e bebida? Ele fez o que era justo e certo, e tudo ia bem com ele.

Dost thou reign, because thou art fretting thyself in cedar? Thy father -- did he not eat and drink? Yea, he did judgment and righteousness, Then well with him.

16 E le defendeu a causa do pobre e do necessitado, e, assim, tudo corria bem. Não é isso que significa conhecer-me?”, declara o Senhor.

He decided the cause of the poor and needy, Then well -- is it not to know Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.

17 “ Mas você não vê nem pensa noutra coisa além de lucro desonesto, derramar sangue inocente, opressão e extorsão”.

But thine eyes and thy heart are not, Except on thy dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence.

18 P ortanto, assim diz o Senhor a respeito de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá: “Não se lamentarão por ele, clamando: ‘Ah, meu irmão!’ ou ‘Ah, minha irmã!’ Nem se lamentarão, clamando: ‘Ah, meu senhor!’ ou ‘Ah, sua majestade!’

Therefore, thus said Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: They do not lament for him, Ah, my brother, and Ah, sister, They do not lament for him, Ah, lord, and Ah, his honour.

19 E le terá o enterro de um jumento: arrastado e lançado fora das portas de Jerusalém!

The burial of an ass -- he is buried, Dragged and cast out thence to the gates of Jerusalem.

20 “ Jerusalém, suba ao Líbano e clame, seja ouvida a sua voz em Basã, clame desde Abarim, pois todos os seus aliados foram esmagados.

Go up to Lebanon, and cry, And in Bashan give forth thy voice, And cry from Abarim, For destroyed have been all loving thee.

21 E u a adverti quando você se sentia segura, mas você não quis ouvir-me. Esse foi sempre o seu procedimento, pois desde a sua juventude você não me obedece.

I have spoken unto thee in thine ease, Thou hast said, `I do not hearken,' This thy way from thy youth, For thou hast not hearkened to My voice.

22 O vento conduzirá para longe todos os governantes que conduzem você, e os seus aliados irão para o exílio. Então você será envergonhada e humilhada por causa de todas as suas maldades.

All thy friends consume doth wind, And thy lovers into captivity do go, Surely then thou art ashamed, And hast blushed for all thy wickedness.

23 V ocê, que está entronizada no Líbano, que está aninhada em prédios de cedro, como você gemerá quando lhe vierem as dores de parto, dores como as de uma mulher que está para dar à luz!

O dweller in Lebanon, making a nest among cedars, How gracious hast thou been when pangs come to thee, Pain -- as of a travailing woman.

24 “ Juro pelo meu nome”, diz o Senhor, “que ainda que você, Joaquim, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, fosse um anel de selar em minha mão direita, eu o arrancaria.

I live -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Though Coniah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah Were a seal on My right hand, Surely thence I draw thee away,

25 E u o entregarei nas mãos daqueles que querem tirar a sua vida; daqueles que você teme, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e dos babilônios.

And I have given thee into the hand of those seeking thy life, And into hands of which thou art afraid, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldeans.

26 E xpulsarei você e sua mãe, a mulher que lhe deu à luz, para um outro país, onde vocês não nasceram, e no qual ambos morrerão.

And I have cast thee, And thy mother who bore thee, unto another country, Where ye were not born, and there do ye die.

27 J amais retornarão à terra para a qual anseiam voltar”.

And to the land whither they are lifting up their soul to return, Thither they do not return.

28 É Joaquim um vaso desprezível e quebrado, um utensílio que ninguém quer? Por que ele e os seus descendentes serão expulsos e lançados num país que não conhecem?

A grief -- a despised broken thing -- is this man Coniah? A vessel in which there is no pleasure? Wherefore have they been cast up and down, He and his seed, Yea, they were cast on to a land that they knew not?

29 Ó terra, terra, terra, ouça a palavra do Senhor!

Earth, earth, earth, hear a word of Jehovah,

30 A ssim diz o Senhor: “Registrem esse homem como homem sem filhos. Ele não prosperará em toda a sua vida; nenhum dos seus descendentes prosperará nem se assentará no trono de Davi nem governará em Judá.

Thus said Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man -- he doth not prosper in his days, For none of his seed doth prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling again in Judah!
