1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: “Vá ao faraó, pois tornei obstinado o coração dele e o de seus conselheiros, a fim de realizar estes meus prodígios entre eles,

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go in unto Pharaoh, for I have declared hard his heart, and the heart of his servants, so that I set these My signs in their midst,

2 p ara que você possa contar a seus filhos e netos como zombei dos egípcios e como realizei meus milagres entre eles. Assim vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor ”.

and so that thou recountest in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, that which I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have set among them, and ye have known that I Jehovah.'

3 D irigiram-se, pois, Moisés e Arão ao faraó e lhe disseram: “Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus dos hebreus: ‘Até quando você se recusará a humilhar-se perante mim? Deixe ir o meu povo, para que me preste culto.

And Moses cometh in -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and they say unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, God of the Hebrews, Until when hast thou refused to be humbled at My presence? send My people away, and they serve Me,

4 S e você não quiser deixá-lo ir, farei vir gafanhotos sobre o seu território amanhã.

for if thou art refusing to send My people away, lo, I am bringing in to-morrow the locust into thy border,

5 E les cobrirão a face da terra até não se poder enxergar o solo. Devorarão o pouco que ainda lhes restou da tempestade de granizo e todas as árvores que estiverem brotando nos campos.

and it hath covered the eye of the land, and none is able to see the land, and it hath eaten the remnant of that which is escaped, which is left to you from the hail, and it hath eaten every tree which is springing for you out of the field;

6 E ncherão os seus palácios e as casas de todos os seus conselheiros e de todos os egípcios: algo que os seus pais e os seus antepassados jamais viram, desde o dia em que se fixaram nesta terra até o dia de hoje’”. A seguir Moisés virou as costas e saiu da presença do faraó.

and they have filled thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, which neither thy fathers nor thy father's fathers have seen, since the day of their being on the ground unto this day,' -- and he turneth and goeth out from Pharaoh.

7 O s conselheiros do faraó lhe disseram: “Até quando este homem será uma ameaça para nós? Deixa os homens irem prestar culto ao Senhor, o Deus deles. Não percebes que o Egito está arruinado?”

And the servants of Pharaoh say unto him, `Until when doth this become a snare to us? send the men away, and they serve Jehovah their God; knowest thou not yet that Egypt hath perished?'

8 E ntão Moisés e Arão foram trazidos de volta à presença do faraó, que lhes disse: “Vão e prestem culto ao Senhor, o seu Deus. Mas, digam-me, quem irá?”

And Moses is brought back -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and he saith unto them, `Go, serve Jehovah your God; -- who and who those going?'

9 M oisés respondeu: “Temos que levar todos: os jovens e os velhos, os nossos filhos e as nossas filhas, as nossas ovelhas e os nossos bois, porque vamos celebrar uma festa ao Senhor ”.

And Moses saith, `With our young ones, and with our aged ones, we go, with our sons, and with our daughters, with our flock, and our herd, we go, for we have a festival to Jehovah.'

10 D isse-lhes o faraó: “Vocês vão mesmo precisar do Senhor quando eu deixá-los ir com as mulheres e crianças! É claro que vocês estão com más intenções.

And he saith unto them, `Be it so, Jehovah with you when I send you and your infants away; see -- for evil before your faces;

11 D e forma alguma! Só os homens podem ir prestar culto ao Senhor, como vocês têm pedido”. E Moisés e Arão foram expulsos da presença do faraó.

not so! go now, ye who men, and serve Jehovah, for that ye are seeking;' and casteth them out from the presence of Pharaoh.

12 M as o Senhor disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão sobre o Egito para que os gafanhotos venham sobre a terra e devorem toda a vegetação, tudo o que foi deixado pelo granizo”.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand against the land of Egypt for the locust, and it goeth up against the land of Egypt, and doth eat every herb of the land -- all that the hail hath left.'

13 M oisés estendeu a vara sobre o Egito, e o Senhor fez soprar sobre a terra um vento oriental durante todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite. Pela manhã, o vento havia trazido os gafanhotos,

And Moses stretcheth out his rod against the land of Egypt, and Jehovah hath led an east wind over the land all that day, and all the night; the morning hath been, and the east wind hath lifted up the locust.

14 o s quais invadiram todo o Egito e desceram em grande número sobre toda a sua extensão. Nunca antes houve tantos gafanhotos, nem jamais haverá.

And the locust goeth up against all the land of Egypt, and resteth in all the border of Egypt -- very grievous: before it there hath not been such a locust as it, and after it there is none such;

15 E les cobriram toda a face da terra de tal forma que ela escureceu. Devoraram tudo o que o granizo tinha deixado: toda a vegetação e todos os frutos das árvores. Não restou nada verde nas árvores nem nas plantas do campo, em toda a terra do Egito.

and it covereth the eye of all the land, and the land is darkened; and it eateth every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail hath left, and there hath not been left any green thing in the trees, or in the herb of the field, in all the land of Egypt.'

16 O faraó mandou chamar Moisés e Arão imediatamente e disse-lhes: “Pequei contra o Senhor, o seu Deus, e contra vocês!

And Pharaoh hasteth to call for Moses and for Aaron, and saith, `I have sinned against Jehovah your God, and against you,

17 A gora perdoem ainda esta vez o meu pecado e orem ao Senhor, o seu Deus, para que leve esta praga mortal para longe de mim”.

and now, bear with, I pray you, my sin, only this time, and make ye supplication to Jehovah your God, that He turn aside from off me only this death.'

18 M oisés saiu da presença do faraó e orou ao Senhor.

And he goeth out from Pharaoh, and maketh supplication unto Jehovah,

19 E o Senhor fez soprar com muito mais força o vento ocidental, e este envolveu os gafanhotos e os lançou no mar Vermelho. Não restou um gafanhoto sequer em toda a extensão do Egito.

and Jehovah turneth a very strong sea wind, and it lifteth up the locust, and bloweth it into the Red Sea -- there hath not been left one locust in all the border of Egypt;

20 M as o Senhor endureceu o coração do faraó, e ele não deixou que os israelitas saíssem. A Nona Praga: Trevas

and Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not sent the sons of Israel away.

21 O Senhor disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão para o céu, e trevas cobrirão o Egito, trevas tais que poderão ser apalpadas”.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness over the land of Egypt, and the darkness is felt.'

22 M oisés estendeu a mão para o céu, e por três dias houve densas trevas em todo o Egito.

And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness -- thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;

23 N inguém pôde ver ninguém, nem sair do seu lugar durante três dias. Todavia, todos os israelitas tinham luz nos locais em que habitavam.

they have not seen one another, and none hath risen from his place three days; and to all the sons of Israel there hath been light in their dwellings.'

24 E ntão o faraó mandou chamar Moisés e disse: “Vão e prestem culto ao Senhor. Deixem somente as ovelhas e os bois; as mulheres e as crianças podem ir”.

And Pharaoh calleth unto Moses and saith, `Go ye, serve Jehovah, only your flock and your herd are stayed, your infants also go with you;'

25 M as Moisés contestou: “Tu mesmo nos darás os animais para os nossos sacrifícios e holocaustos que ofereceremos ao Senhor.

and Moses saith, `Thou also dost give in our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, and we have prepared for Jehovah our God;

26 A lém disso, os nossos rebanhos também irão conosco; nem um casco de animal será deixado. Temos que escolher alguns deles para prestar culto ao Senhor, o nosso Deus, e, enquanto não chegarmos ao local, não saberemos quais animais sacrificaremos”.

and also our cattle doth go with us, there is not left a hoof, for from it we do take to serve Jehovah our God; and we -- we know not how we do serve Jehovah till our going thither.'

27 M as o Senhor endureceu o coração do faraó, e ele se recusou a deixá-los ir.

And Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not been willing to send them away;

28 D isse o faraó a Moisés: “Saia da minha presença! Trate de não aparecer nunca mais diante de mim! No dia em que vir a minha face, você morrerá”.

and Pharaoh saith to him, `Go from me, take heed to thyself, add not to see my face, for in the day thou seest my face thou diest;'

29 R espondeu Moisés: “Será como disseste; nunca mais verei a tua face”.

and Moses saith, `Rightly hast thou spoken, I add not any more to see thy face.'
