1 E stas foram as terras distribuídas à tribo de Manassés, filho mais velho de José. Foram entregues a Maquir, filho mais velho de Manassés. Maquir, pai de Gileade, guerreiro valente, recebeu Gileade e Basã.

And the lot is for the tribe of Manasseh (for he first-born of Joseph), for Machir first-born of Manasseh, father of Gilead, for he hath been a man of war, and his are Gilead and Bashan.

2 T ambém foram dadas terras para os clãs dos outros filhos de Manassés: Abiezer, Heleque, Asriel, Siquém, Héfer e Semida. Esses são os filhos homens de Manassés, filho de José, de acordo com os seus clãs.

And there is for the sons of Manasseh who are left, for their families; for the sons of Abiezer, and for the sons of Helek, and for the sons of Asriel, and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida; these the children of Manasseh son of Joseph -- the males -- by their families.

3 Z elofeade, porém, filho de Héfer, neto de Gileade, bisneto de Maquir, trineto de Manassés, não teve nenhum filho, somente filhas. Seus nomes eram Maalá, Noa, Hogla, Milca e Tirza.

As to Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, he hath no children except daughters, and these the names of his daughters: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah,

4 E las foram ao sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, filho de Num, e aos líderes, e disseram: “O Senhor ordenou a Moisés que nos desse uma herança entre os nossos parentes”. Josué deu-lhes então uma herança entre os irmãos de seu pai, de acordo com a ordem do Senhor.

and they draw near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, `Jehovah commanded Moses to give to us an inheritance in the midst of our brethren;' and he giveth to them, at the command of Jehovah, an inheritance in the midst of the brethren of their father.

5 A tribo de Manassés recebeu dez quinhões de terra, além de Gileade e Basã, que ficam a leste do Jordão,

And ten portions fall Manasseh, apart from the land of Gilead and Bashan, which beyond the Jordan;

6 p ois tanto as descendentes de Manassés como os filhos dele receberam herança. A terra de Gileade ficou para os outros descendentes de Manassés.

for the daughters of Manasseh have inherited an inheritance in the midst of his sons, and the land of Gilead hath been to the sons of Manasseh who are left.

7 O território de Manassés estendia-se desde Aser até Micmetá, a leste de Siquém. A fronteira ia dali para o sul, chegando até o povo que vivia em En-Tapua.

And the border of Manasseh is from Asher to Michmethah, which on the front of Shechem, and the border hath gone on unto the right, unto the inhabitants of En-Tappuah.

8 A s terras de Tapua eram de Manassés, mas a cidade de Tapua, na fronteira de Manassés, pertencia aos efraimitas.

To Manasseh hath been the land of Tappuah, and Tappuah unto the border of Manasseh is to the sons of Ephraim.

9 D epois a fronteira descia até o ribeiro de Caná. Ao sul do ribeiro havia cidades pertencentes a Efraim que ficavam em meio às cidades de Manassés, mas a fronteira de Manassés ficava ao norte do ribeiro e terminava no mar.

And the border hath come down the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook; these cities of Ephraim in the midst of the cities of Manasseh, and the border of Manasseh on the north of the brook, and its outgoings are at the sea.

10 D o lado sul a terra pertencia a Efraim; do lado norte, a Manassés. O território de Manassés chegava até o mar e alcançava Aser, ao norte, e Issacar, a leste.

Southward to Ephraim and northward to Manasseh, and the sea is his border, and in Asher they meet on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

11 E m Issacar e Aser, Manassés tinha também Bete-Seã, Ibleã e as populações de Dor, En-Dor, Taanaque e Megido, com os seus respectivos povoados. A terceira da lista, isto é, Dor, é Nafote.

And Manasseh hath in Issachar and in Asher, Beth-Shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, three counties.

12 M as os manassitas não conseguiram expulsar os habitantes dessas cidades, pois os cananeus estavam decididos a viver naquela região.

And the sons of Manasseh have not been able to occupy these cities, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in this land,

13 E ntretanto, quando os israelitas se fortaleceram, submeteram os cananeus a trabalhos forçados, mas não os expulsaram totalmente.

and it cometh to pass when the sons of Israel have been strong, that they put the Canaanite to tribute, and have not utterly dispossessed him.

14 O s descendentes de José disseram então a Josué: “Por que nos deste apenas um quinhão, uma só porção de herança? Somos um povo numeroso, e o Senhor nos tem abençoado ricamente”.

And the sons of Joseph speak with Joshua, saying, `Wherefore hast thou given to me an inheritance -- one lot and one portion, and I a numerous people? hitherto hath Jehovah blessed me.'

15 R espondeu Josué: “Se vocês são tão numerosos, e se os montes de Efraim têm pouco espaço para vocês, subam, entrem na floresta e limpem o terreno para vocês na terra dos ferezeus e dos refains”.

And Joshua saith unto them, `If thou a numerous people, go up for thee to the forest, then thou hast prepared for thee there, in the land of the Perizzite, and of the Rephaim, when mount Ephraim hath been narrow for thee.'

16 O s descendentes de José responderam: “Os montes não são suficientes para nós; além disso todos os cananeus que vivem na planície possuem carros de ferro, tanto os que vivem em Bete-Seã e seus povoados como os que vivem no vale de Jezreel”.

And the sons of Joseph say, `The hill is not found to us, and a chariot of iron with every Canaanite who is dwelling in the land of the valley -- to him who in Beth-Shean and its towns, and to him who in the valley of Jezreel.'

17 J osué, porém, disse à tribo de José, a Efraim e a Manassés: “Vocês são numerosos e poderosos. Vocês não terão apenas um quinhão.

And Joshua speaketh unto the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, `Thou a numerous people, and hast great power; thou hast not one lot,

18 O s montes cobertos de floresta serão de vocês. Limpem o terreno, e será de vocês, até os seus limites mais distantes. Embora os cananeus possuam carros de ferro e sejam fortes, vocês poderão expulsá-los”.

because the mountain is thine; because it a forest -- thou hast prepared it, and its outgoings have been thine; because thou dost dispossess the Canaanite, though it hath chariots of iron -- though it strong.'
