1 A ssim me disse o Senhor: “Vá comprar um cinto de linho e ponha-o em volta da cintura, mas não o deixe encostar na água”.

Thus said Jehovah unto me, `Go, and thou hast got for thee a girdle of linen, and hast placed it on thy loins, and into water thou dost not cause it to enter:'

2 C omprei um cinto e o pus em volta da cintura, como o Senhor me havia instruído.

and I get the girdle, according to the word of Jehovah, and I place on my loins.

3 O Senhor me dirigiu a palavra pela segunda vez, dizendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying,

4 “ Pegue o cinto que você comprou e está usando, vá agora a Perate e esconda-o ali numa fenda da rocha”.

`Take the girdle that thou hast got, that on thy loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;

5 A ssim, fui e o escondi em Perate, conforme o Senhor me havia ordenado.

and I go and hide it by Phrat, as Jehovah commanded me.

6 D epois de muitos dias, o Senhor me disse: “Vá agora a Perate e pegue o cinto que lhe ordenei que escondesse ali”.

And it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto me, `Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide there;'

7 E ntão fui a Perate, desenterrei o cinto e o tirei do lugar em que o havia escondido. O cinto estava podre e se tornara completamente inútil.

and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.

8 E o Senhor dirigiu-me a palavra, dizendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Thus said Jehovah:

9 “ Assim diz o Senhor: Do mesmo modo também arruinarei o orgulho de Judá e o orgulho desmedido de Jerusalém.

Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem.

10 E ste povo ímpio, que se recusa a ouvir as minhas palavras, que age segundo a dureza de seus corações, seguindo outros deuses para prestar-lhes culto e adorá-los, que este povo seja como aquele cinto: completamente inútil!

This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is -- as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.

11 A ssim como um cinto se apega à cintura de um homem, da mesma forma fiz com que toda a comunidade de Israel e toda a comunidade de Judá se apegasse a mim, para que fosse o meu povo para o meu renome, louvor e honra. Mas eles não me ouviram”, declara o Senhor. As Vasilhas de Couro

For, as the girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, So I caused to cleave unto Me The whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation of Jehovah, To be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for beauty, And they have not hearkened.

12 “ Diga-lhes também: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Deve-se encher de vinho toda vasilha de couro. E, se eles lhe disserem: ‘Será que não sabemos que se deve encher de vinho toda vasilha de couro?’

And thou hast said unto them this word, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, `Every bottle is full of wine,' And they have said unto thee: `Do we not certainly know that every bottle is full of wine?'

13 E ntão você lhes dirá: Assim diz o Senhor: Farei com que fiquem totalmente embriagados todos os habitantes desta terra, bem como os reis que se assentam no trono de Davi, os sacerdotes, os profetas e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém.

And thou hast said unto them, `Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am filling all the inhabitants of this land, And the kings who sit for David on his throne, And the priests, and the prophets, And all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, drunkenness,

14 E u os despedaçarei, colocando uns contra os outros, tanto os pais como os filhos”, diz o Senhor. “Nem a piedade nem a misericórdia nem a compaixão me impedirão de destruí-los.” Ameaça de Cativeiro

And have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons together, An affirmation of Jehovah, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I mercy, So as not to destroy them.

15 E scutem e dêem atenção, não sejam arrogantes, pois o Senhor falou.

Hear, and give ear -- be not haughty, For Jehovah hath spoken.

16 D êem glória ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, antes que ele traga trevas, antes que os pés de vocês tropecem nas colinas ao escurecer. Vocês esperam a luz, mas ele fará dela uma escuridão profunda; sim, ele a transformará em densas trevas.

Give ye to Jehovah your God honour, Before He doth cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And ye have waited for light, And He hath made it for death-shade, And hath appointed for thick darkness.

17 M as, se vocês não ouvirem, eu chorarei em segredo por causa do orgulho de vocês. Chorarei amargamente, e de lágrimas os meus olhos transbordarão, porque o rebanho do Senhor foi levado para o cativeiro.

And if ye do not hear it, In secret places doth my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weepeth sore, And the tear cometh down mine eyes, For the flock of Jehovah hath been taken captive.

18 D iga-se ao rei e à rainha-mãe: “Desçam do trono, pois as suas coroas gloriosas caíram de sua cabeça”.

Say to the king and to the mistress: Make yourselves low -- sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty.

19 A s cidades do Neguebe estão bloqueadas e não há quem nelas consiga entrar. Todo o Judá foi levado para o exílio, todos foram exilados.

The cities of the south have been shut up, And there is none opening, Judah hath been removed -- all of her, She hath been removed completely --

20 E rga os olhos, Jerusalém, e veja aqueles que vêm do norte. Onde está o rebanho que lhe foi confiado, as ovelhas das quais você se orgulhava?

Lift up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where the drove given to thee, thy beautiful flock?

21 O que você dirá quando sobre você dominarem aqueles que você sempre teve como aliados? Você não irá sentir dores como as de uma mulher em trabalho de parto?

What dost thou say, when He looketh after thee? And thou -- thou hast taught them over thee -- leaders for head? Do not pangs seize thee as a travailing woman?

22 E se você se perguntar: “Por que aconteceu isso comigo?”, saiba que foi por causa dos seus muitos pecados que as suas vestes foram levantadas e você foi violentada.

And when thou dost say in thy heart, `Wherefore have these met me?' For the abundance of thine iniquity Have thy skirts been uncovered, Have thy heels suffered violence.

23 S erá que o etíope pode mudar a sua pele? Ou o leopardo as suas pintas? Assim também vocês são incapazes de fazer o bem, vocês, que estão acostumados a praticar o mal.

Doth a Cushite change his skin? and a leopard his spots? Ye also are able to do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

24 “ Espalharei vocês como a palha levada pelo vento do deserto.

And I scatter them as stubble, Passing away, by a wind of the wilderness.

25 E sta é a sua parte, a porção que lhe determinei”, declara o Senhor, “porque você se esqueceu de mim e confiou em deuses falsos.

This thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Because thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.

26 E u mesmo levantarei as suas vestes até o seu rosto para que as suas vergonhas sejam expostas.

I also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath been seen.

27 T enho visto os seus atos repugnantes, os seus adultérios, os seus relinchos, a sua prostituição desavergonhada sobre as colinas e nos campos. Ai de você, Jerusalém! Até quando você continuará impura?”

Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on heights in a field, I have seen thine abominations. Wo to thee, O Jerusalem, Thou art not cleansed, after when again?
