1 E ntão o Senhor disse a Abrão: “Saia da sua terra, do meio dos seus parentes e da casa de seu pai, e vá para a terra que eu lhe mostrarei.

And Jehovah saith unto Abram, `Go for thyself, from thy land, and from thy kindred, and from the house of thy father, unto the land which I shew thee.

2 “ Farei de você um grande povo, e o abençoarei. Tornarei famoso o seu nome, e você será uma bênção.

And I make thee become a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.

3 A bençoarei os que o abençoarem e amaldiçoarei os que o amaldiçoarem; e por meio de você todos os povos da terra serão abençoados”.

And I bless those blessing thee, and him who is disesteeming thee I curse, and blessed in thee have been all families of the ground.'

4 P artiu Abrão, como lhe ordenara o Senhor, e Ló foi com ele. Abrão tinha setenta e cinco anos quando saiu de Harã.

And Abram goeth on, as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and Lot goeth with him, and Abram a son of five and seventy years in his going out from Charan.

5 L evou sua mulher Sarai, seu sobrinho Ló, todos os bens que haviam acumulado e os seus servos, comprados em Harã; partiram para a terra de Canaã e lá chegaram.

And Abram taketh Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they have gained, and the persons that they have obtained in Charan; and they go out to go towards the land of Canaan; and they come in to the land of Canaan.

6 A brão atravessou a terra até o lugar do carvalho de Moré, em Siquém. Naquela época os cananeus habitavam essa terra.

And Abram passeth over into the land, unto the place Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite then in the land.

7 O Senhor apareceu a Abrão e disse: “À sua descendência darei esta terra”. Abrão construiu ali um altar dedicado ao Senhor, que lhe havia aparecido.

And Jehovah appeareth unto Abram, and saith, `To thy seed I give this land;' and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, who hath appeared unto him.

8 D ali prosseguiu em direção às colinas a leste de Betel, onde armou acampamento, tendo Betel a oeste e Ai a leste. Construiu ali um altar dedicado ao Senhor e invocou o nome do Senhor.

And he removeth from thence towards a mountain at the east of Beth-El, and stretcheth out the tent (Beth-El at the west, and Hai at the east), and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and preacheth in the name of Jehovah.

9 D epois Abrão partiu e prosseguiu em direção ao Neguebe. Abrão no Egito

And Abram journeyeth, going on and journeying towards the south.

10 H ouve fome naquela terra, e Abrão desceu ao Egito para ali viver algum tempo, pois a fome era rigorosa.

And there is a famine in the land, and Abram goeth down towards Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine grievous in the land;

11 Q uando estava chegando ao Egito, disse a Sarai, sua mulher: “Bem sei que você é bonita.

and it cometh to pass as he hath drawn near to enter Egypt, that he saith unto Sarai his wife, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that thou a woman of beautiful appearance;

12 Q uando os egípcios a virem, dirão: ‘Esta é a mulher dele’. E me matarão, mas deixarão você viva.

and it hath come to pass that the Egyptians see thee, and they have said, `This his wife,' and they have slain me, and thee they keep alive:

13 D iga que é minha irmã, para que me tratem bem por amor a você e minha vida seja poupada por sua causa”.

say, I pray thee, thou my sister, so that it is well with me because of thee, and my soul hath lived for thy sake.'

14 Q uando Abrão chegou ao Egito, viram os egípcios que Sarai era uma mulher muito bonita.

And it cometh to pass, at the entering of Abram into Egypt, that the Egyptians see the woman that she exceeding fair;

15 V endo-a, os homens da corte do faraó a elogiaram diante do faraó, e ela foi levada ao seu palácio.

and princes of Pharaoh see her, and praise her unto Pharaoh, and the woman is taken Pharaoh's house;

16 E le tratou bem a Abrão por causa dela, e Abrão recebeu ovelhas e bois, jumentos e jumentas, servos e servas, e camelos.

and to Abram he hath done good because of her, and he hath sheep and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and handmaids, and she-asses, and camels.

17 M as o Senhor puniu o faraó e sua corte com graves doenças, por causa de Sarai, mulher de Abrão.

And Jehovah plagueth Pharaoh and his house -- great plagues -- for the matter of Sarai, Abram's wife.

18 P or isso o faraó mandou chamar Abrão e disse: “O que você fez comigo? Por que não me falou que ela era sua mulher?

And Pharaoh calleth for Abram, and saith, `What this thou hast done to me? why hast thou not declared to me that she thy wife?

19 P or que disse que era sua irmã? Foi por isso que eu a tomei para ser minha mulher. Aí está a sua mulher. Tome-a e vá!”

Why hast thou said, She my sister, and I take her to myself for a wife? and now, lo, thy wife, take and go.'

20 A seguir o faraó deu ordens para que providenciassem o necessário para que Abrão partisse, com sua mulher e com tudo o que possuía.

And Pharaoh chargeth men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, an all that he hath.
