1 S ucedeu, pois, nos dias de Acaz, filho de Jotão, filho de Uzias, rei de Judá, que Rezim, rei da Síria, e Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, subiram a Jerusalém, para pelejarem contra ela, mas não a puderam conquistar.

And it cometh to pass in the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, gone up hath Rezin king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle against it, and he is not able to fight against it.

2 Q uando deram aviso ã casa de Davi, dizendo: A Síria fez aliança com Efraim; ficou agitado o coração de Acaz, e o coração do seu povo, como se agitam as árvores do bosque ã força do vento.

And it is declared to the house of David, saying, `Aram hath been led towards Ephraim,' And his heart and the heart of his people is moved, like the moving of trees of a forest by the presence of wind.

3 E ntão disse o Senhor a Isaías: saí agora, tu e teu filho Sear-Jasube, ao encontro de Acaz, ao fim do aqueduto da piscina superior, na estrada do campo do lavandeiro,

And Jehovah saith unto Isaiah, `Go forth, I pray thee, to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-Jashub thy son, unto the end of the conduit of the upper pool, unto the highway of the fuller's field,

4 e dize-lhe: Acautela-te e aquieta-te; não temas, nem te desfaleça o coração por causa destes dois pedaços de tições fumegantes; por causa do ardor da ira de Rezim e da Síria, e do filho de Remalias.

and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah.

5 P orquanto a Síria maquinou o mal contra ti, com Efraim e com o filho de Remalias, dizendo:

Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:

6 S ubamos contra Judá, e amedrontemo-lo, e demos sobre ele, tomando-o para nós, e façamos reinar no meio dele o filho de Tabeel.

We go up into Judah, and we vex it, And we rend it unto ourselves, And we cause a king to reign in its midst -- The son of Tabeal.

7 A ssim diz o Senhor Deus: Isto não subsistirá, nem tampouco acontecerá.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: It doth not stand, nor shall it be!

8 P ois a cabeça da Síria é Damasco, e o cabeça de Damasco é Rezim; e dentro de sessenta e cinco anos Efraim será quebrantado, e deixará de ser povo.

For the head of Aram Damascus, And the head of Damascus Rezin, And within sixty and five years Is Ephraim broken from a people.

9 E ntretanto a cabeça de Efraim será Samária, e o cabeça de Samária o filho de Remalias; se não o crerdes, certamente não haveis de permanecer.

And the head of Ephraim Samaria, And the head of Samaria the son of Remaliah. If ye do not give credence, Surely ye are not stedfast.'

10 D e novo falou o Senhor com Acaz, dizendo:

And Jehovah addeth to speak unto Ahaz, saying:

11 P ede para ti ao Senhor teu Deus um sinal; pede-o ou em baixo nas profundezas ou em cima nas alturas.

`Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make high upwards.'

12 A caz, porém, respondeu: Não o pedirei nem porei ã prova o Senhor.

And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.'

13 E ntão disse Isaías: Ouvi agora, ó casa de Davi: Pouco vos é afadigardes os homens, que ainda afadigareis também ao meu Deus?

And he saith, `Hear, I pray you, O house of David, Is it a little thing for you to weary men, That ye weary also my God?

14 P ortanto o Senhor mesmo vos dará um sinal: eis que uma virgem conceberá, e dará ã luz um filho, e será o seu nome Emanuel.

Therefore the Lord Himself giveth to you a sign, Lo, the Virgin is conceiving, And is bringing forth a son, And hath called his name Immanuel,

15 M anteiga e mel comerá, quando ele souber rejeitar o mal e escolher o bem.

Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good.

16 P ois antes que o menino saiba rejeitar o mal e escolher o bem, será desolada a terra dos dois reis perante os quais tu tremes de medo.

For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings.

17 M as o Senhor fará vir sobre ti, e sobre o teu povo e sobre a casa de teu pai, dias tais, quais nunca vieram, desde o dia em que Efraim se separou de Judá, isto é, fará vir o rei da Assíria.

Jehovah bringeth on thee, and on thy people, And on the house of thy father, Days that have not come, Even from the day of the turning aside of Ephraim from Judah, By the king of Asshur.

18 N aquele dia assobiará o Senhor

And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah doth hiss for a fly that in the extremity of the brooks of Egypt, And for a bee that in the land of Asshur.

19 E elas virão, e pousarão todas nos vales desertos e nas fendas das rochas, e sobre todos os espinheirais, e sobre todos os prados.

And they have come, and rested all of them in the desolate valleys, And in holes of the rocks, and on all the thorns, And on all the commendable things.

20 N aquele dia rapará o Senhor com uma navalha alugada, que está além do Rio, isto é, com o rei da Assíria, a cabeça e os cabelos dos pés; e até a barba arrancará.

In that day doth the Lord shave, By a razor that is hired beyond the river, By the king of Asshur, The head, and the hair of the feet, Yea, also the beard it consumeth.

21 S ucederá naquele dia que um homem criará uma vaca e duas ovelhas;

And it hath come to pass, in that day, A man keepeth alive a heifer of the herd, And two of the flock,

22 e por causa da abundância do leite que elas hão de dar, comerá manteiga; pois manteiga e mel comerá todo aquele que ficar de resto no meio da terra.

And it hath come to pass, From the abundance of the yielding of milk he eateth butter, For butter and honey doth every one eat Who is left in the heart of the land.

23 S ucederá também naquele dia que todo lugar, em que antes havia mil vides, do valor de mil siclos de prata, será para sarças e para espinheiros.

And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns.

24 C om arco e flechas entrarão ali; porque as sarças e os espinheiros cobrirão toda a terra.

With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn.

25 Q uanto a todos os outeiros que costumavam cavar com enxadas, para ali não chegarás, por medo das sarças e dos espinheiros; mas servirão de pasto para os bois, e serão pisados pelas ovelhas.

And all the hills that with a mattock are kept in order, Thither cometh not the fear of brier and thorn, And it hath been for the sending forth of ox, And for the treading of sheep!'
