1 E ntão Josué chamou os rubenitas, os gaditas e a meia tribo de Manassés,

Then Joshua calleth for the Reubenite, and for the Gadite, and for the half of the tribe of Manasseh,

2 e disse-lhes: Tudo quanto Moisés, servo do Senhor, vos ordenou, tendes observado, bem como tendes obedecido ã minha voz em tudo quanto vos ordenei.

and saith unto them, `Ye -- ye have kept the whole of that which Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded you, and ye hearken to my voice, to all that I have commanded you;

3 A vossos irmãos nunca desamparastes, até o dia de hoje, mas tendes observado cuidadosamente o mandamento do Senhor vosso Deus.

ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, and have kept the charge -- the command of Jehovah your God.

4 A gora o Senhor vosso Deus deu descanso a vossos irmãos, como lhes prometera; voltai, pois, agora, e ide para as vossas tendas, para a terra da vossa possessão, que Moisés, servo do Senhor, vos deu além do Jordão.

`And, now, Jehovah your God hath given rest to your brethren, as He spake to them; and now, turn ye, and go for yourselves to your tents, unto the land of your possession, which Moses, servant of Jehovah, hath given to you beyond the Jordan.

5 T ão-somente tende cuidado de guardar com diligência o mandamento e a lei que Moisés, servo do Senhor, vos ordenou: que ameis ao Senhor vosso Deus, andeis em todos os seus caminhos, guardeis os seus mandamentos, e vos apegueis a ele e o sirvais com todo o vosso coração e com toda a vossa alma.

Only, be very watchful to do the command and the law which Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded you, to love Jehovah your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and to cleave to Him, and to serve Him, with all your heart, and with all your soul.'

6 A ssim Josué os abençoou, e os despediu; e eles foram para as suas tendas.

And Joshua blesseth them, and sendeth them away, and they go unto their tents.

7 O ra, Moisés dera herança em Basã ã meia tribo de Manassés, porém ã outra metade Josué deu herança entre seus irmãos, a oeste do Jordão. E quando Josué os enviou para as suas tendas os abençoou

And to the half of the tribe of Manasseh hath Moses given, in Bashan, and to its half hath Joshua given with their brethren beyond the Jordan westward; and also when Joshua hath sent them away unto their tents, then he doth bless them,

8 e lhes disse: Voltai para as vossas tendas com grandes riquezas: com muitíssimo gado, com prata e ouro, com cobre e ferro, e com muitíssimos vestidos; e reparti com vossos irmãos o despojo dos vossos inimigos.

and speak unto them, saying, `With great riches turn ye back unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.'

9 A ssim voltaram os filhos de Rúben os filhos de Gade e a meia tribo de Manassés, separando-se dos filhos de Israel em Siló, que está na terra de Canaã, para irem ã terra de Gileade, ã terra da sua possessão, de que foram feitos possuidores, segundo a ordem do Senhor por intermédio de Moisés.

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, turn back and go from the sons of Israel out of Shiloh, which in the land of Canaan, to go unto the land of Gilead, unto the land of their possession, in which they have possession, according to the command of Jehovah, by the hand of Moses;

10 T endo chegado ã região junto ao Jordão, ainda na terra de Canaã, os filhos de Rúben os filhos de Gade e a meia tribo de Manassés edificaram ali, ã beira do Jordão, um altar de grandes proporções.

and they come in unto the districts of the Jordan, which in the land of Canaan, and the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, build there an altar by the Jordan -- a great altar for appearance.

11 E os filhos de Israel ouviram dizer: Eis que os filhos de Rúben os filhos de Gade e a meia tribo de Manassés edificaram um altar na fronteira da terra de Canaã, na região junto ao Jordão, da banda que pertence aos filhos de Israel.

And the sons of Israel hear, saying, `Lo, the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, have built the altar over-against the land of Canaan, on the districts of the Jordan, at the passage of the sons of Israel.'

12 Q uando os filhos de Israel ouviram isto, congregaram-se todos em Siló, para subirem a guerrear contra eles.

And the sons of Israel hear, and all the company of the sons of Israel is assembled at Shiloh, to go up against them to war;

13 E ntão os filhos de Israel enviaram aos filhos de Rúben aos filhos de Gade e ã meia tribo de Manassés, ã terra de Gileade, Finéias, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote,

and the sons of Israel send unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the half of the tribe of Manasseh -- unto the land of Gilead -- Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest,

14 e com ele dez príncipes, um príncipe de cada casa paterna de todas as tribos de Israel; e eles eram os cabeças das suas casas paternas entre os milhares de Israel.

and ten princes with him, one prince, one prince, for a house of a father, for all the tribes of Israel, and each of them a head of a house of their fathers, for the thousands of Israel.

15 F oram, pois, ter com os filhos de Rúben e os filhos de Gade e a meia tribo de Manassés, ã terra de Gileade, e lhes disseram:

And they come in unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the half of the tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and speak with them, saying,

16 A ssim diz toda a congregação do Senhor: Que transgressão é esta que cometestes contra o Deus de Israel, deixando hoje de seguir ao Senhor, edificando-vos um altar para vos rebelardes hoje contra o Senhor?

`Thus said all the company of Jehovah, What this trespass which ye have trespassed against the God of Israel, to turn back to-day from after Jehovah, by your building for you an altar, for your rebelling to-day against Jehovah?

17 A caso nos é pouca a iniqüidade de Peor, de que ainda até o dia de hoje não nos temos purificado, apesar de ter vindo uma praga sobre a congregaçao do Senhor,

Is the iniquity of Peor little to us, from which we have not been cleansed till this day -- and the plague is in the company of Jehovah,

18 p ara que hoje queirais abandonar ao Senhor? Será que, rebelando-vos hoje contra o Senhor, amanhã ele se irará contra toda a congregação de Israel.

that ye turn back to-day from after Jehovah? and it hath been -- ye rebel to-day against Jehovah -- and to-morrow against all the company of Israel He is wroth.

19 S e é, porém, que a terra da vossa possessão é imunda, passai para a terra da possessão do Senhor, onde habita o tabernáculo do Senhor, e tomai possessão entre nós; mas não vos rebeleis contra o Senhor, nem tampouco vos rebeleis contra nós, edificando-vos um altar afora o altar do Senhor nosso Deus.

`And surely, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over for you unto the land of the possession of Jehovah, where the tabernacle of Jehovah hath tabernacled, and have possession in our midst; and against Jehovah rebel not, and against us rebel not, by your building for you an altar, besides the altar of Jehovah our God.

20 N ão cometeu Acã, filho de Zerá, transgressão no tocante ao anátema? e não veio ira sobre toda a congregação de Israel? de modo que não pereceu ele só na sua iniqüidade.

Did not Achan son of Zerah commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and on all the company of Israel there was wrath? and he alone expired not in his iniquity.'

21 E ntão responderam os filhos de Rúben os filhos de Gade e a meia tribo de Manassés, e disseram aos cabeças dos milhares de Israel:

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, answer and speak with the heads of the thousands of Israel:

22 O Poderoso, Deus, o Senhor, o Poderoso, Deus, o Senhor, ele o sabe, e Israel mesmo o saberá! Se foi em rebeldia, ou por transgressão contra o Senhor não nos salves hoje;

`The God of gods -- Jehovah, the God of gods -- Jehovah, He is knowing, and Israel, he doth know, if in rebellion, and if in trespass against Jehovah (Thou dost not save us this day!)

23 s e nós edificamos um altar, para nos tornar de após o Senhor, ou para sobre ele oferecer holocausto e oferta de cereais, ou sobre ele oferecer sacrifícios de ofertas pacíficas, o Senhor mesmo de nós o requeira;

building for ourselves an altar to turn back from after Jehovah, and if to cause to go up on it burnt-offering and present, and if to make on it peace-offerings -- Jehovah Himself doth require.

24 e se antes o não fizemos com receio e de propósito, dizendo: Amanhã vossos filhos poderiam dizer a nossos filhos: Que tendes vós com o Senhor Deus de Israel?

`And if not, from fear of thing we have done it, saying, Hereafter your sons do speak to ours sons, saying, What to you and to Jehovah God of Israel?

25 P ois o Senhor pôs o Jordão por termo entre nós e vós, ó filhos de Rúben e ó filhos de Gade; não tendes parte no Senhor. Assim bem poderiam vossos filhos fazer com que os nossos filhos deixassem de temer ao Senhor.

for a border hath Jehovah put between us and you, O sons of Reuben, and sons of Gad -- Jordan; ye have no portion in Jehovah -- and your sons have caused our sons to cease, not to fear Jehovah.

26 P elo que dissemos: Edifiquemos agora um altar, não para holocausto, nem para sacrifício,

`And we say, Pray let us prepare for ourselves to build the altar -- not for burnt-offering nor for sacrifice --

27 m as para que, entre nós e vós, e entre as nossas gerações depois de nós, nos sirva de testemunho para podermos fazer o serviço do Senhor diante dele com os nossos holocaustos, com os nossos sacrifícios e com as nossas ofertas pacíficas; para que vossos filhos não digam amanhã a nossos filhos: Não tendes parte no Senhor.

but a witness it between us and you, and between our generations after us, to do the service of Jehovah before Him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings, and your sons do not say hereafter to our sons, Ye have no portion in Jehovah.

28 P elo que dissemos: Quando amanhã disserem assim a nós ou

`And we say, And it hath been, when they say unto us, and unto our generations hereafter, that we have said, See the pattern of the altar of Jehovah, which our fathers made -- not for burnt-offering nor for sacrifice -- but a witness it between us and you.

29 L onge esteja de nós que nos rebelemos contra o Senhor, ou que hoje o abandonemos, edificando altar para holocausto, oferta de cereais ou sacrifício, afora o altar do Senhor nosso Deus, que está perante o seu tabernáculo.

`Far be it from us to rebel against Jehovah, and to turn back to-day from after Jehovah, to build an altar for burnt-offering, for present, and for sacrifice, apart from the altar of Jehovah our God, which before His tabernacle.'

30 Q uando, pois, Finéias, o sacerdote, e os príncipes da congregação, os cabeças dos milhares de Israel que estavam com ele, ouviram as palavras que lhes disseram os filhos de Rúben os filhos de Gade e os filhos de Manassés, ficaram satisfeitos.

And Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the company, and the heads of the thousands of Israel, who with him, hear the words which the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the sons of Manasseh have spoken, and it is good in their eyes.

31 E ntão disse Finéias, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote, aos filhos de Rúben aos filhos de Gade e aos filhos de Manassés: Hoje sabemos que o Senhor está no meio de nós, porquanto não cometestes tal transgressão contra o Senhor; agora livrastes os filhos de Israel da mão do Senhor.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest saith unto the sons of Reuben, and unto the sons of Gad, and unto the sons of Manasseh, `To-day we have known that Jehovah in our midst, because ye have not committed against Jehovah this trespass -- then ye have delivered the sons of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah.'

32 E Finéias, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote, e os príncipes, deixando os filhos de Rúben e os filhos de Gade, voltaram da terra de Gileade para a terra de Canaã, aos filhos de Israel, e trouxeram-lhes a resposta.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, turn back from the sons of Reuben, and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, unto the sons of Israel, and bring them back word;

33 E com isso os filhos de Israel ficaram satisfeitos; e louvaram a Deus, e não falaram mais de subir a guerrear contra eles, para destruírem a terra em que habitavam os filhos de Rúben e os filhos de Gade.

and the thing is good in the eyes of the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel bless God, and have not said to go up against them to war, to destroy the land which the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, are dwelling in.

34 E os filhos de Rúben e os filhos de Gade chamaram ao altar Testemunha; pois, disseram eles, é testemunho entre nós que o Senhor é Deus.

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad proclaim concerning the altar, that `it a witness between us that Jehovah God.'
