1 P rofetul Elisei l-a chemat pe unul dintre fiii profeţilor şi i-a zis: „Încinge-te, ia această sticluţă cu untdelemn şi du-te la Ramot-Ghilad.

And Elisha the prophet hath called to one of the sons of the prophets, and saith to him, `Gird up thy loins, and take this vial of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead,

2 C ând vei ajunge acolo, caută-l pe Iehu, fiul lui Iehoşafat, fiul lui Nimşi. Intră, ia-l dintre prietenii lui şi du-l într-o odaie separată.

and thou hast gone in there, and see thou there Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, and thou hast gone in, and caused him to rise out of the midst of his brethren, and brought him in to the inner part of an inner-chamber,

3 I a apoi sticluţa cu untdelemn şi toarnă untdelemnul pe capul lui, zicându-i: «Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Te ung rege peste Israel!’» După aceea deschide uşa şi fugi fără să te opreşti.“

and taken the vial of oil, and poured on his head, and said, Thus said Jehovah, I have anointed thee for king unto Israel; and thou hast opened the door, and fled, and dost not wait.'

4 T ânărul profet a plecat spre Ramot-Ghilad.

And the young man goeth -- the young man the prophet -- to Ramoth-Gilead,

5 C ând a ajuns, căpeteniile oştirii stăteau împreună. El a zis: – Căpetenie, am un mesaj pentru tine! – Pentru care dintre noi? a întrebat Iehu. – Pentru tine, căpetenie, a răspuns el.

and cometh in, and lo, chiefs of the force are sitting, and he saith, `I have a word unto thee, O chief!' and Jehu saith, `Unto which of all of us?' and he saith, `Unto thee, O chief.'

6 I ehu s-a sculat şi a intrat în casă. Tânărul i-a turnat untdelemnul pe cap şi i-a zis: – Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: „Te ung rege peste Israel, poporul Domnului.

And he riseth and cometh in to the house, and he poureth the oil on his head, and saith to him, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I have anointed thee for king unto the people of Jehovah, unto Israel,

7 S ă nimiceşti familia lui Ahab, stăpânul tău, ca astfel să răzbun sângele slujitorilor Mei, profeţii, şi sângele tuturor slujitorilor Domnului, vărsat de Izabela.

and thou hast smitten the house of Ahab thy lord, and I have required the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah, from the hand of Jezebel;

8 V a pieri toată familia lui şi voi nimici pe orice bărbat al lui Ahab, fie sclav, fie liber în Israel.

and perished hath all the house of Ahab, and I have cut off to Ahab those sitting on the wall, and restrained, and left, in Israel,

9 V oi face familiei lui Ahab aşa cum am făcut familiei lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, şi aşa cum am făcut familiei lui Başa, fiul lui Ahia.

and I have given up the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and as the house of Baasha son of Ahijah,

10 C âinii o vor mânca pe Izabela pe ogorul din Izreel şi nu o va înmormânta nimeni.“ Apoi a închis uşa şi a fugit.

and Jezebel do the dogs eat in the portion of Jezreel, and there is none burying;' and he openeth the door and fleeth.

11 C ând a ieşit Iehu la slujitorii stăpânului său, aceştia l-au întrebat: – Toate bune? De ce a venit acest nebun la tine? – Voi îl ştiţi pe omul acesta şi ştiţi ce poate spune, le-a răspuns Iehu.

And Jehu hath gone out unto the servants of his lord, and saith to him, `Is there peace? wherefore came this madman unto thee?' and he saith unto them, `Ye have known the man and his talk.'

12 – Minciuni! i-au zis ei. Povesteşte-ne! Iehu le-a răspuns: – El mi-a vorbit astfel: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Te ung rege peste Israel!»“

And they say, `False, declare, we pray thee, to us;' and he saith, `Thus and thus spake he unto me, saying, Thus said Jehovah, I have anointed thee for king unto Israel.'

13 E i s-au grăbit să-şi ia mantiile şi să le pună sub el, pe treptele goale. Apoi au sunat din trâmbiţă şi au zis: „Iehu este rege!“ Ioram şi Ahazia ucişi de Iehu

And they haste and take each his garment, and put under him at the top of the stairs, and blow with a trumpet, and say, `Reigned hath Jehu!'

14 A stfel a uneltit Iehu, fiul lui Iehoşafat, fiul lui Nimşi, împotriva lui Ioram. (În acea vreme, oştirea lui Ioram se afla la Ramot-Ghilad pentru a-l apăra împotriva lui Hazael, regele Aramului.

And Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspireth against Joram -- (and Joram was keeping in Ramoth-Gilead, he and all Israel, from the presence of Hazael king of Aram,

15 F iind rănit, regele Ioram s-a întors la Izreel pentru a se vindeca de rănile pe care i le făcuseră arameii în timpul războiului cu Hazael, regele Aramului.) Aşadar, Iehu a continuat: – Dacă aceasta este şi dorinţa voastră, atunci nu lăsaţi pe nimeni să scape din cetate, ca nu cumva să se ducă să vestească aceasta în Izreel.

and king Joram turneth back to be healed in Jezreel, of the wounds with which the Aramaeans smite him, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram) -- and Jehu saith, `If it is your mind, let not an escaped one go out from the city, to go to declare in Jezreel.'

16 A poi Iehu a încălecat şi s-a dus la Izreel, căci Ioram se odihnea acolo, iar Ahazia, regele lui Iuda, se dusese să-l vadă.

And Jehu rideth, and goeth to Jezreel, for Joram is lying there, and Ahaziah king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram.

17 S trăjerul care stătea pe turnul din Izreel a văzut trupele lui Iehu venind şi a zis: – Văd nişte trupe venind! – Trimite îndată un călăreţ ca să-i întâmpine şi să-i întrebe dacă vin cu gânduri de pace, a zis Ioram.

And the watchman is standing on the tower in Jezreel, and seeth the company of Jehu in his coming, and saith, `A company I see;' and Joram saith, `Take a rider and send to meet them, and let him say, Is there peace?'

18 C ălăreţul a plecat şi, când l-a întâlnit pe Iehu, i-a zis: – Aşa vorbeşte regele: „Vii cu gânduri de pace?“ – Ce-ţi pasă ţie dacă vin cu gânduri de pace? i-a răspuns Iehu. Urmează-mă! Străjerul l-a înştiinţat pe rege, zicându-i: – Mesagerul s-a dus până la ei, dar nu se mai întoarce!

and the rider on the horse goeth to meet him, and saith, `Thus said the king, Is there peace?' and Jehu saith, `What -- to thee and to peace? turn round behind me.' And the watchman declareth, saying, `The messenger came unto them, and he hath not returned.'

19 A tunci a fost trimis un al doilea călăreţ, care s-a dus la ei şi le-a zis: – Aşa vorbeşte regele: „Vii cu gânduri de pace?“ – Ce-ţi pasă ţie dacă vin cu gânduri de pace? i-a răspuns Iehu. Urmează-mă!

And he sendeth a second rider on a horse, and he cometh in unto them, and saith, `Thus said the king, Is there peace?' and Jehu saith, `What -- to thee and to peace? turn round behind me.'

20 S trăjerul l-a înştiinţat pe rege, zicându-i: – Mesagerul s-a dus până la ei, dar nu se mai întoarce! După felul cum este mânat carul din frunte, cel ce vine este Iehu, fiul lui Nimşi, căci el mână ca un nebun.

And the watchman declareth, saying, `He came unto them, and he hath not returned, and the driving like the driving of Jehu son of Nimshi, for with madness he driveth.'

21 – Înhamă! a poruncit Ioram. După ce au pregătit carul, Ioram, regele lui Israel, şi Ahazia, regele lui Iuda, au plecat fiecare în carul lui să-l întâlnească pe Iehu; şi l-au întâlnit în ogorul izreelitului Nabot.

And Jehoram saith, `Harness;' and his chariot is harnessed, and Jehoram king of Israel goeth out, and Ahaziah king of Judah, each in his chariot, and they go out to meet Jehu, and find him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 C ând l-a văzut Ioram pe Iehu, i-a zis: – Vii cu gânduri de pace, Iehu? – Cum pot să vin cu gânduri de pace atâta timp cât desfrânările mamei tale, Izabela, şi vrăjitoriile ei sunt atât de multe? i-a răspuns el.

And it cometh to pass, at Jehoram's seeing Jehu, that he saith, `Is there peace, Jehu?' and he saith, `What the peace, while the whoredoms of Jezebel thy mother, and her witchcrafts, are many?'

23 I oram a întors carul şi a fugit strigându-i lui Ahazia: – Trădare, Ahazia!

And Jehoram turneth his hands, and fleeth, and saith unto Ahaziah, `Deceit, O Ahaziah!'

24 D ar Iehu a luat arcul, a tras cu toată puterea şi l-a ţintit pe Ioram între umeri. Săgeata i-a străpuns inima, iar el s-a prăbuşit în car.

And Jehu hath filled his hand with a bow, and smiteth Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow goeth out from his heart, and he boweth down in his chariot.

25 I ehu i-a zis ofiţerului său, Bidkar: „Ia-l şi aruncă-l în ogorul izreelitului Nabot, căci, adu-ţi aminte că, atunci când călăream împreună, în urma tatălui său, Ahab, Domnul a rostit împotriva lui această hotărâre:

And saith unto Bidkar his captain, `Lift up, cast him into the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite -- for, remember, I and thou were riding together after Ahab his father, and Jehovah lifted upon him this burden:

26 « Am văzut ieri sângele lui Nabot şi sângele fiilor lui, zice Domnul, şi te voi face cu siguranţă să plăteşti chiar în acest ogor, zice Domnul!»“ Ia-l deci şi aruncă-l pe ogor, potrivit Cuvântului Domnului.

Have I not the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons seen yesternight -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- yea, I have recompensed to thee in this portion -- the affirmation of Jehovah; -- and now, lift up, cast him into the portion, according to the word of Jehovah.'

27 C ând a văzut lucrul acesta, Ahazia, regele lui Iuda, a fugit spre Bet-Hagan. Iehu l-a urmărit şi a zis: „ Omorâţi-l şi pe el!“ Şi l-au lovit în car, la înălţimea Gur, care este lângă Ibleam, dar el a fugit la Meghido şi a murit acolo.

And Ahaziah king of Judah hath seen, and fleeth the way of the garden-house, and Jehu pursueth after him, and saith, `Smite him -- also him -- in the chariot,' in the going up to Gur, that Ibleam, and he fleeth to Megiddo, and dieth there,

28 S lujitorii lui l-au dus într-un car la Ierusalim şi l-au înmormântat în mormântul lui, alături de părinţii săi, în Cetatea lui David.

and his servants carry him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and bury him in his burying-place, with his fathers, in the city of David.

29 A hazia ajunsese rege al lui Iuda în al unsprezecelea an al domniei lui Ioram, fiul lui Ahab. Izabela ucisă de Iehu

And in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab reign did Ahaziah over Judah.

30 A poi Iehu a venit la Izreel. Când a auzit Izabela, şi-a vopsit ochii, şi-a împodobit capul şi s-a aşezat la fereastră.

And Jehu cometh in to Jezreel, and Jezebel hath heard, and putteth her eyes in paint and maketh right her head, and looketh out through the window.

31 Î n timp ce Iehu intra pe poartă, ea a zis: – Vii cu gânduri de pace, Zimri, ucigaşul stăpânului său?

And Jehu hath come into the gate, and she saith, `Was there peace Zimri -- slayer of his lord?'

32 E l s-a uitat spre fereastră şi a strigat: – Cine este de partea mea? Cine? Atunci doi sau trei eunuci s-au uitat în jos înspre el.

And he lifteth up his face unto the window, and saith, `Who with me? -- who?' and look out unto him do two three eunuchs;

33 – Aruncaţi-o jos! le-a zis el. Ei au aruncat-o jos, iar sângele ei a ţâşnit pe zid şi pe cai, aceştia călcând-o în picioare.

And he saith, `Let her go;' and they let her go, and of her blood is sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses, and he treadeth her down.

34 A poi Iehu a intrat în palat. După ce a mâncat şi a băut, el a poruncit: „Îngrijiţi-vă de blestemata aceasta şi îngropaţi-o, căci a fost fiică de rege.“

And he cometh in, and eateth, and drinketh, and saith, `Look after, I pray you, this cursed one, and bury her, for she a king's daughter.'

35 D ar când au ajuns la ea, ca s-o îngroape, n-au mai găsit din ea decât craniul, picioarele şi palmele mâinilor.

And they go to bury her, and have not found of her except the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands.

36 E i s-au întors şi l-au înştiinţat pe Iehu, care a zis: „Acesta este Cuvântul Domnului, pe care El îl spusese prin robul Său Ilie tişbitul: «Câinii vor mânca în ogorul din Izreel carnea Izabelei,

And they turn back, and declare to him, and he saith, `The word of Jehovah it, that He spake by the hand of this servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel do the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel,

37 i ar trupul Izabelei va fi, în ogorul lui Izreel, ca bălegarul de pe întinderea ogoarelor, aşa că nimeni nu va mai putea zice vreodată: ‘Aceasta este Izabela!’»“

and the carcase of Jezebel hath been as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, that they say not, This Jezebel.'
