1 А дня першого в тижні прийшли вони рано вранці до гробу, несучи наготовані пахощі,

And on the first of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bearing the spices they made ready, and certain with them,

2 т а й застали, що камінь від гробу відвалений був.

and they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb,

3 А ввійшовши, вони не знайшли тіла Господа Ісуса.

and having gone in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 І сталось, як безрадні були вони в цім, ось два мужі в одежах блискучих з'явились при них.

And it came to pass, while they are perplexed about this, that lo, two men stood by them in glittering apparel,

5 А коли налякались вони й посхиляли обличчя додолу, ті сказали до них: Чого ви шукаєте Живого між мертвими?

and on their having become afraid, and having inclined the face to the earth, they said to them, `Why do ye seek the living with the dead?

6 Н ема Його тут, бо воскрес! Пригадайте собі, як Він вам говорив, коли ще перебував в Галілеї.

he is not here, but was raised; remember how he spake to you, being yet in Galilee,

7 В ін казав: Сину Людському треба бути виданому до рук грішних людей, і розп'ятому бути, і воскреснути третього дня.

saying -- It behoveth the Son of Man to be delivered up to the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again.'

8 І згадали вони ті слова Його!

And they remembered his sayings,

9 А вернувшись від гробу, про все те сповістили Одинадцятьох та всіх інших.

and having turned back from the tomb told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

10 Т о були: Марія Магдалина, і Іванна, і Марія, мати Яковова, і інші з ними, і вони розповіли апостолам це.

And it was the Magdalene Mary, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women with them, who told unto the apostles these things,

11 Т а слова їхні здалися їм вигадкою, і не повірено їм.

and their sayings appeared before them as idle talk, and they were not believing them.

12 П етро ж устав та до гробу побіг, і, нахилившися, бачить лежать самі тільки покривала... І вернувсь він до себе, і дивувався, що сталось...

And Peter having risen, did run to the tomb, and having stooped down he seeth the linen clothes lying alone, and he went away to his own home, wondering at that which was come to pass.

13 І ото, двоє з них того ж дня йшли в село, на ім'я Еммаус, що від Єрусалиму лежало на стадій із шістдесят.

And, lo, two of them were going on during that day to a village, distant sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, the name of which Emmaus,

14 І розмовляли вони між собою про все те, що сталося.

and they were conversing with one another about all these things that have happened.

15 І ото, як вони розмовляли, і розпитували один одного, підійшов Сам Ісус, і пішов разом із ними.

And it came to pass in their conversing and reasoning together, that Jesus himself, having come nigh, was going on with them,

16 О чі ж їхні були стримані, щоб Його не пізнали.

and their eyes were holden so as not to know him,

17 І спитався Він їх: Що за речі такі, що про них між собою в дорозі міркуєте, і чого ви сумні?

and he said unto them, `What these words that ye exchange with one another, walking, and ye are sad?'

18 І озвався один, йому ймення Клеопа, та й промовив до Нього: Ти хіба тут у Єрусалимі єдиний захожий, що не знає, що сталося в нім цими днями?

And the one, whose name was Cleopas, answering, said unto him, `Art thou alone such a stranger in Jerusalem, that thou hast not known the things that came to pass in it in these days?'

19 І спитався Він їх: Що таке? А вони розповіли Йому: Про Ісуса Назарянина, що Пророк був, могутній у ділі й у слові перед Богом і всім народом.

And he said to them, `What things?' And they said to him, `The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who became a man -- a prophet -- powerful in deed and word, before God and all the people,

20 Я к первосвященики й наша старшина Його віддали на суд смертний, і Його розп'яли...

how also the chief priests and our rulers did deliver him up to a judgment of death, and crucified him;

21 А ми сподівались були, що Це Той, що має Ізраїля визволити. І до того, оце третій день вже сьогодні, як усе оте сталося...

and we were hoping that he it is who is about to redeem Israel, and also with all these things, this third day is passing to-day, since these things happened.

22 А дехто з наших жінок, що рано були коло гробу, нас здивували:

`And certain women of ours also astonished us, coming early to the tomb,

23 в они тіла Його не знайшли, та й вернулися й оповідали, що бачили й з'явлення Анголів, які кажуть, що живий Він...

and not having found his body, they came, saying also to have seen an apparition of messengers, who say he is alive,

24 І пішли дехто з наших до гробу, і знайшли так, як казали й жінки; та Його не побачили...

and certain of those with us went away unto the tomb, and found as even the women said, and him they saw not.'

25 Т оді Він сказав їм: О, безумні й запеклого серця, щоб повірити всьому, про що сповіщали Пророки!

And he said unto them, `O inconsiderate and slow in heart, to believe on all that the prophets spake!

26 Ч и ж Христові не це перетерпіти треба було, і ввійти в Свою славу?

Was it not behoving the Christ these things to suffer, and to enter into his glory?'

27 І Він почав від Мойсея, і від Пророків усіх, і виясняв їм зо всього Писання, що про Нього було.

and having begun from Moses, and from all the prophets, he was expounding to them in all the Writings the things about himself.

28 І наблизились вони до села, куди йшли. А Він удавав, ніби хоче йти далі.

And they came nigh to the village whither they were going, and he made an appearance of going on further,

29 А вони не пускали Його й намовляли: Зостанься з нами, бо вже вечоріє, і кінчається день. І Він увійшов, щоб із ними побути.

and they constrained him, saying, `Remain with us, for it is toward evening,' and the day did decline, and he went in to remain with them.

30 І ото, коли сів Він із ними до столу, то взяв хліб, поблагословив, і, ламаючи, їм подавав...

And it came to pass, in his reclining (at meat) with them, having taken the bread, he blessed, and having broken, he was giving to them,

31 Т оді очі відкрилися їм, і пізнали Його. Але Він став для них невидимий...

and their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became unseen by them.

32 І говорили вони один одному: Чи не палало нам серце обом, коли промовляв Він до нас по дорозі, і коли виясняв нам Писання?...

And they said one to another, `Was not our heart burning within us, as he was speaking to us in the way, and as he was opening up to us the Writings?'

33 І зараз устали вони, і повернулись до Єрусалиму, і знайшли там у зборі Одинадцятьох, і тих, що з ними були,

And they, having risen up the same hour, turned back to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven, and those with them,

34 я кі розповідали, що Господь дійсно воскрес, і з'явився був Симонові.

saying -- `The Lord was raised indeed, and was seen by Simon;'

35 А вони розповіли, що сталось було на дорозі, і як пізнали Його в ламанні хліба.

and they were telling the things in the way, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread,

36 І , як вони говорили оце, Сам Ісус став між ними, і промовив до них: Мир вам!

and as they are speaking these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, `Peace -- to you;'

37 А вони налякалися та перестрашились, і думали, що бачать духа.

and being amazed, and becoming affrighted, they were thinking themselves to see a spirit.

38 В ін же промовив до них: Чого ви стривожились? І пощо ті думки до сердець ваших входять?

And he said to them, `Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do reasonings come up in your hearts?

39 П огляньте на руки Мої та на ноги Мої, це ж Я Сам! Доторкніться до Мене й дізнайтесь, бо не має дух тіла й костей, а Я, бачите, маю.

see my hands and my feet, that I am he; handle me and see, because a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me having.'

40 І , промовивши це, показав Він їм руки та ноги.

And having said this, he shewed to them the hands and the feet,

41 І , як ще не йняли вони віри з радощів та дивувались, Він сказав їм: Чи не маєте тут чогось їсти?

and while they are not believing from the joy, and wondering, he said to them, `Have ye anything here to eat?'

42 В они ж подали Йому кусника риби печеної та стільника медового.

and they gave to him part of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb,

43 І , взявши, Він їв перед ними.

and having taken, he did eat before them,

44 І промовив до них: Це слова, що казав Я до вас, коли був іще з вами: Потрібно, щоб виконалось усе, що про Мене в Законі Мойсеєвім, та в Пророків, і в Псалмах написане.

and he said to them, `These the words that I spake unto you, being yet with you, that it behoveth to be fulfilled all the things that are written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, about me.'

45 Т оді розум розкрив їм, щоб вони розуміли Писання.

Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings,

46 І сказав Він до них: Так написано є, і так потрібно було постраждати Христові, і воскреснути з мертвих дня третього,

and he said to them -- `Thus it hath been written, and thus it was behoving the Christ to suffer, and to rise out of the dead the third day,

47 і щоб у Ймення Його проповідувалось покаяння, і прощення гріхів між народів усіх, від Єрусалиму почавши.

and reformation and remission of sins to be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem:

48 А ви свідки того.

and ye -- ye are witnesses of these things.

49 І ось Я посилаю на вас обітницю Мого Отця; а ви позостаньтеся в місті, аж поки зодягнетесь силою з висоти.

`And, lo, I do send the promise of my Father upon you, but ye -- abide ye in the city of Jerusalem till ye be clothed with power from on high.'

50 І Він вивів за місто їх аж до Віфанії; і, знявши руки Свої, поблагословив їх.

And he led them forth without -- unto Bethany, and having lifted up his hands he did bless them,

51 І сталось, як Він благословляв їх, то зачав відступати від них, і на небо возноситись.

and it came to pass, in his blessing them, he was parted from them, and was borne up to the heaven;

52 А вони поклонились Йому, і повернулись до Єрусалиму з великою радістю.

and they, having bowed before him, did turn back to Jerusalem with great joy,

53 І постійно вони перебували в храмі, переславляючи й хвалячи Бога. Амінь.

and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
