1 ( 3-31) Цар Навуходоносор, до всіх народів, племен та язиків, що мешкають на всій землі: Нехай вам примножиться мир!

`Nebuchadnezzar the king to all peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the earth: Your peace be great!

2 ( 3-32) Знаки та чуда, які зробив зо мною Всевишній Бог, уважаю за відповідне об'явити.

The signs and wonders that God Most High hath done with me, it is good before me to shew.

3 ( 3-33) Які великі Його знаки, й які потужні Його чуда! Царство Його царство вічне, а Його панування з покоління в покоління!

His signs how great! and His wonders how mighty! His kingdom a kingdom age-during, and His rule with generation and generation.

4 ( 4-1) Я, Навуходоносор, був спокійний в своєму домі, і щасливий у палаті своїй.

`I, Nebuchadnezzar, have been at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace:

5 ( 4-2) Я бачив сон, і він настрашив мене, а думки на моєму ложі та видіння моєї голови налякали мене.

a dream I have seen, and it maketh me afraid, and the conceptions on my bed, and the visions of my head, do trouble me.

6 ( 4-3) І був виданий від мене наказ привести перед мене всіх вавилонських мудреців, щоб вони об'явили мені розв'язку сна.

And by me a decree is made, to cause all the wise men of Babylon to come up before me, that the interpretation of the dream they may cause me to know.

7 ( 4-4) Того часу поприходили чарівники, заклиначі, халдеї та віщуни, і я розповів перед ними сон, та вони не об'явили мені його розв'язки.

Then coming up are the scribes, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers, and the dream I have told before them, and its interpretation they are not making known to me.

8 ( 4-5) І аж останній прийшов перед мене Даниїл, якому ім'я Валтасар, як ім'я мого бога, і що в ньому дух Святого Бога. І я розповів йому сон та й сказав:

And at last come up before me hath Daniel, whose name Belteshazzar -- according to the name of my god -- and in whom the spirit of the holy gods, and the dream before him I have told:

9 ( 4-6) Валтасаре, начальнику чарівників, я знаю, що в тобі дух Святого Бога, і всяка таємниця не тяжка тобі. Скажи видіння мого сну, що я бачив, та його розв'язку.

`O Belteshazzar, master of the scribes, as I have known that the spirit of the holy gods in thee, and no secret doth press thee, the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation, tell.

10 ( 4-7) А видіння моєї голови на моєму ложі такі. Я бачив, аж ось дерево серед землі, а вишина його велика.

As to the visions of my head on my bed, I was looking, and lo, a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height great:

11 ( 4-8) Це дерево стало велике та сильне, і вишина його сягала до Неба, а його обвід до кінця всієї землі.

become great hath the tree, yea, strong, and its height doth reach to the heavens, and its vision to the end of the whole land;

12 ( 4-9) Віття його гарне, плід його великий, а в ньому пожива для всіх. Під ним знаходила собі тінь польова звірина, а на його галуззях мешкали птахи небесні, і з нього живилося кожне тіло.

its leaves fair, and its budding great, and food for all in it: under it take shade doth the beast of the field, and in its boughs dwell do the birds of the heavens, and of it fed are all flesh.

13 ( 4-10) Бачив я у видіннях своєї голови на моєму ложі, аж ось зійшов з неба Сторож Божий та Святий.

`I was looking, in the visions of my head on my bed, and lo, a sifter, even a holy one, from the heavens is coming down.

14 ( 4-11) І він кликнув із силою, і так проказав: Зрубайте це дерево, і повідрубуйте галуззя його, позривайте віття його, і порозсипайте його плід. Нехай розійдеться з-під нього звірина, а птахи з галуззя його!

He is calling mightily, and thus hath said, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its budding, move away let the beast from under it, and the birds from off its branches;

15 ( 4-12) Та позоставте в землі пня його кореня, але в путах залізних та мідяних, на зеленій польовій траві. І небесною росою нехай він зрошується, а його частка зо звіриною на польовій траві.

but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens is it wet, and with the beasts his portion in the herb of the earth;

16 ( 4-13) Його людське серце змінять, і буде дане йому серце звірине, і сім часів перейдуть над ним.

his heart from man's is changed, and the heart of a beast is given to him, and seven times pass over him;

17 ( 4-14) Через постанову Сторожів Божих це слово, а повідженням Святих ця річ, аж прийде до того, що пізнають живі, що над людським царством панує Всевишній, і кому схоче, дає його, і низького з людей ставить над ним.

by the decree of the sifters the sentence, and by the saying of the holy ones the requirement, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it, and the lowest of men He doth raise up over it.

18 ( 4-15) Оцей сон бачив я, цар Навуходоносор, а ти, Валтасаре, скажи його розв'язку, бо всі мудреці мого царства не можуть сказати мені розв'язки, а ти можеш, бо в тобі дух Святого Бога.

`This dream I have seen, I king Nebuchadnezzar; and thou, O Belteshazzar, the interpretation tell, because that all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to cause me to know the interpretation, and thou able, for the spirit of the holy gods in thee.

19 ( 4-16) Тоді Даниїл, що ім'я йому Валтасар, остовпів на одну годину, і думки його перестрашили його. Цар заговорив та й сказав: Валтасаре, нехай не страшить тебе цей сон та його розв'язка! Валтасар відповів та й сказав: Мій пане, на ворогів би твоїх цей сон, а його розв'язка на твоїх би неприятелів!

`Then Daniel, whose name Belteshazzar, hath been astonished about one hour, and his thoughts do trouble him; the king hath answered and said, O Belteshazzar, let not the dream and its interpretation trouble thee. Belteshazzar hath answered and said, My lord, the dream -- to those hating thee, and its interpretation -- to thine enemies!

20 ( 4-17) Дерево, яке ти бачив, що було велике та міцне, і вишина його сягала до неба, а обвід його на всю землю,

The tree that thou hast seen, that hath become great and strong, and its height doth reach to the heavens, and its vision to all the land,

21 ( 4-18) а віття його гарне, і плід його великий, і в ньому пожива для всіх, під ним мешкала польова звірина, а на його галуззях перебували птахи небесні,

and its leaves fair, and its budding great, and food for all in it, under it dwell doth the beast of the field, and on its boughs sit do the birds of the heavens.

22 ( 4-19) ти, царю, той, що став великий та потужний, і твоя великість побільшилася, і сягнула аж до небес, а панування твоє до кінців землі.

`Thou it, O king, for thou hast become great and mighty, and thy greatness hath become great, and hath reached to the heavens, and thy dominion to the end of the earth;

23 ( 4-20) А що цар бачив Божого Сторожа та Святого, який сходив із небес, і сказав: Зрубайте це дерево, і знищте його, та позоставте в землі пня його кореня, але в путах залізних та мідяних, на зеленій польовій траві; і небесною росою нехай він зрошується, а його частка з польовою звіриною, аж поки перейдуть над ним сім часів,

and that which the king hath seen -- a sifter, even a holy one, coming down from the heavens, and he hath said, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens it is wet, and with the beast of the field his portion, till that seven times pass over him.

24 ( 4-21) то ось розв'язка, царю, і це постанова Всевишнього, що сягає на мого пана царя:

`This the interpretation, O king, and the decree of the Most High it that hath come against my lord the king:

25 ( 4-22) І тебе виженуть від людей, і з польовою звіриною буде пробування твоє, і дадуть тобі їсти траву, як волам, і з небесної роси тебе зросять, і сім часів перейдуть над тобою, аж поки пізнаєш, що над людським царством панує Всевишній, і дає його тому, кому хоче.

and they are driving thee away from men, and with the beast of the field is thy dwelling, and the herb as oxen they do cause thee to eat, and by the dew of the heavens they are wetting thee, and seven times do pass over thee, till that thou knowest that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it.

26 ( 4-23) А що сказали позоставити пня кореня дерева, твоє царство позостанеться тобі, якщо ти пізнаєш, що панує небо.

And that which they said -- to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; thy kingdom for thee abideth, after that thou knowest that the heavens are ruling.

27 ( 4-24) Тому, царю, нехай буде до вподоби моя рада тобі, зламай же свої гріхи справедливістю, а свої провини милістю для вбогих, щоб твій мир був довготривалий.

`Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and thy sins by righteousness break off, and thy perversity by pitying the poor, lo, it is a lengthening of thine ease.

28 ( 4-25) Усе це сталося над царем Навуходоносором.

`All -- hath come on Nebuchadnezzar the king.

29 ( 4-26) На кінці дванадцяти місяців проходжувався він по царському палацу в Вавилоні.

`At the end of twelve months, on the palace of the kingdom of Babylon he hath been walking;

30 ( 4-27) Цар заговорив та й сказав: Чи ж це не величний Вавилон, що я збудував його на дім царства міццю потуги своєї та на славу моєї пишноти?

the king hath answered and said, Is not this that great Babylon that I have built, for the house of the kingdom, in the might of my strength, and for the glory of mine honour?

31 ( 4-28) Ще це слово було в устах царських, коли з неба впав голос: Тобі говорять, царю Навуходоносоре: Оце царство відходить від тебе!

`While the word is the king's mouth a voice from the heavens hath fallen: To thee they are saying: O Nebuchadnezzar the king, the kingdom hath passed from thee,

32 ( 4-29) І від людей тебе відлучать, і з польовою звіриною буде пробування твоє, тобі дадуть на їжу траву, як волам, і сім часів перейдуть над тобою, аж поки не пізнаєш, що над людським царством панує Всевишній, і дає його тому, кому хоче.

and from men they are driving thee away, and with the beast of the field thy dwelling, the herb as oxen they do cause thee to eat, and seven times do pass over thee, till that thou knowest that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it.

33 ( 4-30) Тієї хвилини виконалося це слово над Навуходоносором, і він був відлучений від людей, і їв траву, як воли, і його тіло зрошувалося з небесної роси, аж його волос став великий, як пір'я орлине, а його пазурі як у птахів.

`In that hour the thing hath been fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar, and from men he is driven, and the herb as oxen he eateth, and by the dew of the heavens his body is wet, till that his hair as eagles' hath become great, and his nails as birds.'

34 ( 4-31) А на кінці тих днів я, Навуходоносор, звів свої очі до неба, і мій розум вернувся до мене, й я поблагословив Всевишнього, і вічно Живого хвалив я та славив, що Його панування панування вічне, а царство Його з покоління в покоління.

`And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, mine eyes to the heavens have lifted up, and mine understanding unto me returneth, and the Most High I have blessed, and the Age-during Living One I have praised and honoured, whose dominion a dominion age-during, and His kingdom with generation and generation;

35 ( 4-32) А всі мешканці землі пораховані за ніщо, і Він чинить за Своєю Волею серед небесного війська та мешканців землі, і немає нікого, хто спротивився б Його руці та й сказав би Йому: Що Ти робиш?

and all who are dwelling on the earth as nothing are reckoned, and according to his will He is doing among the forces of the heavens and those dwelling on the earth, and there is none that doth clap with his hand, and saith to Him, What hast Thou done?

36 ( 4-33) Того часу вернувся мій розум до мене, і я вернувся до слави царства свого, і ясність моя вернулася на мене. І шукали мене мої радники та вельможі мої, і над царством своїм я був поставлений знову, і мені була додана дуже велика величність.

`At that time my understanding doth return unto me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honour and my brightness doth return unto me, and to me my counsellors and my great men do seek, and over my kingdom I have been made right, and abundant greatness hath been added to me.

37 ( 4-34) Тепер я, Навуходоносор, хвалю й звеличую та славлю Небесного Царя, що всі чини Його правда, а дорога Його правосуддя, а тих, хто ходить у гордощах, Він може понизити.

`Now, I, Nebuchadnezzar, am praising and exalting and honouring the King of the heavens, for all His works truth, and His paths judgment, and those walking in pride He is able to humble.'
