1 І зміцнився Соломон, син Давидів, над царством своїм, а Господь, Бог його, був із ним та високо звеличив його.

And strengthen himself doth Solomon son of David over his kingdom, and Jehovah his God with him, and maketh him exceedingly great.

2 І сказав Соломон до всього Ізраїля, до тисячників та сотників, і до суддів, і до всіх начальників, до всього Ізраїля, до голів батьківських родів.

And Solomon saith to all Israel, to heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, and to judges, and to every honourable one of all Israel, heads of the fathers,

3 І пішли Соломон та ввесь збір із ним до пагірка, що в Ґів'оні, бо там була скинія Божого заповіту, яку зробив Мойсей, раб Господній, у пустині.

and they go -- Solomon, and all the assembly with him -- to the high place that in Gibeon, for there hath been God's tent of meeting, that Moses, servant of Jehovah, made in the wilderness,

4 А ле Божого ковчега Давид переніс із Кір'ят-Єаріму туди, де приготовив йому місце Давид, бо він поставив йому скинію в Єрусалимі.

but the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem;

5 А мідяного жертівника, що зробив був Веселіїл, син Урії, сина Хурового, він поставив перед скинією Господньою. І звертався до нього Соломон та збір.

and the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it.

6 І зійшов Соломон туди перед Господнє лице на мідяний жертівник, що належав до скинії заповіту, і приніс на ньому тисячу цілопалень.

And Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.

7 Т ієї ночі явився Бог Соломонові та й сказав йому: Зажадай, чого дати тобі!

In that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

8 І сказав Соломон до Бога: Ти зробив був велику милість з батьком моїм Давидом, і настановив царем мене замість нього.

And Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead.

9 Т епер, Господи, Боже, нехай буде виповнене слово Твоє до батька мого Давида, бо Ти настановив мене царем над народом численним, як порох землі.

Now, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth;

10 Д ай тепер мені мудрість та знання, щоб умів я виходити й входити перед цим народом, бо хто зможе судити цей великий Твій народ?

now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?'

11 І сказав Бог до Соломона: За те, що оце було на серці твоїм, і ти не жадав багатства, маєтків та слави, ані душі ворогів своїх, а також довгих днів не жадав ти, а жадав для себе мудрости та знання, щоб судити народ Мій, над яким Я настановив тебе царем,

And God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --

12 т о дасться тобі мудрість та знання, а багатство, і маєтки та славу Я дам тобі такі, яких не було між царями перед тобою, і по тобі не буде таких!

the wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who before thee, and after thee it is not so.'

13 І прийшов Соломон із пагірка, що в Ґів'оні, до Єрусалиму, від скинії заповіту, і зацарював над Ізраїлем.

And Solomon cometh in the high place that in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel,

14 І зібрав Соломон колесниць та верхівців, і було в нього тисяча й чотири сотні колесниць та дванадцять тисяч верхівців, і він порозміщував їх по колесничних містах та при царі в Єрусалимі.

and Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

15 І цар зібрав в Єрусалимі срібла та золота, мов каміння, а кедрів зібрав, щодо численности, як сикомор, що в Шефелі.

And the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that in the low country, for abundance.

16 А коней, що були в Соломона, приводили з Єгипту та з Кеве; царські купці купували їх з Кеве.

And the source of the horses that to Solomon from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price,

17 І ходили вони, і вивозили з Єгипту колесницю за шість сотень срібла, а коня за сотню й п'ятдесят. І так вони вивозили все це своєю рукою для всіх царів хіттійських та царів сирійських.

and they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram -- by their hand they bring out.
