1 І став народ голосно нарікати до Господніх ушей. І почув Господь, і запалав Його гнів, і загорівся між ними Господній огонь, та й пожер їх у кінці табору.

And the people is evil, as those sighing habitually in the ears of Jehovah, and Jehovah heareth, and His anger burneth, and the fire of Jehovah burneth among them, and consumeth in the extremity of the camp.

2 І народ став кричати до Мойсея. А Мойсей помолився до Господа, і погас той огонь.

And the people cry unto Moses, and Moses prayeth unto Jehovah, and the fire is quenched;

3 І він назвав ім'я того місця: Тав'ера, бо між ними горів був Господній огонь.

and he calleth the name of that place Taberah, for the fire of Jehovah hath `burned' among them.

4 А збиранина, що була серед нього, стала вередувати, і також Ізраїлеві сини стали плакати з ними та говорити: Хто нагодує нас м'ясом?

And the rabble who in its midst have lusted greatly, and the sons of Israel also turn back and weep, and say, `Who doth give us flesh?

5 М и згадуємо рибу, що їли в Єгипті даремно, огірки й дині, і пір, і цибулю, і часник.

We have remembered the fish which we do eat in Egypt for nought, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick;

6 А тепер душа наша в'яне, немає нічого, тільки манна нам перед очима.

and now our soul dry, there is not anything, save the manna, before our eyes.'

7 А манна як коріяндрове насіння вона, а вигляд її, як вигляд кришталу.

And the manna is as coriander seed, and its aspect as the aspect of bdolach;

8 Л юди розходилися, і збирали її та мололи жорнами або товкли в ступі, і варили в горшку та й робили з неї калачі. А смак її був, як смак олійного коржа.

the people have turned aside and gathered, and ground with millstones, or beat in a mortar, and boiled in a pan, and made it cakes, and its taste hath been as the taste of the moisture of oil.

9 А коли роса спадала на табір, спадала й та манна на нього.

And in the descending of the dew on the camp by night, the manna descendeth upon it.

10 І почув Мойсей, що народ плаче в родинах своїх, кожен при вході намету свого. І сильно запалав гнів Господній, і в очах Мойсеєвих то було зле.

And Moses heareth the people weeping by its families, each at the opening of his tent, and the anger of Jehovah burneth exceedingly, and in the eyes of Moses evil.

11 І сказав Мойсей до Господа: Нащо вчинив Ти зло своєму рабові, і чому я не знайшов милости в очах Твоїх, що Ти поклав тягара всього народу на мене?

And Moses saith unto Jehovah, `Why hast Thou done evil to Thy servant? and why have I not found grace in Thine eyes -- to put the burden of all this people upon me?

12 Ч и я був вагітний усім тим народом, чи я його породив, що Ти кажеш мені: Неси його на лоні своїм, як мамка носить ссунця, до землі, яку Ти присягнув батькам його?

I -- have I conceived all this people? I -- have I begotten it, that Thou sayest unto me, Carry it in thy bosom as the nursing father beareth the suckling, unto the ground which Thou hast sworn to its fathers?

13 З відки мені взяти м'яса, щоб дати всьому цьому народові? Бо вони плачуть передо мною, говорячи: Дай же нам м'яса, і ми будемо їсти!

Whence have I flesh to give to all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give to us flesh, and we eat.

14 Н е подолаю я сам носити всього цього народа, бо він тяжчий за мене!

I am not able -- I alone -- to bear all this people, for too heavy for me;

15 А якщо Ти таке мені робиш, то краще забий мене, якщо я знайшов милість в очах Твоїх, щоб я не побачив нещастя свого!

and if thus Thou art doing to me -- slay me, I pray Thee; slay, if I have found grace in thine eyes, and let me not look on mine affliction.'

16 І сказав Господь до Мойсея: Збери ж мені сімдесятеро люда зо старших Ізраїлевих, яких знаєш, що вони старші народу та його наглядачі, і візьми їх до скинії заповіту, і стануть вони там із тобою.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou hast known that they are elders of the people, and its authorities; and thou hast taken them unto the tent of meeting, and they have stationed themselves there with thee,

17 І Я зійду, і буду розмовляти там із тобою, і візьму від Духа, що на тобі, і покладу на них, і вони носитимуть із тобою тягара того народу, і не будеш носити ти сам.

and I have come down and spoken with thee there, and have kept back of the Spirit which upon thee, and have put on them, and they have borne with thee some of the burden of the people, and thou dost not bear thyself alone.

18 А до народу скажи: Освятіться назавтра, і будете їсти м'ясо, бо ви плакали до Господніх ушей, говорячи: Хто дасть нам їсти м'яса, бо добре було нам в Єгипті? І дасть Господь вам м'яса, і ви будете їсти.

`And unto the people thou dost say, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow, and ye have eaten flesh (for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who doth give us flesh? for we good in Egypt) -- and Jehovah hath given to you flesh, and ye have eaten.

19 Н е один день будете ви їсти, і не два дні, і не п'ять день, і не десять день, і не двадцять день,

Ye do not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days; --

20 а ле цілий місяць, аж поки не вийде воно з ваших ніздрів, і стане вам на огиду, бо ви знехтували собі Господа, що серед вас, і плакали перед лицем Його, говорячи: Чого це ми вийшли з Єгипту?

unto a month of days, till that it come out from your nostrils, and it hath become to you an abomination; because that ye have loathed Jehovah, who in your midst, and weep before Him, saying, Why is this? -- we have come out of Egypt!'

21 І сказав Мойсей: Шістсот тисяч піхоти той народ, що я серед нього, а Ти сказав: Я дам їм м'яса, і вони будуть їсти місяць часу.

And Moses saith, `Six hundred thousand footmen the people in whose midst I; and Thou, Thou hast said, Flesh I give to them, and they have eaten, a month of days!

22 Ч и худоба дрібна та худоба велика заріжеться для них, і вистачить їм? Чи також збереться для них уся морська риба, і вистачить їм?

Is flock and herd slaughtered for them, that one hath found for them? -- are all the fishes of the sea gathered for them -- that one hath found for them?'

23 А Господь сказав до Мойсея: Чи Господня рука буває коротка? Тепер ти побачиш, чи сповниться тобі Моє слово, чи ні.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Is the hand of Jehovah become short? now thou dost see whether My word meeteth thee or not.'

24 І вийшов Мойсей, і промовляв до того народу Господні слова. І зібрав він сімдесятеро чоловіка зо старших народу, і поставив їх навколо скинії.

And Moses goeth out, and speaketh unto the people the words of Jehovah, and gathereth seventy men of the elders of the people, and causeth them to stand round about the tent,

25 І зійшов Господь у хмарі, та й промовляв до нього, і взяв від Духа, що на ньому, і дав на сімдесят чоловіка старших. І сталося, як спочив на них Дух той, то вони стали пророкувати, та потім перестали.

and Jehovah cometh down in the cloud, and speaketh unto him, and keepeth back of the Spirit which on him, and putteth on the seventy men of the elders; and it cometh to pass at the resting of the Spirit on them, that they prophesy, and do not cease.

26 І зосталося двоє людей в таборі, ім'я одному Елдад, а ймення другому Медад. І спочив на них Дух; а вони були серед записаних, та не вийшли до скинії, і пророкували в таборі.

And two of the men are left in the camp, the name of the one Eldad, and the name of the second Medad, and the spirit resteth upon them, (and they are among those written, and have not gone out to the tent), and they prophesy in the camp;

27 І побіг юнак, і промовив до Мойсея й сказав: Елдад і Медад пророкують у таборі!

and the young man runneth, and declareth to Moses, and saith, `Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.'

28 І відповів Ісус, син Навинів, Мойсеїв слуга від своєї молодости, та й сказав: Пане мій Мойсею, заборони їм!

And Joshua son of Nun, minister of Moses, of his young men, answereth and saith, `My lord Moses, restrain them.'

29 І сказав йому Мойсей: Чи ти заздрісний за мене? О, якби то ввесь Господній народ став пророками, коли б дав Господь Духа Свого і на них!

And Moses saith to him, `Art thou zealous for me? O that all Jehovah's people were prophets! that Jehovah would put His Spirit upon them!'

30 І вернувся Мойсей до табору, він та старші Ізраїлеві.

And Moses is gathered unto the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

31 І знявся вітер від Господа, і навіяв перепелиці від моря, і опустив їх над табором, як денна дорога туди й як денна дорога сюди навколо табору, і коло двох ліктів на поверхні землі.

And a spirit hath journeyed from Jehovah, and cutteth off quails from the sea, and leaveth by the camp, as a day's journey here, and as a day's journey there, round about the camp, and about two cubits, on the face of the land.

32 І встав народ, і цілий той день і цілу ту ніч, і цілий день назавтра збирали перепелицю. Хто збирав мало, той зібрав десять хомерів, і порозкладали їх собі скрізь навколо табору.

And the people rise all that day, and all the night, and all the day after, and gather the quails -- he who hath least hath gathered ten homers -- and they spread them out for themselves round about the camp.

33 Т е м'ясо було ще між їхніми зубами, поки було пожуване, а гнів Господній запалився на народ! І вдарив Господь дуже великою поразкою в народ...

The flesh is yet between their teeth -- it is not yet cut off -- and the anger of Jehovah hath burned among the people, and Jehovah smiteth among the people -- a very great smiting;

34 І названо ймення того місця: Ківрот-Гаттаава, бо там поховали народ пожадливий.

and calleth the name of that place Kibroth-Hattaavah, for there they have buried the people who lust.

35 З Ківрот-Гаттаави рушили люди до Гацероту, і були в Гацероті.

From Kibroth-Hattaavah have the people journeyed to Hazeroth, and they are in Hazeroth.
