1 І рушили вони з Єліму, і вся громада Ізраїлевих синів прибула до пустині Сін, що між Єлімом та між Сінаєм, п'ятнадцятого дня другого місяця по виході їх з єгипетського краю.

And they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

2 І стала ремствувати вся громада Ізраїлевих синів на Мойсея та на Аарона в пустині.

And all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

3 І говорили їм Ізраїлеві сини: Коли б ми були повмирали від Господньої руки в єгипетськім краї, як ми сиділи над горшком м'яса, як ми їли хліба досить! Бо ви вивели нас до цієї пустині, щоб поморити голодом увесь цей збір...

and the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

4 І промовив Господь до Мойсея: Ось Я спускатиму вам дощем хліб із неба, а народ виходитиме й щоденно збиратиме, скільки треба на день, щоб випробувати його, чи буде він ходити в Моєму Законі, чи ні.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

5 А настане шостий день, то приготують, що принесуть, і буде подвійне супроти того, що збирають день-у-день.

and it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

6 І сказали Мойсей та Аарон до всіх Ізраїлевих синів: Настане вечір і ви довідаєтеся, що Господь вивів вас із єгипетського краю.

And Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

7 А настане ранок, то побачите славу Господню, бо Він почув ваші ремствування на Господа. А ми що, що ви ремствуєте на нас?

and morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

8 І сказав Мойсей: Довідаєтесь, як увечорі Господь дасть вам м'яса на їжу, а рано хліба на насичення, бо почув Господь ремствування ваші, що ви ремствуєте на Нього. А ми що? Не на нас ремствування ваше, а на Господа!

And Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

9 І сказав Мойсей до Аарона: Скажи всій громаді Ізраїлевих синів: Наблизьтеся перед лице Господа, бо Він почув ваші ремствування!

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

10 І сталося, коли говорив Аарон до всієї громади Ізраїлевих синів, то обернулися вони до пустині, аж ось слава Господня показалася в хмарі!

and it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

11 І промовив Господь до Мойсея, говорячи:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

12 Я почув ремствування Ізраїлевих синів. Промовляй до них, кажучи: Під вечір будете їсти м'ясо, а рано насититесь хлібом, і познаєте, що Я Господь, Бог ваш!

`I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

13 І сталося ввечорі, і знялися перепелиці, і покрили табір. А рано була верства роси навколо табору.

And it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

14 І піднялася верства тієї роси, аж ось на поверхні пустині щось дрібне, вузькувате, дрібне, немов паморозь на землі.

and the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

15 І побачили Ізраїлеві сини, та й казали один до одного: Ман гу?, бо не знали, що то. А Мойсей відказав їм: Це той хліб, що дав вам Господь на їжу.

And the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

16 Ц е те, що про нього Господь наказав: Збирайте з нього кожен у міру їди своєї, гомер на голову, за числом ваших душ: візьміть кожен для того, хто в наметі його.

`This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

17 І зробили так Ізраїлеві сини, і назбирали хто більше, а хто менше.

And the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

18 І зміряли вони гомером, і не мав зайвого той, хто зібрав більше, а хто зібрав менше, не мав нестачі, зібрали кожен у міру своєї їди!

and they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

19 І сказав до них Мойсей: Нехай ніхто не лишає з нього до ранку!

And Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

20 Т а не послухали вони Мойсея, і дехто позоставляли з нього до ранку, а воно зачервивіло, і стало смердюче. І розгнівався на них Мойсей!

and they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

21 І збирали його щоранку, кожен у міру своєї їди. А розгрівалося сонце і воно розтавало.

And they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

22 І сталося шостого дня, поназбирували вони хліба подвійно, два гомери на одного. І посходилися всі начальники громади, і розповіли Мойсеєві.

And it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

23 А він сказав до них: Це те, що говорив Господь: Повний спокій, субота свята для Господа взавтра. Що будете пекти печіть, а що будете варити варіть, а все позостале покладіть собі на сховок до ранку.

And he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

24 І поклали його аж до ранку, як Мойсей наказав, і не засмерділось воно, і черви не було в нім.

And they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

25 І сказав Мойсей: Їжте його сьогодні, бо сьогодні субота для Господа. Сьогодні не знайдете його на полі.

And Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

26 Ш ість день будете збирати його, а дня сьомого субота: не буде в ній того.

six days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

27 І сталося сьомого дня, повиходили були з народу збирати, та не знайшли.

And it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

28 І сказав Господь до Мойсея: Аж доки ви будете відмовлятися виконувати заповіді Мої та закони Мої?

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

29 П обачте, Господь дав вам суботу, тому Він дає вам шостого дня хліба двох днів. Сидіть кожен у себе, нехай сьомого дня не виходить ніхто з свого місця!

see, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

30 І сьомого дня народ відпочивав.

And the people rest on the seventh day,

31 І назвав Ізраїлів дім ім'я тому: манна. Вона була, як коріяндрове насіння, біла, а смак її, як тісто в меду.

and the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

32 І сказав Мойсей: Оце те, що наказав Господь: Наповни нею гомер на сховок для ваших поколінь, щоб бачили той хліб, яким Я годував вас на пустині, коли Я виводив вас із єгипетського краю.

And Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

33 І сказав Мойсей до Аарона: Візьми одну посудину, і поклади туди повний гомер манни, і постав її перед Господнім лицем на сховок для ваших поколінь.

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

34 І як наказав Бог Мойсею, так поставив її Аарон перед ковчегом свідоцтва на сховок.

as Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

35 А Ізраїлеві сини їли ту манну сорок літ, аж до прибуття їх до краю заселеного, їли манну аж до приходу їх до границі ханаанського Краю.

And the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

36 А гомер він десята частина ефи.

and the omer is a tenth of the ephah.
