1 T oată adunarea copiilor lui Israel a plecat din Elim; şi au ajuns în pustia Sin, care este între Elim şi Sinai, în a cincisprezecea zi a lunii a doua după ieşirea lor din ţara Egiptului.

And they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

2 Ş i toată adunarea copiilor lui Israel a cîrtit în pustia aceea împotriva lui Moise şi Aaron.

And all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

3 C opiii lui Israel le-au zis:,, Cum de n'am murit loviţi de mîna Domnului în ţara Egiptului, cînd şedeam lîngă oalele noastre cu carne, cînd mîncam pîne de ne săturam? Căci ne-aţi adus în pustia aceasta ca să faceţi să moară de foame toată mulţimea aceasta.``

and the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

4 D omnul a zis lui Moise:,, Iată că voi face să vă ploaie pîne din ceruri. Poporul va ieşi afară, şi va strînge, cît îi trebuie pentru fiecare zi, ca să -l pun la încercare, şi să văd dacă va umbla sau nu după legea Mea.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

5 Î n ziua a şasea, cînd vor pregăti ce au adus acasă, vor avea de două ori mai mult de cît vor strînge în fiecare zi.``

and it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

6 M oise şi Aaron au zis tuturor copiilor lui Israel:,, Astăseară, veţi înţelege că Domnul este Acela, care v'a scos din ţara Egiptului.

And Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

7 Ş i mîne dimineaţă, veţi vedea slava Domnului; pentrucă v'a auzit cîrtirile împotriva Domnului; căci ce sîntem noi, ca să cîrtiţi împotriva noastră?``

and morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

8 M oise a zis:,, Domnul vă va da astăseară carne de mîncat, şi mîne dimineaţă vă va da pîne să vă săturaţi, pentrucă a auzit Domnul cîrtirile, pe cari le-aţi rostit împotriva Lui; căci ce sîntem noi? Cîrtirile voastre nu se îndreaptă împotriva noastră, ci împotriva Domnului.``

And Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

9 M oise a zis lui Aaron:,, Spune întregei adunări a copiilor lui Israel:, Apropiaţi-vă înaintea Domnului; căci v'a auzit cîrtirile.``

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

10 Ş i, pe cînd vorbea Aaron întregei adunări a lui Israel, s'au uitat înspre pustie, şi iată că slava Domnului s'a arătat în nor.

and it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

11 D omnul, vorbind lui Moise, a zis:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

12 A m auzit cîrtirile copiilor lui Israel. Spune-le:,Între cele două seri aveţi să mîncaţi carne, şi dimineaţa vă veţi sătura de pîne; şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.``

`I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

13 S eara, au venit nişte prepeliţe şi au acoperit tabăra; şi, dimineaţa, s'a aşezat un strat gros de rouă în jurul taberii.

And it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

14 C înd s'a luat roua aceasta, pe faţa pustiei era ceva mărunt ca nişte grăunţe, mărunt ca bobiţele de ghiaţă albă pe pămînt.

and the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

15 C opiii lui Israel s'au uitat la ea, şi au zis unul către altul:,, Ce este aceasta?`` căci nu ştiau ce este. Moise le -a zis:,, Este pînea, pe care v'o dă Domnul ca hrană.

And the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

16 I ată ce a poruncit Domnul:, Fiecare din voi să strîngă cît îi trebuie pentru hrană, şi anume un omer de cap, după numărul sufletelor voastre; fiecare să ia din ea pentru cei din cortul lui.``

`This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

17 I sraeliţii au făcut aşa; şi au strîns unii mai mult, alţii mai puţin.

And the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

18 Î n urmă o măsurau cu omerul, şi cine strînsese mai mult, n'avea nimic de prisos, iar cine strînsese mai puţin, nu ducea lipsă de loc. Fiecare strîngea tocmai cît îi trebuia pentru hrană.

and they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

19 M oise le -a zis:,, Nimeni să nu lase ceva din ea pînă a doua zi dimineaţă.``

And Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

20 N 'au ascultat de Moise, şi s'au găsit unii, care au lăsat ceva din ea pînă dimineaţa; dar a făcut viermi şi s'a împuţit. Moise s'a mîniat pe oamenii aceia.

and they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

21 A stfel, în toate dimineţile, fiecare strîngea cît îi trebuia pentru hrană; şi, cînd venea căldura soarelui, se topea.

And they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

22 Î n ziua a şasea, au strîns hrană îndoit, şi anume doi omeri de fiecare. Toţi fruntaşii adunării au venit şi au spus lui Moise lucrul acesta.

And it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

23 Ş i Moise le -a zis:,, Domnul a poruncit aşa. Mîne este ziua de odihnă, Sabatul închinat Domnului; coaceţi ce aveţi de copt, fierbeţi ce aveţi de fiert, şi păstraţi pînă a doua zi dimineaţa tot ce va rămînea!``

And he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

24 A u lăsat -o pînă a doua zi dimineaţa, cum poruncise Moise; şi nu s'a împuţit, şi n'a făcut viermi.

And they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

25 M oise a zis:,, Mîncaţi -o azi, căci este ziua Sabatului; azi nu veţi găsi mană pe cîmp.

And Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

26 V eţi strînge timp de şase zile; dar în ziua a şaptea, care este Sabatul, nu va fi.``

six days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

27 Î n ziua a şaptea, unii din popor au ieşit să strîngă mană, şi n'au găsit.

And it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

28 A tunci Domnul a zis lui Moise:,, Pînă cînd aveţi de gînd să nu păziţi poruncile şi legile Mele?

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

29 V edeţi că Domnul v'a dat Sabatul; de aceia vă dă în ziua a şasea hrană pentru două zile. Fiecare să rămînă la locul lui, şi, în ziua a şaptea, nimeni să nu iasă din locul în care se găseşte.``

see, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

30 Ş i poporul s'a odihnit în ziua a şaptea.

And the people rest on the seventh day,

31 C asa lui Israel a numit hrana aceasta,, mană``. Ea semăna cu bobul de coriandru; era albă, şi avea un gust de turtă cu miere.

and the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

32 M oise a zis:,, Iată ce a poruncit Domnul:, Să se păstreze un omer plin cu mană pentru urmaşii voştri, ca să vadă şi ei pînea pe care v'am dat -o s'o mîncaţi în pustie, după ce v'am scos din ţara Egiptului.``

And Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

33 Ş i Moise a zis lui Aaron:,, Ia un vas, pune în el un omer plin cu mană, şi aşează -l înaintea Domnului, ca să fie păstrat pentru urmaşii voştri.``

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

34 D upă porunca dată de Domnul lui Moise, Aaron l'a pus înaintea chivotului mărturiei, ca să fie păstrat.

as Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

35 C opiii lui Israel au mîncat mană patruzeci de ani, pînă la sosirea lor într -o ţară locuită; au mîncat mană pînă la sosirea lor la hotarele ţării Canaanului.

And the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

36 O merul este a zecea parte dintr'o efă.

and the omer is a tenth of the ephah.
