1 Î n vremea aceea, Ezechia a fost bolnav pe moarte. Proorocul Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, a venit la el, şi i -a zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Pune-ţi în rînduială casa, căci vei muri, şi nu vei mai trăi.``

In those days hath Hezekiah been sick unto death, and come in unto him doth Isaiah son of Amoz, the prophet, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah: Give a charge to thy house, for thou dying, and dost not live.'

2 E zechia s'a întors cu faţa la părete, şi a făcut Domnului următoarea rugăciune:

And Hezekiah turneth round his face unto the wall, and prayeth unto Jehovah,

3 D oamne, adu-Ţi aminte că am umblat înaintea Ta cu credincioşie şi inimă curată, şi am făcut ce este bine înaintea Ta!`` Şi Ezechia a vărsat multe lacrămi.

and saith, `I pray thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which good in thine eyes I have done;' and Hezekiah weepeth -- a great weeping.

4 A tunci cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Isaia astfel:

And a word of Jehovah is unto Isaiah, saying,

5 D u-te, şi spune lui Ezechia:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul tatălui tău David:, Am auzit rugăciunea ta şi am văzut lacrămile tale. Iată că voi mai adăuga încă cincisprezece ani la zilele vieţii tale.

Go, and thou hast said to Hezekiah, Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, `I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I am adding to thy days fifteen years,

6 T e voi izbăvi pe tine şi cetatea aceasta, din mîna împăratului Asiriei; voi ocroti cetatea aceasta.

and out of the hand of the king of Asshur I deliver thee and this city, and have covered over this city.

7 Ş i iată semnul din partea Domnului după care vei cunoaşte că Domnul va împlini cuvîntul pe care l -a rostit:

And this to thee the sign from Jehovah, that Jehovah doth this thing that He hath spoken.

8 v oi întoarce înapoi cu zece trepte umbra treptelor cu care s'a pogorît soarele pe cadranul lui Ahaz.`` Şi soarele s'a dat înapoi cu zece trepte de pe treptele pe cari se pogorîse.

Lo, I am bringing back the shadow of the degrees that it hath gone down on the degrees of Ahaz, by the sun, backward ten degrees:' and the sun turneth back ten degrees in the degrees that it had gone down.

9 C întarea lui Ezechia, împăratul lui Iuda, cu prilejul bolii şi însănătoşerii lui.

A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah concerning his being sick, when he reviveth from his sickness:

10 Z iceam:,În cei mai buni ani ai vieţii mele trebuie să mă duc la porţile locuinţei morţilor! Sînt pedepsit cu perderea celorlalţi ani ai mei, cari-mi mai rămîn!

`I -- I said in the cutting off of my days, I go in to the gates of Sheol, I have numbered the remnant of mine years.

11 Z iceam:, Nu voi mai vedea pe Domnul, pe Domnul, în pămîntul celor vii; nu voi mai vedea pe niciun om în locuinţa morţilor!

I said, I do not see Jah -- Jah! In the land of the living, I do not behold man any more, With the inhabitants of the world.

12 L ocuinţa mea este luată şi mutată dela mine, ca o colibă de păstori. Îmi simt firul vieţii tăiat ca de un ţesător, care m'ar rupe din ţesătura lui. Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

My sojourning hath departed, And been removed from me as a shepherd's tent, I have drawn together, as a weaver, my life, By weakness it cutteth me off, From day unto night Thou dost end me.

13 A m strigat pînă dimineaţa; ca un leu, îmi zdrobise toate oasele! Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

I have set till morning as a lion, So doth He break all my bones, From day unto night Thou dost end me.

14 C iripeam ca o rîndunea, croncăneam ca un cocor, şi gemeam ca o porumbiţă. Ochii-mi priveau topiţi spre cer:, Doamne, sînt în necaz, ajută-mă!`

As a crane -- a swallow -- so I chatter, I mourn as a dove, Drawn up have been mine eyes on high, O Jehovah, oppression on me, be my surety.

15 C e să mai spun? El mi -a răspuns şi m'a ascultat. Acum voi umbla smerit pînă la capătul anilor mei, dupăce am fost întristat astfel.

-- What do I say? seeing He said to me, And He Himself hath wrought, I go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul.

16 D oamne, prin îndurarea Ta se bucură omul de viaţă, prin ea mai am şi eu suflare, căci Tu mă faci sănătos şi îmi dai iarăş viaţa.

Lord, by these do live, And by all in them the life of my spirit, And Thou savest me, make me also to live,

17 I ată, chiar suferinţele mele erau spre mîntuirea mea; Tu ai găsit plăcere să-mi scoţi sufletul din groapa putrezirii. Căci ai aruncat înapoia Ta toate păcatele mele!

Lo, to peace He changed for me bitterness, And Thou hast delighted in my soul without corruption, For Thou hast cast behind Thy back all my sins.

18 C ăci nu locuinţa morţilor Te laudă, nu moartea Te măreşte, şi cei ce s'au pogorît în groapă nu mai nădăjduiesc în credincioşia Ta.

For Sheol doth not confess Thee, Death doth not praise Thee, Those going down to the pit hope not for Thy truth.

19 C i cel viu, da, cel viu Te laudă, ca mine astăzi. Tatăl face cunoscut copiilor săi credincioşia Ta.

The living, the living, he doth confess Thee.

20 D omnul m'a mîntuit! De aceea, în toate zilele vieţii noastre vom suna din coardele instrumentelor noastre, în Casa Domnului.``

Like myself to-day -- a father to sons Doth make known of Thy faithfulness, O Jehovah -- to save me: And my songs we sing all days of our lives In the house of Jehovah.'

21 I saia zisese:,, Să se aducă o turtă de smochine, şi s'o întindă peste bubă; şi Ezechia va trăi.``

And Isaiah saith, `Let them take a bunch of figs, and plaster over the ulcer, and he liveth.'

22 Ş i Ezechia zisese:,, După ce semn voi cunoaşte că mă voi sui la Casa Domnului?``

And Hezekiah saith, `What the sign that I go up to the house of Jehovah!'
