And it cometh to pass that Isaac aged, and his eyes are too dim for seeing, and he calleth Esau his elder son, and saith unto him, `My son;' and he saith unto him, `Here I.'

2 I saac a zis:,, Iacă am îmbătrînit, şi nu ştiu ziua morţii mele.

And he saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have become aged, I have not known the day of my death;

3 A cum dar, te rog, ia-ţi armele, tolba şi arcul, du-te la cîmp, şi adu-mi vînat.

and now, take up, I pray thee, thy instruments, thy quiver, and thy bow, and go out to the field, and hunt for me provision,

4 F ă-mi o mîncare, cum îmi place mie, şi adu-mi s'o mănînc, ca să te binecuvinteze sufletul meu înainte de a muri.``

and make for me tasteful things, as I have loved, and bring in to me, and I do eat, so that my soul doth bless thee before I die.'

5 R ebeca a ascultat ce spunea Isaac fiului său Esau. Şi Esau s'a dus la cîmp, ca să prindă vînatul şi să -l aducă.

And Rebekah is hearkening while Isaac is speaking unto Esau his son; and Esau goeth to the field to hunt provision -- to bring in;

6 A poi Rebeca a zis fiului său Iacov:,, Iată, am auzit pe tatăl tău vorbind astfel fratelui tău Esau:

and Rebekah hath spoken unto Jacob her son, saying, `Lo, I have heard thy father speaking unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 A du-mi vînat, şi fă-mi o mîncare ca să mănînc; şi te voi binecuvînta înaintea Domnului, înainte de moartea mea.``

Bring for me provision, and make for me tasteful things, and I do eat, and bless thee before Jehovah before my death.

8 A cum, fiule, ascultă sfatul meu, şi fă ce îţi poruncesc.

`And now, my son, hearken to my voice, to that which I am commanding thee:

9 D u-te de ia-mi din turmă doi iezi buni, ca să fac din ei tatălui tău o mîncare gustoasă cum îi place;

Go, I pray thee, unto the flock, and take for me from thence two good kids of the goats, and I make them tasteful things for thy father, as he hath loved;

10 t u ai s'o duci tatălui tău s'o mănînce, ca să te binecuvinteze înainte de moartea lui.``

and thou hast taken in to thy father, and he hath eaten, so that his soul doth bless thee before his death.

11 I acov a răspuns mamei sale:,, Iată, fratele meu Esau este păros, iar eu n'am păr deloc.

And Jacob saith unto Rebekah his mother, `Lo, Esau my brother a hairy man, and I a smooth man,

12 P oate că tatăl meu mă va pipăi, şi voi trece drept mincinos înaintea lui, şi, în loc de binecuvîntare, voi face să vină peste mine blestemul.``

it may be my father doth feel me, and I have been in his eyes as a deceiver, and have brought upon me disesteem, and not a blessing;'

13 M amă-sa i -a zis:,, Blestemul acesta, fiule, să cadă peste mine! Ascultă numai sfatul meu, şi du-te de adu-mi -i.``

and his mother saith to him, `On me thy disesteem, my son; only hearken to my voice, and go, take for me.'

14 I acov s'a dus de i -a luat, şi i -a adus mamei sale, care a făcut o mîncare, cum îi plăcea tatălui său.

And he goeth, and taketh, and bringeth to his mother, and his mother maketh tasteful things, as his father hath loved;

15 Î n urmă, Rebeca a luat hainele cele bune ale lui Esau, fiul ei cel mai mare, cari se găseau acasă, şi le -a pus pe Iacov, fiul ei cel mai tînăr.

and Rebekah taketh the desirable garments of Esau her elder son, which with her in the house, and doth put on Jacob her younger son;

and the skins of the kids of the goats she hath put on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck,

and she giveth the tasteful things, and the bread which she hath made, into the hand of Jacob her son.

18 E l a venit la tatăl său, şi a zis:,, Tată!``,, Iată-mă``, a zis Isaac.,, Cine eşti tu, fiule?``

And he cometh in unto his father, and saith, `My father;' and he saith, `Here I; who thou, my son?'

19 I acov a răspuns tatălui său:,, Eu sînt Esau, fiul tău cel mai mare; am făcut ce mi-ai spus. Scoală-te, rogu-te, şezi de mănîncă din vînatul meu, pentru ca să mă binecuvinteze sufletul tău!``

And Jacob saith unto his father, `I Esau thy first-born; I have done as thou hast spoken unto me; rise, I pray thee, sit, and eat of my provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'

20 I saac a zis fiului său:,, Cum, l-ai şi găsit, fiule?`` Şi Iacov a răspuns:,, Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, mi l -a scos înainte.``

And Isaac saith unto his son, `What this thou hast hasted to find, my son?' and he saith, `That which Jehovah thy God hath caused to come before me.'

21 I saac a zis lui Iacov:,, Apropie-te dar, să te pipăi, fiule, ca să ştiu dacă eşti cu adevărat fiul meu Esau, sau nu.``

And Isaac saith unto Jacob, `Come nigh, I pray thee, and I feel thee, my son, whether thou he, my son Esau, or not.'

22 I acov s'a apropiat de tatăl său Isaac, care l -a pipăit, şi a zis:,, Glasul este glasul lui Iacov, dar mînile sînt mînile lui Esau.``

And Jacob cometh nigh unto Isaac his father, and he feeleth him, and saith, `The voice the voice of Jacob, and the hands hands of Esau.'

23 N u l -a cunoscut, pentrucă mînile îi erau păroase, ca mînile fratelui său Esau; şi l -a binecuvîntat.

And he hath not discerned him, for his hands have been hairy, as the hands of Esau his brother, and he blesseth him,

24 I saac a zis:,, Tu eşti deci fiul meu Esau?`` Şi Iacov a răspuns:,, Eu sînt.``

and saith, `Thou art he -- my son Esau?' and he saith, `I.'

25 I saac a zis:,, Adu-mi să mănînc din vînatul fiului meu, ca sufletul meu să te binecuvinteze.`` Iacov i -a adus, şi el a mîncat; i -a adus şi vin, şi a băut.

And he saith, `Bring nigh to me, and I do eat of my son's provision, so that my soul doth bless thee;' and he bringeth nigh to him, and he eateth; and he bringeth to him wine, and he drinketh.

26 A tunci tatăl său Isaac i -a zis:,, Apropie-te dar, şi sărută-mă, fiule.``

And Isaac his father saith to him, `Come nigh, I pray thee, and kiss me, my son;'

27 I acov s'a apropiat, şi l -a sărutat. Isaac a simţit mirosul hainelor lui; apoi l -a binecuvîntat, şi a zis:,, Iată, mirosul fiului meu este ca mirosul unui cîmp, pe care l -a binecuvîntat Domnul.

and he cometh nigh, and kisseth him, and he smelleth the fragrance of his garments, and blesseth him, and saith, `See, the fragrance of my son as the fragrance of a field which Jehovah hath blessed;

28 S ă-ţi dea Dumnezeu rouă din cer, Şi grăsimea pămîntului, Grîu şi vin din belşug!

and God doth give to thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of corn and wine;

29 S ă-ţi fie supuse noroade, Şi neamuri să se închine înaintea ta! Să fii stăpînul fraţilor tăi, Şi fiii mamei tale să se închine înaintea ta! Blestemat să fie oricine te va blestema, Şi binecuvîntat să fie oricine te va binecuvînta.``

peoples serve thee, and nations bow themselves to thee, be thou mighty over thy brethren, and the sons of thy mother bow themselves to thee; those who curse thee cursed, and those who bless thee blessed.'

30 I saac sfîrşise de binecuvîntat pe Iacov, şi abea plecase Iacov dela tatăl său Isaac, cînd fratele său Esau s'a întors dela vînătoare.

And it cometh to pass, as Isaac hath finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob is only just going out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother hath come in from his hunting;

31 A făcut şi el o mîncare gustoasă, pe care a adus -o tatălui său. Şi a zis tatălui său:,, Tată, scoală-te şi mănîncă din vînatul fiului tău, pentruca să mă binecuvinteze sufletul tău!``

and he also maketh tasteful things, and bringeth to his father, and saith to his father, `Let my father arise, and eat of his son's provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'

32 T atăl său Isaac i -a zis:,, Cine eşti tu?`` Şi el a răspuns:,, Eu sînt fiul tău cel mai mare, Esau.``

And Isaac his father saith to him, `Who thou?' and he saith, `I thy son, thy first-born, Esau;'

33 I saac s'a spăimîntat foarte tare, şi a zis:,, Cine este atunci cel ce a prins vînat, şi mi l -a adus? Eu am mîncat din toate, înainte de a veni tu, şi l-am binecuvîntat. Deaceea va rămînea binecuvîntat.

and Isaac trembleth a very great trembling, and saith, `Who, now, he who hath provided provision, and bringeth in to me, and I eat of all before thou comest in, and I bless him? -- yea, blessed is he.'

34 C înd a auzit Esau cuvintele tatălui său, a scos mari ţipete, pline de amărăciune, şi a zis tatălui său:,, Binecuvintează-mă şi pe mine, tată!``

When Esau heareth the words of his father, then he crieth a very great and bitter cry, and saith to his father, `Bless me, me also, O my father;'

35 I saac a zis:,, Fratele tău a venit cu vicleşug, şi ţi -a luat binecuvîntarea.``

and he saith, `Thy brother hath come with subtilty, and taketh thy blessing.'

36 E sau a zis:,, Da, nu degeaba i-au pus numele Iacov; căci m'a înşelat de două ori. Mi -a luat dreptul de întîi născut, şi iată -l acum că a venit de mi -a luat şi binecuvîntarea!`` Şi a zis:,, N-ai păstrat nici o binecuvîntare pentru mine?``

And he saith, `Is it because called his name Jacob that he doth take me by the heel these two times? my birthright he hath taken; and lo, now, he hath taken my blessing;' he saith also, `Hast thou not kept back a blessing for me?'

37 I saac a răspuns, şi a zis lui Esau:,, Iată, l-am făcut stăpîn peste tine, şi i-am dat ca slujitori pe toţi fraţii lui, l-am înzestrat cu grîu şi vin din belşug: ce mai pot face oare pentru tine, fiule?``

And Isaac answereth and saith to Esau, `Lo, a mighty one have I set him over thee, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants, and corn and wine have I sustained him; and for thee now, what shall I do, my son?'

38 E sau a zis tatălui său:,, N'ai decît această singură binecuvîntare, tată? Binecuvintează-mă şi pe mine, tată!`` Şi Esau a ridicat glasul şi a plîns.

And Esau saith unto his father, `One blessing hast thou my father? bless me, me also, O my father;' and Esau lifteth up his voice, and weepeth.

39 T atăl său Isaac a răspuns, şi i -a zis:,, Iată! Locuinţa ta va fi lipsită de grăsimea pămîntului Şi de roua cerului, de sus.

And Isaac his father answereth and saith unto him, `Lo, of the fatness of the earth is thy dwelling, and of the dew of the heavens from above;

40 V ei trăi din sabia ta, Şi vei sluji fratelui tău; Dar cînd te vei răscula, Vei scutura jugul lui de pe gîtul tău!``

and by thy sword dost thou live, and thy brother dost thou serve; and it hath come to pass when thou rulest, that thou hast broken his yoke from off thy neck.'

41 E sau a prins ură pe Iacov, din pricina binecuvîntării, cu care -l binecuvîntase tatăl său. Şi Esau zicea în inima sa:,, Zilele de bocet pentru tatăl meu sînt aproape, şi apoi am să ucid pe fratele meu Iacov.``

And Esau hateth Jacob, because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau saith in his heart, `The days of mourning my father draw near, and I slay Jacob my brother.'

42 Ş i au spus Rebecii cuvintele lui Esau, fiul ei cel mai mare. Ea a trimes atunci de a chemat pe Iacov, fiul ei cel mai tînăr, şi i -a zis:,, Iată, fratele tău Esau vrea să se răsbune pe tine, omorîndu-te.

And the words of Esau her elder son are declared to Rebekah, and she sendeth and calleth for Jacob her younger son, and saith unto him, `Lo, Esau thy brother is comforting himself in regard to thee -- to slay thee;

43 A cum, fiule, ascultă sfatul meu: scoală-te, fugi la fratele meu Laban în Haran;

and now, my son, hearken to my voice, and rise, flee for thyself unto Laban my brother, to Haran,

44 ş i rămîi la el cîtăva vreme, pînă se va potoli mînia fratelui tău,

and thou hast dwelt with him some days, till thy brother's fury turn back,

45 p înă va trece dela tine urgia fratelui tău, şi va uita ce i-ai făcut. Atunci voi trimete să te cheme. Pentru ce să fiu lipsită de voi amîndoi într'o zi?``

till thy brother's anger turn back from thee, and he hath forgotten that which thou hast done to him, and I have sent and taken thee from thence; why am I bereaved even of you both the same day?'

46 R ebeca a zis lui Isaac:,, M'am scîrbit de viaţă, din pricina fetelor lui Het. Dacă Iacov va lua o asemenea nevastă, dintre fetele lui Het, dintre fetele ţării acesteia, la ce-mi mai este bună viaţa?``

And Rebekah saith unto Isaac, `I have been disgusted with my life because of the presence of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these -- from the daughters of the land -- why do I live?'
