1 Î mpărăteasa din Seba a auzit de faima lui Solomon, şi a venit la Ierusalim ca să -l încerce prin întrebări grele. Ea avea un alai foarte mare, şi cămile încărcate cu mirodenii, aur mult de tot şi pietre scumpe. S'a dus la Solomon, şi i -a spus tot ce avea pe inimă.

And the queen of Sheba hath heard of the fame of Solomon, and cometh in to try Solomon with acute sayings, to Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels bearing spices and gold in abundance, and precious stone; and she cometh in unto Solomon, and speaketh with him all that hath been with her heart,

2 S olomon i -a răspuns la toate întrebările, şi n'a fost nimic pe care să nu fi ştiut Solomon să i -l lămurească.

and Solomon declareth to her all her matters, and there hath not been hid a thing from Solomon that he hath not declared to her.

3 Î mpărăteasa din Seba a văzut înţelepciunea lui Solomon, şi casa pe care o zidise,

And the queen of Sheba seeth the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he hath built,

4 ş i bucatele dela masa lui, şi locuinţa slujitorilor lui, şi slujbele şi hainele celor ce -i slujeau, şi paharnicii lui şi hainele lor, şi treptele pe cari se suia la Casa Domnului. Uimită,

and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his stewards, and their clothing, an his burnt-offering that he offered up in the house of Jehovah, and there hath not been any more spirit in her.

5 e a a zis împăratului:,, Era adevărat deci ce am auzit eu în ţara mea despre faptele şi înţelepciunea ta!

And she saith unto the king, `True the word that I heard in my land concerning thy matters and concerning thy wisdom,

6 N u credeam tot ce se zicea, pînă n'am venit şi am văzut cu ochii mei. Şi iată că nu mi s'a istorisit nici jumătate din mărirea şi înţelepciunea ta. Tu întreci faima pe care am auzit -o despre tine.

and I have given no credence to their words, till that I have come, and mine eyes see, and lo, there hath not been declared to me the half of the abundance of thy wisdom -- thou hast added unto the report that I heard.

7 F erice de oamenii tăi, ferice de slujitorii tăi, cari sînt pururea înaintea ta, şi cari aud înţelepciunea ta!

`O the happiness of thy men, and the happiness of thy servants -- these -- who are standing before thee continually, and hearing thy wisdom.

8 B inecuvîntat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, care S'a îndurat de tine, şi te -a pus pe scaunul Lui de domnie ca împărat pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul tău! Pentrucă Dumnezeul tău iubeşte pe Israel şi vrea să -l facă să rămînă în picioare pe vecie, pentru aceea te -a pus împărat peste el, ca să faci judecată şi dreptate.``

Let Jehovah thy God be blessed who hath delighted in thee, to put thee on His throne for king for Jehovah thy God; in the love of thy God to Israel, to establish it to the age, He hath put thee over them for king, to do judgment and righteousness.'

9 E a a dat împăratului o sută douăzeci de talanţi de aur, foarte multe mirodenii, şi pietre scumpe. N'au mai fost mirodenii ca cele date împăratului Solomon de împărăteasa din Seba.

And she giveth to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stone; and there hath not been any such spice as the queen of Sheba hath given to king Solomon.

10 S lujitorii lui Hiram şi slujitorii lui Solomon, cari au adus aur din Ofir, au adus şi lemn mirositor şi pietre scumpe.

And also, servants of Huram, and servants of Solomon, who brought in gold from Ophir, have brought in algum-trees and precious stone.

11 Î mpăratul a făcut cu lemnul mirositor scări pentru Casa Domnului şi pentru casa împăratului, şi arfe şi alăute pentru cîntăreţi. Nu se mai văzuse aşa ceva în ţara lui Iuda.

And the king maketh the algum-trees staircases for the house of Jehovah, and for the house of the king, and harps and psalteries for singers; and there have been none seen like these before in the land of Judah.

12 Î mpăratul Solomon a dat împărătesei din Seba tot ce a dorit ea, ce a cerut, mai mult decît adusese ea împăratului. Apoi s'a întors şi s'a dus în ţara ei, ea şi slujitorii ei.

And king Solomon hath given to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which she had brought unto the king, and she turneth and goeth to her land, she and her servants.

13 G reutatea aurului care venea pe fiecare an lui Solomon era de şase sute şasezeci şi şase de talanţi de aur,

And the weight of the gold that is coming to Solomon in one year is six hundred and sixty and six talents of gold,

14 a fară de ce lua dela negustorii cei mari şi dela cei mici, dela toţi împăraţii Arabiei şi dela dregătorii ţării, cari aduceau aur şi argint lui Solomon.

apart from the tourists, and the merchants, are bringing in; and all the kings of Arabia, and the governors of the land, are bringing in gold and silver to Solomon.

15 Î mpăratul Solomon a făcut două sute de scuturi mari de aur bătut, şi pentru fiecare din ele a întrebuinţat şase sute de sicli de aur bătut,

And king Solomon maketh two hundred targets of alloyed gold, six hundred of alloyed gold he causeth to go up on the one target;

16 ş i alte trei sute de scuturi de aur bătut, şi pentru fiecare din ele a întrebuinţat trei sute de sicli de aur; şi împăratul le -a pus în casa pădurii Libanului.

and three hundred shields of alloyed gold, three hundred of gold he causeth to go up on the one shield, and the king putteth them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

17 Î mpăratul a făcut un mare scaun de domnie de fildeş, şi l -a acoperit cu aur curat.

And the king maketh a great throne of ivory, and overlayeth it with pure gold;

18 S caunul acesta de domnie avea şase trepte, şi un aşternut pentru picioare, de aur, care se ţinea de scaunul de domnie; de fiecare parte a scaunului erau răzimători, lîngă răzimători erau doi lei,

and six steps to the throne, and a footstool of gold, to the throne they are fastened, and hands on this and on that on the place of the sitting, and two lions are standing near the hands,

19 ş i pe cele şase trepte, de o parte şi de alta, erau doisprezece lei. Aşa ceva nu s'a făcut pentru nici o împărăţie.

and twelve lions are standing there on the six steps on this, and on that: it hath not been made so for any kingdom.

20 T oate paharele împăratului Solomon erau de aur, şi toate vasele din casa pădurii Libanului erau de aur curat. Nu era nimic de argint: argintului nu i se dădea niciun preţ, pe vremea lui Solomon.

And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon of refined gold -- silver is not reckoned in the days of Solomon for anything;

21 C ăci împăratul avea corăbii din Tarsis cari călătoreau cu slujitorii lui Hiram; şi la fiecare trei ani veneau corăbiile din Tarsis, aducînd aur şi argint, fildeş, maimuţe şi păuni.

for ships of the king are going to Tarshish, with servants of Huram: once in three years come do the ships of Tarshish bearing gold, and silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

22 Î mpăratul Solomon a întrecut pe toţi împăraţii pămîntului prin bogăţiile şi înţelepciunea lui.

And king Solomon becometh greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and wisdom;

23 T oţi împăraţii pămîntului căutau să vadă pe Solomon, ca să audă înţelepciunea pe care o pusese Dumnezeu în inima lui.

and all the kings of the earth are seeking the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom that God hath put in his heart,

24 Ş i fiecare din ei îşi aducea darul lui, lucruri de argint şi lucruri de aur, haine, arme, mirodenii, cai şi catîri; aşa era în fiecare an.

and they are bringing in each his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

25 S olomon avea patru mii de iesle pentru caii dela carăle lui, şi douăsprezece mii de călăreţi pe cari i -a aşezat în cetăţile unde îşi ţinea carăle şi la Ierusalim lîngă împărat.

And there are to Solomon four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placed them in cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem.

26 E l stăpînea peste toţi împăraţii, dela Rîu pînă la ţara Filistenilor şi pînă la hotarul Egiptului.

And he is ruling over all the kings from the River even unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt.

27 Î mpăratul a făcut argintul tot aşa de obicinuit la Ierusalim ca pietrele, şi cedrii tot atît de mulţi ca smochinii sălbatici, cari cresc pe cîmpie.

And the king maketh the silver in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he hath made as sycamores, that in the low country, for abundance,

28 D in Egipt şi din toate ţările se aduceau cai pentru Solomon.

and they are bringing out horses from Egypt to Solomon, and from all the lands.

29 C elelalte fapte ale lui Solomon, cele dintîi şi cele depe urmă, nu sînt scrise oare în Cartea proorocului Natan, în proorocia lui Ahia din Silo, şi în descoperirile proorocului Ieedo despre Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat?

And the rest of the matters of Solomon, the first and the last, are they not written beside the matters of Nathan the prophet, and beside the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and with the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?

30 S olomon a domnit patruzeci de ani la Ierusalim peste tot Israelul.

And Solomon reigneth in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years,

31 A poi Solomon a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi l-au îngropat în cetatea tatălui său David. Şi, în locul lui, a domnit fiul său Roboam.

and Solomon lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David his father, and reign doth Rehoboam his son in his stead.
