1 C înd a locuit împăratul în casa lui, şi cînd i -a dat odihnă Domnul, dupăce l -a izbăvit de toţi vrăjmaşii cari -l înconjurau,

And it cometh to pass, when the king sat in his house, and Jehovah hath given rest to him round about, from all his enemies,

2 a zis proorocului Natan:,, Iată! Eu locuiesc într'o casă de cedru, şi chivotul lui Dumnezeu locuieşte într'un... cort.``

that the king saith unto Nathan the prophet, `See, I pray thee, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of God is dwelling in the midst of the curtain.'

3 N atan a răspuns împăratului:,, Du-te şi fă tot ce ai în inimă, căci Domnul este cu tine.``

And Nathan saith unto the king, `All that in thine heart -- go, do, for Jehovah with thee.'

4 Î n noaptea următoare, cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Natan:

And it cometh to pass in that night, that the word of Jehovah is unto Nathan, saying,

5 D u-te şi spune robului meu David:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Oare tu Îmi vei zidi o casă ca să locuiesc în ea?

`Go, and thou hast said unto My servant, unto David, Thus said Jehovah, Dost thou build for Me a house for My dwelling in?

6 D ar Eu n'am locuit într'o casă, din ziua cînd am scos pe copiii lui Israel din Egipt pînă în ziua aceasta; ci am călătorit într'un cort drept locuinţă.

for I have not dwelt in a house even from the day of My bringing up the sons of Israel out of Egypt, even unto this day, and am walking up and down in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 P retutindeni pe unde am mers cu toţi copiii lui Israel, am spus Eu oare vreo vorbă vreuneia din seminţiile lui Israel, căreia îi poruncisem să pască pe poporul Meu Israel, zicînd:, Pentru ce nu-Mi zidiţi o casă de cedru?`

During all that I have walked up and down among all the sons of Israel, a word have I spoken with one of the tribes of Israel which I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, `Why have ye not built to Me a house of cedars?

8 A cum să spui robului Meu David:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor:, Te-am luat dela păşune, dela oi, ca să fii căpetenie peste poporul Meu, peste Israel;

and now, thus dost thou say to My servant, to David: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, I have taken thee from the comely place, from after the flock, to be leader over My people, over Israel;

9 a m fost cu tine pretutindeni pe unde ai mers, am nimicit pe toţi vrăjmaşii tăi dinaintea ta, şi ţi-am făcut numele mare... ca numele celor mari de pe pămînt;

and I am with thee whithersoever thou hast gone, and I cut off all thine enemies from thy presence, and have made for thee a great name, as the name of the great ones who in the earth,

10 a m dat un loc poporului Meu, lui Israel, şi l-am sădit ca să locuiască în el, şi să nu mai fie turburat, ca să nu -l mai apese cei răi ca mai înainte.

and I have appointed a place for My people, for Israel, and have planted it, and it hath tabernacled in its place, and it is not troubled any more, and the sons of perverseness do not add to afflict it any more, as in the beginning,

11 ş i ca pe vremea cînd pusesem judecători peste poporul Meu Israel. Ţi-am dat odihnă izbăvindu-te de toţi vrăjmaşii tăi. Şi Domnul îţi vesteşte că-ţi... va zidi o casă.

even from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I have given rest to thee from all thine enemies, and Jehovah hath declared to thee that Jehovah doth make for thee a house.

12 C înd ţi se vor împlini zilele şi vei fi culcat cu părinţii tăi, Eu îţi voi ridica... un urmaş după tine, care va ieşi din trupul tău, şi -i voi întări împărăţia.

`When thy days are full, and thou hast lain with thy fathers, then I have raised up thy seed after thee which goeth out from thy bowels, and have established his kingdom;

13 E l va zidi Numelui Meu o casă, şi voi întări pe vecie scaunul de domnie al împărăţiei lui.

He doth build a house for My Name, and I have established the throne of his kingdom unto the age.

14 E u îi voi fi Tată şi el Îmi va fi fiu. Dacă va face răul, îl voi pedepsi cu o nuia omenească şi cu lovituri omeneşti;

I am to him for a father, and he is to Me for a son; whom in his dealings perversely I have even reproved with a rod of men, and with strokes of the sons of Adam,

15 d ar harul Meu nu se va depărta dela el, cum l-am depărtat dela Saul, pe care l-am îndepărtat dinaintea ta.

and My kindness doth not turn aside from him, as I turned it aside from Saul, whom I turned aside from before thee,

16 C i casa ta şi împărăţia ta vor dăinui vecinic înaintea Mea, şi scaunul tău de domnie va fi întărit pe vecie.``

and stedfast thy house and thy kingdom unto the age before thee, thy throne is established unto the age.'

17 N atan a spus lui David toate aceste cuvinte şi toată vedenia aceasta.

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so spake Nathan unto David.

18 Ş i împăratul David s'a dus şi s'a înfăţişat înaintea Domnului, şi a zis:,, Cine sînt eu, Doamne Dumnezeule, şi ce este casa mea, de m'ai făcut să ajung unde sînt?

And king David cometh in and sitteth before Jehovah, and saith, `Who I, Lord Jehovah? and what my house, that Thou hast brought me hitherto?

19 Ş i încă atît este puţin înaintea Ta, Doamne Dumnezeule! Tu vorbeşti despre casa robului Tău şi în viitor. Şi binevoieşti să înveţi pe un om cu privire la aceste lucruri, Doamne Dumnezeule!

And yet this little in Thine eyes, Lord Jehovah, and Thou dost speak also concerning the house of Thy servant afar off; and this the law of the Man, Lord Jehovah.

20 C e Ţi-ar putea spune David mai mult? Tu cunoşti pe robul Tău, Doamne Dumnezeule!

And what doth David add more to speak unto Thee? and Thou, Thou hast known Thy servant, Lord Jehovah.

21 D upă cuvîntul Tău, şi după inima Ta, Tu ai făcut toate aceste lucruri mari, ca să le descoperi robului Tău!

Because of Thy word, and according to Thy heart, Thou hast done all this greatness, to cause Thy servant to know.

22 C e mare eşti Tu, Doamne Dumnezeule! Căci nimeni nu este ca Tine, şi nu este alt Dumnezeu afară de Tine, după tot ce am auzit cu urechile noastre.

Therefore Thou hast been great, Jehovah God, for there is none like Thee, and there is no God save Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 E ste oare pe pămînt un singur neam care să fie ca poporul Tău, ca Israel, pe care a venit să -l răscumpere Dumnezeu, ca să facă din el poporul Lui, ca să-Şi facă un Nume şi ca să facă pentru el, pentru ţara Ta, minuni şi semne, izgonind dinaintea poporului Tău, pe care l-ai răscumpărat din Egipt, neamuri şi pe dumnezeii lor?

`And who as Thy people, as Israel -- one nation in the earth, whom God hath gone to redeem to Him for a people, and to make for Him a name -- and to do for you the greatness -- even fearful things for Thy land, at the presence of Thy people, whom Thou hast redeemed to Thee out of Egypt -- nations and their gods?

24 T u ai întărit pe poporul Tău Israel, ca să fie poporul Tău pe vecie; şi Tu, Doamne, Te-ai făcut Dumnezeul lui.

Yea, Thou dost establish to Thee Thy people Israel, to Thee for a people unto the age, and Thou, Jehovah, hast been to them for God.

25 A cum, Doamne Dumnezeule, fă să rămînă în veci cuvîntul pe care l-ai rostit asupra robului Tău şi asupra casei lui, şi lucrează după cuvîntul Tău.

`And now, Jehovah God, the word which Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house, establish unto the age, and do as Thou hast spoken;

26 S lăvit să fie Numele Tău pe vecie, şi să se zică:, Domnul oştirilor este Dumnezeul lui Israel`. Şi casa robului Tău David, să rămînă înaintea Ta!`

And Thy Name is great unto the age, saying, Jehovah of Hosts God over Israel, and the house of Thy servant David is established before Thee,

27 C ăci Tu însuţi, Doamne al oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, Te-ai descoperit robului Tău, zicînd:, Eu îţi voi întemeia o casă!` De aceea a îndrăznit robul Tău să-Ţi facă această rugăciune.

For Thou, Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Thou hast uncovered the ear of Thy servant, saying, A house I build for thee, therefore hath Thy servant found his heart to pray unto Thee this prayer;

28 A cum, Doamne Dumnezeule, Tu eşti Dumnezeu, şi cuvintele Tale sînt adevăr, şi Tu ai vestit harul acesta robului Tău.

And now, Lord Jehovah, Thou God Himself, and Thy words are truth, and Thou speakest unto Thy servant this goodness,

29 B inecuvintează dar casa robului Tău, ca să dăinuiască pe vecie înaintea Ta! Căci Tu, Doamne Dumnezeule, ai vorbit, şi, prin binecuvîntarea Ta, casa robului Tău va fi binecuvîntată pe vecie``.

And now, begin and bless the house of Thy servant, to be unto the age before Thee, for Thou, Lord Jehovah, hast spoken, and by Thy blessing is the house of Thy servant blessed -- to the age.'
