1 C uvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Son of man,

2 F iul omului, erau două femei, fiice ale aceleiaşi mame.

Two women were daughters of one mother,

3 E le au curvit în Egipt, au curvit în tinereţa lor; acolo le-au fost strîns ţîţele, acolo le -a fost atîns sînul fecioresc.

And they go a-whoring in Egypt, In their youth they have gone a-whoring, There they have bruised their breasts, And there they have dealt with the loves of their virginity.

4 C ea mai mare se chema Ohola, şi sora ei Oholiba. Erau ale Mele, şi au născut fii şi fiice.`` Ohola este Samaria; Oholiba este Ierusalimul.

And their names Aholah the elder, And Aholibah her sister, And they are Mine, and bear sons and daughters. As to their names -- Samaria Aholah, And Jerusalem Aholibah.

5 O hola nu Mi -a fost credincioasă; s'a aprins de dragoste pentru ibovnicii ei, după Asirieni, vecinii ei,

And go a-whoring doth Aholah under Me, And she doteth on her lovers, On the neighbouring Assyrians,

6 î mbrăcaţi cu ştofe văpsite în albastru, dregători şi căpetenii, toţi tineri şi plăcuţi, călăreţi călări pe cai.

Clothed with blue -- governors and prefects, Desirable young men all of them, Horsemen, riding on horses,

7 E a a curvit cu ei, cu toată fruntea copiilor Asiriei; s'a spurcat cu toţi aceia pentru cari umbla nebună, s'a spurcat cu toţi idolii lor.

And she giveth her whoredoms on them, The choice of the sons of Asshur, All of them -- even all on whom she doted, By all their idols she hath been defiled.

8 N u s'a lăsat nici de curviile ei din Egipt, căci aceştia se culcaseră cu ea din tinereţa ei, îi atinseseră sînul fecioresc, şi îşi vărsaseră curviile peste ea.

And her whoredoms out of Egypt she hath not forsaken, For with her they lay in her youth, And they dealt with the loves of her virginity, And they pour out their whoredoms on her.

9 D e aceea, am dat -o în mînile ibovnicilor ei, în mînile copiilor Asiriei, pentru cari se aprinsese de dragoste.

Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, Into the hand of sons of Asshur on whom she doted.

10 E i i-au descoperit goliciunea, i-au luat fiii şi fiicele, şi pe ea au ucis -o cu sabia, de i s'a dus vestea printre femei, după judecăţile făcute de ei asupra ei.

They have uncovered her nakedness, Her sons and her daughters they have taken, And her by sword they have slain, And she is a name for women, And judgments they have done with her.

11 S ora ei Oholiba a văzut lucrul acesta, şi a fost mai fără frîu, de cît ea în patima ei; şi a întrecut pe soru-sa în curvii.

And see doth her sister Aholibah, And she maketh her doting love more corrupt than she, And her whoredoms than the whoredoms of her sister.

12 E a s'a aprins de dragoste după copiii Asiriei, după dregători şi căpetenii, vecinii ei, îmbrăcaţi în chip strălucit, călăreţi călări pe cai, toţi tineri şi plăcuţi.

On sons of Asshur she hath doted, Governors and prefects, Neighbouring ones -- clothed in perfection, Horsemen, riding on horses, Desirable young men all of them.

13 A m văzut că se spurcase, întocmai ca cea dintîi din amîndouă.

And I see that she hath been defiled, One way to them both.

14 E a a mers chiar mai departe în curviile ei. A zărit pe ziduri nişte zugrăveli de bărbaţi, nişte icoane de Haldei zugrăviţi cu coloare roşie,

And she doth add unto her whoredoms, And she seeth graved men on the wall, Pictures of Chaldeans, graved with red lead,

15 c u brîie împrejurul coapselor lor, cu turbane de felurite colori pe cap, toţi avînd înfăţişarea unor viteji, după felul Babilonenilor, a căror ţară de naştere este Haldea; şi s'a aprins după ei,

Girded with a girdle on their loins, Dyed attire spread out on their heads, The appearance of rulers -- all of them, The likeness of sons of Babylon, Chaldea is the land of their birth.

16 l a cea dintîi privire, şi le -a trimes soli în Haldea.

And she doteth on them at the sight of her eyes, And sendeth messengers to them, to Chaldea.

17 Ş i copiii Babilonului au venit la ea, în patul de dragoste, şi au spurcat -o cu curviile lor. Aşa că ea s'a spurcat cu ei, şi apoi inima i s'a înstrăinat de ei.

And come in unto her do sons of Babylon, To the bed of loves, And they defile her with their whoredoms, And she is defiled with them, And her soul is alienated from them.

18 Ş i cînd şi -a dezgolit ea necurăţia, şi -a descoperit goliciunea, şi inima Mea s'a înstrăinat de ea, cum se înstrăinase şi de soru-sa.

And she revealeth her whoredoms, And she revealeth her nakedness, And alienated is My soul from off her, As alienated was My soul from off her sister.

19 D ar ea şi -a înmulţit curviile tot mai mult, gîndindu-se iarăş la zilele tinereţei ei, cînd curvea în ţara Egiptului.

And she multiplieth her whoredoms, To remember the days of her youth, When she went a-whoring in the land of Egypt.

20 E a s'a aprins după nişte necuraţi, a căror carne era ca a măgarilor, şi a căror apropiere era ca a armăsarilor.

And she doteth on their paramours, Whose flesh the flesh of asses, And the issue of horses -- their issue.

21 A stfel, ţi-ai înoit iarăş nelegiuirile tinereţei tale, cînd Egiptenii îţi strîngeau ţîţele, din pricina sînului tău fecioresc.

Thou lookest after the wickedness of thy youth, In dealing out of Egypt thy loves, For the sake of the breasts of thy youth.

22 D eaceea, Oholiba, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Iată că aţîţ împotriva ta pe ibovnicii tăi, de cari ţi-ai înstrăinat inima, şi -i aduc din toate părţile împotriva ta:

Therefore, O Aholibah, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am stirring up thy lovers against thee, From whom thy soul hath been alienated, And have brought them in against thee from round about.

23 p e Babiloneni şi pe toţi Haldeii, căpitani, voivozi şi domni, şi pe toţi copiii Asiriei împreună cu ei, tineri şi plăcuţi, toţi dregători şi căpetenii, oameni vestiţi, toţi călări pe cai.

Sons of Babylon, and of all Chaldea, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, All the sons of Asshur with them, Desirable young men, governors and prefects, All of them -- rulers and proclaimed ones, Riding on horses, all of them.

24 E i vin împotriva ta cu arme, cară şi roţi, şi cu o mulţime de popoare. Cu scut, pavăză şi coifuri, înaintează de toate părţile împotriva ta. Lor le încredinţez judecata, şi te vor judeca după legile lor

And they have come in against thee, With arms, rider, and wheel, And with an assembly of peoples; Target, and shield, and helmet, They do set against thee round about, And I have set before them judgment, They have judged thee in their Judgments.

25 T e fac să-Mi simţi gelozia, şi se vor purta cu urgie cu tine. Îţi vor tăia nasul şi urechile, şi sămînţa ta va cădea lovită de sabie. Îţi vor lua fiii şi fiicele, şi ce-ţi va mai rămînea, va fi mîncat de foc.

And I have set My jealousy against thee, And they have dealt with thee in fury, Thy nose and thine ears they turn aside, And thy posterity by sword falleth, They, thy sons and thy daughters do take away, And thy posterity is devoured by fire.

26 T e vor desbrăca de haine, şi vor lua podoabele scumpe cu cari te găteşti.

And they have stripped thee of thy garments, And have taken thy beauteous jewels.

27 V oi pune astfel capăt nelegiuirilor tale şi curviilor tale din ţara Egiptului. Aşa că nu-ţi vei mai îndrepta privirile spre ei, şi nu te ve mai gîndi la Egipt.

And I have caused thy wickedness to cease from thee, And thy whoredoms out of the land of Egypt, And thou liftest not up thine eyes unto them, And Egypt thou dost not remember again.

28 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Iată, te dau în mînile acelora de cari ţi s'a înstrăinat inima.

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am giving thee into a hand that thou hast hated, Into a hand from which thou wast alienated.

29 S e vor purta cu ură cu tine; îţi vor ridica toate bogăţiile, şi te vor lăsa goală, goală de tot. Ruşinea necurăţiilor tale se va descoperi, ruşinea nelegiuirilor şi curviilor tale.

And they have dealt with thee in hatred, And they have taken all thy labour, And they have left thee naked and bare, And revealed hath been the nakedness of thy whoredoms, And the wickedness of thy whoredoms.

30 L ucrurile acestea ţi se vor întîmpla, pentrucă ai curvit cu neamurile, pentrucă te-ai spurcat cu idolii lor.

To do these things to thee, In thy going a-whoring after nations, Because thou hast been defiled with their idols,

31 A i mers pe calea sorei tale, deaceea, şi Eu îţi pun potirul ei în mînă.

In the way of thy sister thou hast walked, And I have given her cup into thy hand.

32 A şa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Vei bea potirul sorei tale, cel larg şi adînc; vei ajunge de rîs şi de batjocură. Încape mult în el!

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: The cup of thy sister thou dost drink, The deep and the wide one, (Thou art for laughter and for scorn,) Abundant to contain.

33 T e vei umplea de beţie şi durere; căci potirul sorei tale Samaria este un potir de groază şi spaimă!

With drunkenness and sorrow thou art filled, A cup of astonishment and desolation, The cup of thy sister Samaria.

34 Î l vei bea şi îl vei goli, îi vei roade cioburile, şi-ţi vei sfîşia tîţele. Căci Eu am vorbit, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

And thou hast drunk it, and hast drained, And its earthen ware thou dost gnaw, And thine own breasts thou pluckest off, For I have spoken, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah,

35 D eaceea aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Pentrucă M'ai uitat, pentrucă M-ai aruncat la spate-ţi, poartă-ţi şi tu acum pedeapsa nelegiuirilor şi curviilor tale.``

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten Me, And thou dost cast Me behind thy back, Even thou also bear thy wickedness and thy whoredoms.'

36 D omnul mi -a zis:,, Fiul omului, vrei să judeci pe Ohola şi Oholiba? Pune-le înainte urîciunile lor!

And Jehovah saith unto me, `Son of man, Dost thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? Declare then to them their abominations.

37 E le s-au dedat la preacurvie, şi pe mînile lor este sînge: au preacurvit cu idolii lor; şi copiii pe cari Mi -i născuseră, i-au trecut prin foc în cinstea lor, ca să -i mănînce!

For they have committed adultery, And blood in their hands, With their idols they committed adultery, And also their sons whom they bore to Me, They caused to pass over to them for food.

38 A fară de aceasta iată ce Mi-au mai făcut: Mi-au spurcat Locaşul cel sfînt în aceiaş zi, şi Mi-au pîngărit Sabatele.

Again, this they have done to Me, They defiled My sanctuary in that day, And My sabbaths they have polluted.

39 C ăci dupăce şi-au jertfit copiii la idolii lor, tot în ziua aceea s'au dus şi în Locaşul Meu cel sfînt, ca să -l spurce. Iată ce au făcut în Casa Mea.

And in their slaughtering their sons to their idols They also come in unto My sanctuary in that day to pollute it, And lo, thus they have done in the midst of My house,

40 A u umblat chiar după oamenii, cari veneau de departe, le-au trimes soli, şi iată că ei au venit. Pentru ei te-ai scăldat tu, te-ai sulemenit la ochi, şi te-ai gătit cu podoabele tale;

And also that they send to men coming from afar, Unto whom a messenger is sent, And lo, they have come in for whom thou hast washed, Painted thine eyes, and put on adornment.

41 a i şezut pe un pat măreţ, înaintea căruia era întinsă o masă, pe care ai pus tămîia şi untdelemnul Meu.

And thou hast sat on a couch of honour, And a table arrayed before it, And My perfume and My oil placed on it.

42 S 'au auzit strigătele unei mulţimi vesele; şi cu mulţimea aceasta de oameni de rînd au adus nişte beţivi din pustie, cari au pus brăţări în mînile celor două surori şi mîndre cununi pe capetele lor.

And the voice of a multitude at ease with her, And unto men of the common people are brought in Sabeans from the wilderness, And they put bracelets on their hands, And a beauteous crown on their heads.

43 A m zis atunci cu privire la curva cea bătrînă:,,Şi acum îşi va urma ea oare curviile, şi tot vor mai veni la ea?``

And I say of the worn-out one in adulteries, Now they commit her whoredoms -- she also!

44 Ş i au venit la ea cum vin la o curvă; aşa s'au dus la Ohola şi Oholiba, la aceste femei nelegiuite.

And they come in unto her, As the coming in unto a whorish woman, So they have come in unto Aholah, And unto Aholibah -- the wicked women.

45 D e aceea oamenii fără prihană le vor osîndi, cum se osîndesc femeile preacurve, cum se osîndesc cele ce varsă sînge; căci sînt prea curve, şi au sînge pe mîni.

As to righteous men, they judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, And the judgment of women shedding blood, For they adulteresses, And blood in their hands.

46 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Voi aduce împotriva lor o mulţime de gloată mare, şi le voi da pradă chinului şi jafului.

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Bring up against them an assembly, And give them to trembling and to spoiling.

47 A dunarea le va ucide cu pietre, şi le va doborî cu lovituri de sabie; le vor ucide fiii şi fiicele lor, şi le vor arde casele cu foc.

And they have cast at them the stone of the assembly, And cut them with their swords, Their sons and their daughters they do slay, And their houses with fire they burn.

48 V oi face astfel să înceteze nelegiuirea în ţară; ca toate femeile să ia învăţătură, şi să nu mai facă o nelegiuire ca a voastră!

And I have caused wickedness to cease from the land, And instructed have been all the women, And they do not according to your wickedness.

49 V i se va răsplăti astfel nelegiuirea, şi veţi purta păcatele săvîrşite cu idolii voştri, şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeu!``

And they have put your wickedness on you, And the sins of your idols ye bear, And ye have known that I the Lord Jehovah!
