1 П авло, апостол Христа Ісуса, з волі Бога, Спасителя нашого й Христа Ісуса, надії нашої,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Saviour, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

2 д о Тимофія, щирого сина за вірою: благодать, милість, мир від Бога Отця і Христа Ісуса, Господа нашого!

to Timotheus -- genuine child in faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord,

3 Я к я йшов у Македонію, я тебе вблагав був позостатися в Ефесі, щоб ти декому наказав не навчати іншої науки,

according as I did exhort thee to remain in Ephesus -- I going on to Macedonia -- that thou mightest charge certain not to teach any other thing,

4 і не звертати уваги на вигадки й на родоводи безкраї, що викликують більше сварки, ніж збудування Боже, що в вірі воно.

nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than the building up of God that is in faith: --

5 Ц іль же наказу любов від чистого серця, і доброго сумління, і нелукавої віри.

And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned,

6 Д ехто в тім прогрішили були та вдалися в пустомовність,

from which certain, having swerved, did turn aside to vain discourse,

7 в они забажали бути вчителями Закону, та не розуміли ні того, що говорять, ні про що запевняють.

willing to be teachers of law, not understanding either the things they say, nor concerning what they asseverate,

8 А ми знаємо, що добрий Закон, коли хто законно вживає його,

and we have known that the law good, if any one may use it lawfully;

9 т а відає те, що Закон не покладений для праведного, але для беззаконних та для неслухняних, нечестивих і грішників, безбожних та нечистих, для зневажників батька та зневажників матері, для душогубців,

having known this, that for a righteous man law is not set, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, parricides and matricides, men-slayers,

10 р озпусників, мужоложників, розбійників, неправдомовців, кривоприсяжників, і для всього іншого, що противне здоровій науці,

whoremongers, sodomites, men-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that to sound doctrine is adverse,

11 з а славною Євангелією блаженного Бога, яка мені звірена.

according to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.

12 Я дяку складаю Тому, Хто зміцнив мене, Христу Ісусу, Господу нашому, що мене за вірного визнав і поставив на службу,

And I give thanks to him who enabled me -- Christ Jesus our Lord -- that he did reckon me stedfast, having put to the ministration,

13 м ене, що давніше був богозневажник, і гнобитель, і напасник, але був помилуваний, бо я те чинив нетямучий у невірстві.

who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did in unbelief,

14 І багато збільшилась у мені благодать Господа нашого з вірою та з любов'ю в Христі Ісусі.

and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that in Christ Jesus:

15 В ірне це слово, і гідне всякого прийняття, що Христос Ісус прийшов у світ спасти грішних, із яких перший то я.

stedfast the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners -- first of whom I am;

16 А ле я тому був помилуваний, щоб Ісус Христос на першім мені показав усе довготерпіння, для прикладу тим, що мають увірувати в Нього на вічне життя.

but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during:

17 А Цареві віків, нетлінному, невидимому, єдиному Богові честь і слава на вічні віки. Амінь.

and to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, honour and glory -- to the ages of the ages! Amen.

18 Ц ього наказа я передаю тобі, сину мій Тимофіє, за тими пророцтвами, що про тебе давніше були, щоб ними провадив ти добру війну,

This charge I commit to thee, child Timotheus, according to the prophesies that went before upon thee, that thou mayest war in them the good warfare,

19 м аючи віру та добре сумління, якого дехто відкинулися та й розбилися в вірі.

having faith and a good conscience, which certain having thrust away, concerning the faith did make shipwreck,

20 С еред них Гіменей та Олександер, яких я передав сатані, щоб навчились вони не зневажати Бога.

of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I did deliver to the Adversary, that they might be instructed not to speak evil.
