1 І посходилися всі Ізраїлеві племена до Давида в Хеврон та й сказали йому: Оце ми кість твоя та тіло твоє ми!

And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, `Lo, we thy bone and thy flesh;

2 І давніш, коли Саул був царем над нами, ти водив Ізраїля на війну і приводив назад. І Господь тобі сказав: Ти будеш пасти народа Мого, Ізраїля, і ти будеш володарем над Ізраїлем.

also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3 І прийшли всі Ізраїлеві старші в Хеврон, а цар Давид склав із ними умову в Хевроні перед Господнім лицем. І помазали вони Давида царем над Ізраїлем.

And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 Д авид був віку тридцяти літ, коли став царювати, і сорок літ царював він.

A son of thirty years David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5 У Хевроні царював він над Юдою сім літ і шість місяців, а в Єрусалимі царював тридцять і три роки над усім Ізраїлем та Юдою.

in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 І пішов цар та люди його до Єрусалиму на Євусеянина, мешканця того Краю. А той сказав Давидові, говорячи: Ти не ввійдеш сюди, хіба повиганяєш сліпих та кривих! А це значить: Давид ніколи не ввійде сюди!

And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, `Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, `David doth not come in hither.'

7 Т а Давид здобув твердиню Сіон, він став Давидовим Містом.

And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it the city of David.

8 І сказав Давид того дня: Кожен, хто заб'є євусеянина, нехай скине до каналу, а з ним і кривих та сліпих, зненавиджених для Давидової душі. Тому говорять: Сліпий та кривий не ввійде до дому!

And David saith on that day, `Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind -- the hated of David's soul,' -- because the blind and lame say, `He doth not come into the house.'

9 І осівся Давид у твердині, і назвав ім'я їй: Давидове Місто. І будував Давид навколо від Мілло й усередині.

And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it -- City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10 І Давид ставав усе більшим, а Господь, Бог Саваот, був із ним.

and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, with him.

11 І послав Хірам, цар тирський, послів до Давида, та кедрового дерева, і теслів, і каменярів для стін, і вони збудували дім для Давида.

And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 І пересвідчився Давид, що Господь поставив його міцно царем над Ізраїлем, і що Він підніс царство його ради народу Свого Ізраїля.

and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 А Давид узяв ще наложниць та жінок з Єрусалиму по виході його з Хеврону, і народилися Давидові ще сини та дочки.

And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14 А оце імена народжених йому в Єрусалимі: Шаммуа, і Шовав, і Натан, і Соломон,

And these the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 і Ївхар, і Елішуа, і Нафеґ, і Яфіа,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 і Елішама, і Еліяда, і Еліфалет.

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 І почули филистимляни, що Давида помазали царем над Ізраїлем, і вийшли всі филистимляни, щоб шукати Давида. І Давид почув про це, і зійшов до твердині.

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18 А филистимляни прийшли та розташувалися в долині Рефаїм.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 А Давид запитався Господа, говорячи: Чи виходити мені проти филистимлян? Чи даси їх у мою руку? І Господь відказав до Давида: Виходь, бо справді дам филистимлян у руку твою!

And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, `Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20 І прийшов Давид до Баал-Пераціму. І побив їх там Давид та й сказав: Господь розірвав ворогів моїх передо мною, як розривають води. Тому він назвав ім'я тому місцю: Баал-Перацім.

And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, `Jehovah hath broken forth mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21 І вони полишили там своїх божків, а їх забрав Давид та люди його.

And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22 А филистимляни знову прийшли та розташувалися в долині Рефаїм.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23 І запитався Давид Господа, а Він сказав: Не виходь, оточи їх з-позаду, і прийди до них від бальзамового ліска.

and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, `Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24 І станеться, коли ти почуєш шелест кроку на верховіттях бальзамового ліска, тоді поспішися, бо то тоді вийшов Господь перед тобою, щоб побити филистимський табір.

and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25 І Давид зробив так, як наказав йому Господь, і він побив филистимлян від Ґеви аж туди, кудою йти до Ґезера.

And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.
