1 А Азарія, син Оведів, злинув на нього Дух Божий.

And upon Azariah son of Oded hath been the Spirit of God,

2 І вийшов він перед Асу та й сказав йому: Послухайте мене, Асо та ввесь Юдо й Веніямине! Господь з вами, якщо будете з Ним, і якщо будете Його шукати, дасть вам знайти Себе. А якщо ви полишите Його, полишить Він вас!

and he goeth out before Asa, and saith to him, `Hear, me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; Jehovah with you -- in your being with Him, and if ye seek Him, He is found of you, and if ye forsake Him, He forsaketh you;

3 У Ізраїля було багато днів, коли був він без правдивого Бога, і без священика-вчителя та без Закону.

and many days to Israel without a true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law,

4 І вернувся він в утиску своєму до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого, і вони шукали Його, і Він дав їм знайти Себе.

and it turneth back in its distress unto Jehovah, God of Israel, and they seek Him, and He is found of them,

5 А тими часами не було спокою ані тому, хто виходить, ані тому, хто входить, бо були великі неспокої в усіх мешканців Краю.

and in those times there is no peace to him who is going out, and to him who is coming in, for many troubles on all the inhabitants of the lands,

6 І воював народ проти народу та місто проти міста, бо Бог побентежив їх усяким лихом.

and they have been beaten down, nation by nation, and city by city, for God hath troubled them with every adversity;

7 А ви будьте міцні, і нехай не слабнуть ваші руки, бо є нагорода для вашої чинности!

and ye, be ye strong, and let not your hands be feeble, for there is a reward for your work.'

8 А коли Аса почув оці слова та пророцтво, яке говорив пророк Азарія, син Оведів, то зміцнився, і повикидав поганські гидоти зо всього краю Юдиного та Веніяминового, та з міст, які він здобув з Єфремових гір, і відновив Господнього жертівника, що перед Господнім притвором.

And at Asa's hearing these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he hath strengthened himself, and doth cause the abominations to pass away out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities that he hath captured from the hill-country of Ephraim, and reneweth the altar of Jehovah that before the porch of Jehovah,

9 І зібрав він усього Юду й Веніямина та тих, що мешкали часово з ними з Єфрему, і з Манасії, і з Симеона, бо дуже багато поперебігали до нього з Ізраїля, коли побачили, що з ним Господь, його Бог.

and gathereth all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and out of Simeon -- for they have fallen unto him from Israel in abundance, in their seeing that Jehovah his God with him.

10 І вони зібралися до Єрусалиму третього місяця, п'ятнадцятого року царювання Аси.

And they are gathered to Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,

11 І принесли вони того дня в жертву для Господа зо здобичі, яку поприводили: худоби великої сім сотень, а худоби дрібної сім тисяч.

and sacrifice to Jehovah on that day from the spoil they have brought in -- oxen seven hundred, and sheep seven thousand,

12 І ввійшли вони в умову, щоб звертатися до Господа, Бога їхніх батьків, усім своїм серцем та всією своєю душею.

and they enter into a covenant to seek Jehovah, God of their fathers, with all their heart, and with all their soul,

13 А кожен, хто не буде звертатися до Господа, Бога Ізраїля, буде забитий від малого й аж до великого, від чоловіка й аж до жінки.

and every one who doth not seek for Jehovah, God of Israel, is put to death, from small unto great, from man unto woman.

14 І заприсяглися вони Господеві голосом сильним, і окликом, і сурмами, і рогами.

And they swear to Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets,

15 І тішився ввесь Юда тією присягою, бо вони заприсяглися всім серцем своїм, і всією своєю волею шукали Його, і Він дав їм знайти Себе. І Господь дав їм мир навколо.

and rejoice do all Judah concerning the oath, for with all their heart they have sworn, and with all their good-will they have sought Him, and He is found of them, and Jehovah giveth rest to them round about.

16 І навіть Мааху, матір царя Аси, й її він позбавив права бути царицею, бо вона зробила була ідола Астарти. І Аса порубав боввана її, і розтер, і спалив у долині Кедрон.

And also Maachah, mother of Asa the king -- he hath removed her from mistress, in that she hath made for a shrine a horrible thing, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and beateth small, and burneth by the brook Kidron:

17 Т а пагірки не минулися в Ізраїля, але Асине серце було все з Господом по всі його дні.

yet the high places have not turned aside from Israel; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect all his days.

18 І вніс він до Божого дому святі речі свого батька та святі речі свої, срібло, і золото, і посуд.

And he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 А війни не було аж до тридцять й п'ятого року царювання Аси.

And war hath not been till the thirty and fifth year of the reign of Asa.
