1 Б езбожні втікають, коли й не женуться за ними, а справедливий безпечний, немов той левчук.

The wicked have fled and there is no pursuer. And the righteous as a young lion is confident.

2 К оли край провиниться, то має багато володарів, коли ж є людина розумна й знаюча, то держиться довго.

By the transgression of a land many its heads. And by an intelligent man, Who knoweth right -- it is prolonged.

3 Л юдина убога, що гнобить нужденних, це злива рвучка, що хліба по ній не буває.

A man -- poor and oppressing the weak, a sweeping rain, and there is no bread.

4 Т і, хто Закон залишає, хвалять безбожних, а ті, хто Закон береже, на них буряться.

Those forsaking the law praise the wicked, Those keeping the law plead against them.

5 Л юди лихі правосуддя не розуміють, а шукаючі Господа все розуміють.

Evil men understand not judgment, And those seeking Jehovah understand all.

6 Л іпше убогий, що ходить в своїй неповинності, ніж криводорогий, хоч він і багач.

Better the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse of ways who is rich.

7 Х то Закон береже, розумний той син, а хто водиться із гультяями, засоромлює батька свого.

Whoso is keeping the law is an intelligent son, And a friend of gluttons, Doth cause his father to blush.

8 Х то множить лихварським відсотком багатство своє, той для того громадить його, хто ласкавий для бідних.

Whoso is multiplying his wealth by biting and usury, For one favouring the poor doth gather it.

9 Х то відхилює вухо своє, щоб не слухати Закона, то буде огидна й молитва того.

Whoso is turning his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer an abomination.

10 Х то простих доводить блудити дорогою зла, сам до ями своєї впаде, а невинні посядуть добро.

Whoso is causing the upright to err in an evil way, Into his own pit he doth fall, And the perfect do inherit good.

11 Б агата людина в очах своїх мудра, та розумний убогий розслідить її.

A rich man is wise in his own eyes, And the intelligent poor searcheth him.

12 В елика пишнота, як тішаться праведні, коли ж несправедливі зростають, то треба шукати людину.

In the exulting of the righteous the glory abundant, And in the rising of the wicked man is apprehensive.

13 Х то ховає провини свої, тому не ведеться, а хто признається та кидає їх, той буде помилуваний.

Whoso is covering his transgressions prospereth not, And he who is confessing and forsaking hath mercy.

14 Б лаженна людина, що завжди обачна, а хто ожорсточує серце своє, той впадає в лихе.

O the happiness of a man fearing continually, And whoso is hardening his heart falleth into evil.

15 Л ев ричучий й ведмідь ненажерливий це безбожний володар над людом убогим.

A growling lion, and a ranging bear, the wicked ruler over a poor people.

16 В олодар, позбавлений розуму, тисне дошкульно, а ненависник зажерливости буде мати дні довгі.

A leader lacking understanding multiplieth oppressions, Whoso is hating dishonest gain prolongeth days.

17 Л юдина, обтяжена за душогубство, втікає до гробу, нехай її не підпирають!

A man oppressed with the blood of a soul, Unto the pit fleeth, none taketh hold on him.

18 Х то ходить невинний, той буде спасений, а криводорогий впаде на одній із доріг.

Whoso is walking uprightly is saved, And the perverted of ways falleth at once.

19 Х то землю свою обробляє, той насититься хлібом, а хто за марнотним женеться, насититься вбогістю.

Whoso is tilling his ground is satisfied bread, And whoso is pursuing vanity, Is filled poverty.

20 В ірна людина багата на благословення, а хто спішно збагачується, непокараним той не залишиться.

A stedfast man hath multiplied blessings, And whoso is hasting to be rich is not acquitted.

21 У вагу звертати на особу не добре, бо й за кус хліба людина згрішить.

To discern faces is not good, And for a piece of bread doth a man transgress.

22 З авидюща людина спішить до багатства, і не знає, що прийде на неї нужда.

Troubled for wealth the man an evil eye, And he knoweth not that want doth meet him.

23 Х то напоумляє людину, той знаходить вкінці більшу ласку, ніж той, хто лестить язиком.

Whoso is reproving a man afterwards findeth grace, More than a flatterer with the tongue.

24 Х то батька свого й свою матір грабує і каже: Це не гріх, той розбійнику друг.

Whoso is robbing his father, or his mother, And is saying, `It is not transgression,' A companion he is to a destroyer.

25 З ахланний викликує сварку, хто ж має надію на Господа, буде насичений.

Whoso is proud in soul stirreth up contention, And whoso is trusting on Jehovah is made fat.

26 Х то надію кладе на свій розум, то він нерозумний, а хто мудрістю ходить, той буде врятований.

Whoso is trusting in his heart is a fool, And whoso is walking in wisdom is delivered.

27 Х то дає немаючому, той недостатку не знатиме, хто ж свої очі ховає від нього, той зазнає багато проклять.

Whoso is giving to the poor hath no lack, And whoso is hiding his eyes multiplied curses.

28 К оли підіймаються люди безбожні, людина ховається, а як гинуть вони, то множаться праведні.

In the rising of the wicked a man is hidden, And in their destruction the righteous multiply!
