1 В алаам сказал Валаку: – Построй мне здесь семь жертвенников и приготовь семь быков и семь баранов.

And Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this seven altars, and make ready for me in this seven bullocks and seven rams.'

2 В алак сделал, как сказал Валаам, и они вдвоем принесли на каждом жертвеннике по быку и барану.

And Balak doth as Balaam hath spoken, and Balak -- Balaam also -- offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar,

3 В алаам сказал Валаку: – Стой здесь, у своих всесожжений, а я отойду в сторону. Может быть, Господь придет, чтобы встретиться со мной. Все, что Он мне откроет, я расскажу тебе. И он ушел на голую вершину.

and Balaam saith to Balak, `Station thyself by thy burnt-offering and I go on, it may be Jehovah doth come to meet me, and the thing which He sheweth me -- I have declared to thee;' and he goeth a high place.

4 Б ог встретился с ним, и Валаам сказал: – Я приготовил семь жертвенников и на каждом принес быка и барана.

And God cometh unto Balaam, and he saith unto Him, `The seven altars I have arranged, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar;'

5 Г осподь научил Валаама, что сказать, и велел: – Вернись к Валаку и передай ему это.

and Jehovah putteth a word in the mouth of Balaam, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

6 О н вернулся к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений со всеми вождями Моава.

And he turneth back unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab.

7 И Валаам произнес пророчество: – Из Арама привел меня Валак, царь Моава – от гор восточных: «Приди, прокляни мне Иакова; приди, обреки Израиль на погибель».

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `From Aram he doth lead me -- Balak king of Moab; From mountains of the east: Come -- curse for me Jacob, And come -- be indignant Israel.

8 К ак мне проклясть тех, кого Бог не проклял? Как на гибель обречь тех, кого Бог не обрек?

What -- do I pierce? -- God hath not pierced! And what -- am I indignant? -- Jehovah hath not been indignant!

9 С о скальных вершин я на них смотрю, с холмов я на них взираю. Вижу народ, который отдельно живет и одним из народов себя не числит.

For from the top of rocks I see it, And from heights I behold it; Lo a people! alone it doth tabernacle, And among nations doth not reckon itself.

10 К то сочтет потомков Иакова – их столько, сколько пылинок на земле, – или четвертую часть Израиля? Пусть я умру смертью праведных, и пусть будет кончина моя, как у них!

Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!'

11 В алак сказал Валааму: – Что ты со мной сделал? Я привел тебя проклясть моих врагов, а ты их благословляешь!

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `What hast thou done to me? to pierce mine enemies I have taken thee -- and lo, thou hast certainly blessed;'

12 О н ответил: – Разве я не должен говорить то, что мне велит Господь? Второе пророчество Валаама

and he answereth and saith, `That which Jehovah doth put in my mouth -- it do I not take heed to speak?'

13 Т огда Валак сказал ему: – Пойдем со мной в другое место, откуда ты сможешь их увидеть. Там ты увидишь только некоторых, не всех. Тогда прокляни их для меня оттуда.

And Balak saith unto him, `Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, whence thou dost see it, only its extremity thou dost see, and all of it thou dost not see, and pierce it for me thence;'

14 О н отвел его на поле Цофим на вершине Фасги, построил там семь жертвенников и принес на каждом быка и барана.

and he taketh him the field of Zophim, unto the top of Pisgah, and buildeth seven altars, and offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar.

15 В алаам сказал Валаку: – Стой здесь, у своих всесожжений, пока я там встречусь с Ним.

And he saith unto Balak, `Station thyself here by thy burnt-offering, and I -- I meet there;'

16 Г осподь встретился с Валаамом, научил его, что сказать, и велел: – Вернись к Валаку и передай ему это.

and Jehovah cometh unto Balaam, and setteth a word in his mouth, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

17 О н пошел к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений с вождями Моава. Валак спросил его: – Что сказал Господь?

And he cometh unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him, and Balak saith to him: `What hath Jehovah spoken?'

18 Т огда Валаам произнес пророчество: – Валак, соберись и слушай; сын Циппора, внимай мне.

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear unto me, son of Zippor!

19 Б ог − не человек, чтобы лгать, и не смертный, чтобы передумывать. Неужели скажет Он и не сделает, пообещает и не исполнит?

God not a man -- and lieth, And a son of man -- and repenteth! Hath He said -- and doth He not do ? And spoken -- and doth He not confirm it?

20 Я получил повеление благословлять; благословляет Он – я не могу отменить.

Lo, to bless I have received: Yea, He blesseth, and I not reverse it.

21 Н е видно несчастья в Иакове, не заметно беды в Израиле. С ними Господь, их Бог, провозглашенный ими Царем.

He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor hath He seen perverseness in Israel; Jehovah his God with him, And a shout of a king in him.

22 И з Египта их вывел Бог; сила их – сила дикого быка.

God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a Reem is to him;

23 Н ет колдовства на Иакова, нет ворожбы на Израиля. Станут теперь говорить об Иакове и об Израиле: «Вот что Бог сотворил!»

For no enchantment against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, What hath God wrought!

24 К ак львица встает народ; как лев поднимается! Не успокоится он, пока не пожрет добычу и кровью жертв не напьется.

Lo, the people as a lioness riseth, And as a lion he lifteth himself up, He lieth not down till he eateth prey, And blood of pierced ones doth drink.'

25 Т огда Валак сказал Валааму: – Не проклинай их и не благословляй!

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all;'

26 В алаам ответил: – Разве я не говорил тебе, что должен делать все, что скажет Господь? Третье пророчество Валаама

and Balaam answereth and saith unto Balak, `Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh -- it I do?'

27 Т огда Валак сказал Валааму: – Пойдем, я отведу тебя в другое место. Может быть, Богу будет угодно дать тебе проклясть их мне оттуда.

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Come, I pray thee, I take thee unto another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God -- to pierce it for me from thence.'

28 В алак отвел Валаама на вершину Пеора, обращенную к пустыне.

And Balak taketh Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness,

29 В алаам сказал Валаку: – Построй мне здесь семь жертвенников и приготовь семь быков и семь баранов.

and Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this seven altars, and make ready for me in this seven bullocks and seven rams;'

30 В алак сделал, как сказал Валаам, и принес на каждом жертвеннике быка и барана.

and Balak doth as Balaam said, and he offereth a bullock and a ram on an altar.
